It was a normal, average afternoon in Ponyville. Twilight Sparkle the Alicorn, Spike, and Owlicious were just having a normal day in the Golden Oaks Library. "Spike!" called Twilight "Where is the book about the history of Discord?"

"We don't have any, remember?" Spike called back to her.

Twilight began to blush "Oh right. Sorry." she called

"It's fine" said Spike

Twilight then thought of a book that might interest her. "Do I still have the book on Star Swirl the bearded?" she asked

Spike then came up to her with the book she was looking for. "You mean this?" he said

Twilight smiled and exclaimed "Yes! Thanks."

"You're welcome, but haven't you read this many times before?" questioned Spike

"I know. I just love Star Swirl the bearded, you know." replied the purple Alicorn

Spike gave out a sigh and said "Alright. suit yourself"

Twilight smiled and began to read the really long book about Star Swirl the bearded. "Why don't you take a day off?"

Spike's eyes became widened with surprise, and asked "Really?"

"Sure." I don't want to overwork you with all of this." said Twilight with a smile. "I have a lot of reading to do. Just be careful when you are out there, okay" she added

"Alright." said Spike

He saw Owlicious and said to him "See you later Owlicious."

"Hoo." he said

Spike then face-palmed and said in annoyance "You that's who." The baby dragon then thought of how owls sound like. "Oh yeah. I forgot you owls sound like that. Sorry, Owlicious."

Owlicious then flew on Spike's arm, and patted his head with his wing.

"Aw, thanks. See you later." just like that, Spike then closed the door behind him and started to enjoy his day off. He was then thinking on where he should go for fun. He was thinking about Fluttershy, Rarity, or Applejack. In the end He decided to go to Fluttershy's cottage. Sure Spike is deeply in love with Rarity, but Fluttershy kind of reminds him of a motherly figure, right next to Twilight of course. When Fluttershy first saw Spike when he and Twilight arrived in Ponyville, she thought that Spike was the cutest baby dragon she has ever seen.

As Spike was heading down Fluttershy's cottage. He saw a figure with tentacles for traveling instead of walking. Spike rubed both of his eyes to see if he was just seeing things. Spike then came to where the figure was, and see what it was in the woods. The figure then disappeared without a trace as soon as Spike blinked.

"Hello?" he called. "Is any-pony out here?" There was no answer. He looked all over through the trees to look for the creature, but he didn't see it anywhere. Spike then said to himself "Come on Spike, you're just seeing things."

Spike then continued to Fluttershy's cottage, but when he was about to get back on the path, He bumped into somepony. He stopped his head from throbbing from dizziness, and when he looked up to see who it was, his heart was pounding like a beating drum from a tribe from Zecora's homeland. It was the Mane-iac, The Power Ponies arch nemesis from the comic book. She was just looking at the baby dragon with a wicked, evil grin on her face.

Too amazed and too horrified to do anything, He began to turn around and ran away from the insane super villain. He was screaming at the top of his lungs.

Six minutes later

Spike was running and screaming nonstop since he just saw the Mane-iac once again. When he finally arrived at Fluttershy's cottage, he went in without knocking, and slammed the door behind him. He then finally stopped screaming. He then began panting and hyperventilating uncontrollably.

Fluttershy, along with a couple of animals, came to Spike's aid and she asked the baby dragon "What's the matter, Spike?". A couple of her animal friends cittered, chirped, roared, and made other sounds. Obviously they were also asking Spike that question.

"She...She..." Spike couldn't stop hyperventilating, and he was a little speechless "The Ma....the Ma...The Mane-iac!" He exclaimed in extreme panic. He then began to drop on the floor, and began shivering and shaking in fear, like an Asiatic bear cub separated from it's mother. Spike then began to shed tears from his eyes

Fluttershy then crouched on the floor and began to gently stroke the baby dragon't back. "Shh...It's okay." she whispered in her usual, motherly tone. "There, there. No need to cry." she added. "The Mane-iac was defeated by us, remember?"

Spike then started to calm down a little. Althought he is still having a few tears leaking down his cheeks, he was trying the best he can do to calm.

"Can you tell me where you saw her?" said Fluttershy, in a caring tone.

Spike then slowly stood up, opened the door, and pointed his finger to where he saw the deranged comic book villain. "It's was a little far away from here, but that is where i saw her. I believe i did." he said

"Would you like some hot chocolate to make you feel better." said Fluttershy

Spike then smiled weakly and said "Y..yeah. I would like that."

Fluttershy then smiled and said "Good.It will be ready in a few minutes."

Spike then thought of where to sit and said "Is it okay if I sit on your bed upstairs." He was a little nervous about asking that question and was worried that she would say "No"

Fluttershy then smiled warmly at the baby dragon and said "Not at all, Spikey-Whikey. You can sit on my bed anytime you want."

"Thanks." said Spike

"You're welcome, Spikey-Whikey." replied Fluttershy.

Spike then went upstairs to Fluttershy's bedroom and sat on her bed. It was so warm and so soft to him. "I always knew that her bed was soft, but not this soft." he thought out loud. He just couldn't stop thinking about what he thought about his "encounter" with the Mane-iac. The baby dragon then heard footsteps of the yellow pegasus. He then sat up, and saw Fluttershy holding a plate with the hot chocolate on her back

"Here you go, Spike." she said in a happy voice.

Spike then took the plate, and saw that the hot chocolate had little marshmallows in the beverage. He then carefully took a small sip of it. He didn't want to drink so much of it, so that way he wouldn't have the inside of his mouth burned. "Wow! This is great!"

Fluttershy giggled at his response and said "I knew you would love it." Fluttershy then sat on the middle of her bed, right next to Spike. "So Spike." She said to the baby dragon with him having all eyes on her. "Could you tell me how this happened? What was this...encounter like."

Spike then took a deep breath, and told her on how Twilight gave him a whole day off from his work for her. He then told Fluttershy that he wanted to come to her house. "I saw this figure in the woods, and I thought it had tentacles, so I got a closer look to see what it was." spike said. "I called out to this pony, but no answer. I decided that I was seeing things, and I decided to continue to your house. But when was about to turn back on the road, I bumped into..." Spike then gulped and said in fear "The Mane-iac."

Fluttershy was quite surprised by this, but she said "I'm pretty sure you were just seeing things."

"I really hope so." Spike replied

Fluttershy then said out of thought "This is just out of curiosity, but what made you decide to come to my cottage for your day off. Not that I have a problem with that, or if that's okay with you."

"I just wanted to." said Spike

"Oh. Okay." replied Fluttershy. "Since your here, would you like to help me with me animals." she added with a smile.

Spike then gave out a really excited smile and said "Sure! I would love to!"

Fluttershy giggled at his reaction and said "Good."

The two went downstairs to help the animals of the yellow Pegasus' cottage.

Two hours Later

"That was fun." said Spike "Thanks for letting me help you."

Fluttershy giggled and said "Your welcome. Always glad for someone to help me."

Spike then thought of something. "Fl...Fluttershy?" he asked in a nervous voice

"Yes?...What's the matter, Spike?" asked the yellow pegasus in a little worried tone

"Nothing. I...I was just wondering..." he was a little lost for words.

"Yes?" said Fluttershy.

"I probably shouldn't, it's...Silly." said Spike

"You can tell me anything." said Fluttershy warmly, while putting a wing over him. Spike then began to bush. He was having a warm feeling around the yellow pegasus.

The baby dragon then gave out a sigh and said "Can...can...Can I stay with you for the night?" he then covered his mouth.

Fluttershy then goggled and said "Why of course you can, but that's really up to Twilight, and not me."

Spike then tjought about how he was going to tell Twilight, but she seems busy and wouldn't want Spike's help for a few days, but since she really loves Spike, he would be sure she wouldn't mind Spike at her timid friend's house. "Okay." he said "But you wouldn't really mind if I stay with you, do you?"

"Of course not." said Fluttershy tenderly "You can stay with me as long as Twilight says so."

Spike smiled and said "Thank you." He then hugged Fluttershy, and she hugged back to him. Spike then went out of the door, and said to the yellow pegasus "Hopefully, I'll be back"

"I hope so too, Sweetie." replied Fluttershy. She then looked at him with wide cow eyes and said "I am so sorry! I didn't mean to call you that." she then looked down in embarrassment.

"No, no it's okay. I don't mind you calling me that at all. Anyway, I'm going to the library now."

"Okay. I'll wait." said Fluttershy. After that, Spike closed the door behind him and went to the library to talk to her. "I'm I really just seeing things? Or not?" he thought to himself while jogging to Twilight's house.
