The First Spark
Part 6
Previous ChapterNext ChapterFor a couple of weeks passed and I got more and more settled in to the tree house everything was great, I’d even made friends with a couple of ponies. One day I heard a noise while I was fast asleep. I decided to dismiss the noise and continue sleeping. That was before I realized that I heard a voice approaching the tree house! I jumped up and flew to the empty chest in the corner of the room. I quickly opened the chest and jumped inside.
Just as I did the door flew open and a filly entered the tree house. I was terrified that she would find me and make me go back to Cloudsdale. I just lay there and covered my face hoping I would be impossible to find. “What the hay? Who’s been sleep’n in mah tree house?”
Whoever it was she had a very country accent. I remained silent in fear of discovery. She moved around almost as if she seemed to be searching for something. “What’s that?” I cringed, she found me!
Hoofsteps leave my vicinity and go over to where my saddlebags were laying. I hear a clasp unlock as she looks inside my saddlebags. “What are these doo dads?” OH NO SHE FOUND MY COMPUTER PARTS! “DON’T TOUCH THOSE!” I yelled bursting out of the chest.
“DEAR CELESTIA! Who the hay are you!?” Good job Digital, really stealthy.
“Umm…. Uhhhh…” I was really scared and couldn’t say anything.
“What’s the mattah? Cat got yer tongue?” I didn’t know what to say.
“Well! Say someth’n!” She startled me with her sudden demand.
“Please don’t touch those.” She looked at me and then to the foreign pieces of machinery in the saddle bag.
“Oh! Uh, sorry partner.” I was relieved; the ice seemed to have finally broken.
“Thanks, they are one of a kind.” She seemed surprised.
“Really? They all look the same tah mah.”
"Well you see that is the CPU and that there is the motherboard and that there…” I glanced up to see that she was looking at me with a confused look of great intensity. “Uhh… oh… um… sorry.” I was just a little bit embarrassed that I went on about a thing that no one understood but my family.
“It’s alright. I’m Applejack, nice to meet ya” I was glad she forgot about the whole living in your tree house thing.
“I’m Digital Pwny, nice to meet you as well.” She looked eyed me and looked at our surroundings.
“So why the hay are ya living in mah tree house!” So much for forgetting.
“Well… you see… *sigh*”
She looked concerned, “You alright?”
I knew I had to tell her everything, so I told her the story of how I came to be here. I was surprised that she has listened to it all.
“So now you know, and if you want to tell the guards where I am go ahead, but I will just get away again no matter what…”
She looked at me with much pity. “I won’t tell anypony, You just stay as long as you need.”
I was shocked! “W-w-what?” I couldn’t believe it. “No pony has ever been so nice to me… besides my parents and friends. But a random stranger… I… I…”
She cut me off, “Don’t worry about it Digital, it’s what friends do.”
From then on me and Applejack were friends. As time passed I slowly gathered pieces, materials and tools to build the computer. I was able to finish the monitor, CPU tower, and an empty battery. Applejack would visit every day and talk with a while, as well as bring me a couple of apples.
One day she came but seemed a little lackluster, she told me she wasn’t happy farming and that she was going to go try living with her Aunt and Uncle Orange in the city of Manehattan. I was sad to see her go but she needed to do what she needed to do.
After she left I constructed a pole that would attract a source of power for the battery, I called it a lighting pole. I installed it on top of the tree house in hopes that it would charge the battery when lightning struck.
The next few days were boring; all I did was set up The Computer and get ready for a storm. What happened next I didn’t know could’ve happened.
It was a normal day, I was tweaking with The Computer and setting it up with new safety measures. When it happened!. There was a loud BOOM! I could’ve swore it was as loud as a bomb! I looked out of the window and saw the most amazing thing. An array of colors spread through the sky in a ring! The radiance and magnificence shown by this rainbow ring was astonishing. I sat there staring for minutes on end. When I realized the ring was getting closer and closer! I thought it couldn’t have been dangerous at all. Well… it wasn’t exactly harmless.
It began to shake the tree house violently and I heard a strange energy sound. Only later would I know what that sound was. Because outside my lightning pole was being thrashed about in the force as well as absorbing energy from the rainbow ring! It was pulsating with spectral colors in a brilliant dance. The energy made its way down into the battery with a brilliant light show! Multicolored bolts of energy arced around the room as the battery filled with strange rainbow energy.
Finally all settled down. The battery completely filled with a radiant glow. It had been charged with rainbow energy! I observed the strange battery with hopes of finding out how it came to be the way it was. But to no avail. All there was left to do is but the battery into the CPU tower.
When I did the machine began to shake and colors began to fly from inside the machine. I closed the CPU tower and stood back watching the machine trash about in a brilliant array of colors. It finally settled down and began whirring and beeping. I looked out the window at the rainbow ring as it began to dissipate.
“Thank you.” I said to whom or what made the ring. Then another flash, I looked back at The Computer but it hadn’t made the light. I realized it was my cutie mark! I had built technology, the first like it in Equestria, and that was reflected in my cutie mark. I was overjoyed. I then remembered that The Computer is sitting over in the corner waiting for me.
I trotted over and plugged the monitor into the CPU tower. A little green blip appeared on the screen and displayed a message.
“Please install software” This was confusing.
“What the hay is software?” I wouldn’t know till much later in the story.
The only problem is I was approaching High School age. Which means I’d have to take a break from The Computer. Applejack came back home too, she had gotten her cutie mark while she was gone. She said a rainbow had led her back home where she belongs. She noticed mine and I told her the story behind it as well. All was well in my life.
