One Day Like This
Awkward Cake
Previous ChapterNext ChapterI awoke to see Vinyl gone. Not a trace of her was left, she even put the bed back up and put away the sheets.
"How courteous," I said out loud. I glanced out my window to see the sun shining. It kinda hurt to look at, but I particularly didn't mind it today, I had a place to be soon. I glanced to see the time to see 11:30. Woah. Now I'm scared. I rushed up-stairs to shower and get ready. I didn't want to look like a slob when I hung out with Vinyl today. I took a shower, making sure that I was perfectly clean. I brushed my teeth then proceeded to rush out the door, only to see that it was 12:00. Oh no. I ran as fast as my hooves could take me. I made it to Sugarcube Corner to find her not there. I nearly punched my self with the realization that she wouldn't be there, it's Vinyl Scratch, she's always late. Well anyways, after about a half an hour, she shows up. She's dressed like she normally is, nothing except her trademark headphones and shades. We sat down to break some ice.
"So, where are you originally from, Mr. Fancy Wings?" She said this like she was curious about my wings, sure they weren't normal, but I've seen them on other ponies. As a matter-of-fact I saw one just yesterday with these wings, he was grey and had a blonde mane.
"I lived in Cloudsdale for a while. You know, where most pegasi come from. I then headed away from home for my own reasons and decided that Ponyville was a nice place." It relieved me to know she didn't ask why I left, only because she mentioned that we hadn't gotten anything to eat. I entered the incredibly bright cake shop with her to see Pinkie manning the counters and not the kitchens.
"What do you want Vinyl, I'll take care of it." The look in her eyes was appreciative and sincere, her reply being "Cake," was vague, but with my deductive skills (which are rather meager in comparison to that of an investigator) I decided that she would want chocolate.
"Hiya! What would you like to eat today!" She always said this with an overjoying enthusiasm that even put a smile on my face.
"One slice of chocolate cake, please." I glanced at how many bits it is to determine how many bits I needed to pull out. I placed 2 exactly on the counter. When she handed me the cake, we thanked her and carried it to our table. I placed it in front of her, then heard her raise the question. "Why didn't you get anything?"
"Oh, I'm just not hungry is all," I lied. I was hungry, just not for cake, I craved what I've craved for the past several years. Blood.
"You sure you don't wanna bite?" She levitated the fork to my mouth as she said this. I shook my head, but she was still persistent. I needed to lie or else she might actually make me eat it. You can never know when we're talking about Vinyl.
"I have a flour allergy, sorry." Wow, I suck at lying, how could she believe that. She did though, at least I think so.
"Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't know, I was just curious is all." Vinyl was acting different, like I wasn't just any other pony. It was almost as if she liked me. Nah, she couldn't, we barely knew each other, but she obviously knew something about me. That was for us to figure out later though, because in the middle of our wonderfully awkward lunch, she got a call from Octavia, her roommate. I didn't mind, even though every second we spend together make my heart warm. I needed to get home and work on some art, I've gained a new inspiration, and it's derived from the one I love.
