For one thousand years, Equestria has languished under Civil War. The New Lunar Republic, having seceded with Luna during her initial rebellion, has been in constant conflict with the re-named Solar Empire, resulting the deaths of countless soldiers and civilians. This all changed 100 years ago, with the advent of nuclear weapons. Now, with Weapons of Mass Destruction in both countries' possessions, and their very deadly potential proven by the Everfree Incident, neither side will risk open hostilities and potential thermonuclear holocaust.

This is the world Twilight Sparkle has grown up in. Never has the nation seen peace in her lifetime, nor in the lifetimes of any ponies still alive. In these ever growing dark times, Twilight looks to her mentor, Empress Celestia, for guidance and comfort, but finds only doubt. Both Celestia and her sister want this war to end, but neither wants to forfeit the values they started it for. It is in this that Twilight Sparkle finds herself torn between fighting for peace and fighting for those she cares for.

But none of this seems to matter when the seas begin to boil, and the embodiment of Equestria's worst fears blazes a trail of destruction across the war torn continent. Now the fate of the world rests on Twilight's shoulders as she races to understand this anomaly of nature in a desperate effort to end the destruction. Luckily, she is not alone. Together with new-found friends, Twilight Sparkle will set out to do the impossible and bring a nation back together. But will it be enough to stop the aptly named GODZILLA?
