The Beginning

Dark. Everything was dark with no senses of what was going on on the outside, I was slowly dying. But I welcomed death, even though it was too soon for me, our ancestors never have wrong timing. Well, at least my ancestors... But I'm getting ahead of myself. Lets start from the beginning, the very beginning. I was born to a wonderful family with one older brother and two great parents. My mother's name was Angelfeather, and my dad's, Silvercrystal. My brother got the name Renaissance, and mine... Rabbit.

I always pondered why I had the name of an animal, and my parents told me it was because of how fast and smart I was. I believed them, after all. And I was right, I did learn fast, my first feat of magic was when I was only a very small filly,  I raised a sprout from the ground, and it blossomed into a beautiful flower called a Moongrazer. Or a '' Flower of Stars.''

I kept that flower as long as I could, for it was VERY rare, their was said to be only 3 in the world.... now 4, I guess.

But I wasn't born in the Tribe of Tall Mountains, or any tribe at all... I was born in the Crystal Empire. It was before the time of King Sombra's rule... well, at least yet. One day our father came back from his work as a royal guard, early. We were all confused by why he came home so early, and he just rushed us into our cellar.

That's when my life was torn apart. ''Dad?'' I asked. '' Whats going on?'' He only looked down at me in worry, and pulled my mother aside, whispering to her in secret. I looked up at my bigger brother. ''Renaissance? Do you know what's going on?'' He just shook his head in reply. All of a sudden, we heard hoof steps come close and our cellar door squeaked open. Three ponies in black crystal armor stood around it, staring at us.

We were thrown into a small cage inside of the castle, in the room right below the top. Later after waiting for what seemed like moons, the same guards came back and took a hold of my father. ''Dad!'' I yelled, trying to take a hold of him with my magic. The guards noticed the light blue around my horn and how much power I put into saving my father. So they dropped my father and came for me. My brother, stood in front of me, daring the guards to come even a step closer. When it came to family, my brother was very protective. He flared his wings and growled at the guards. But the guards shoved him over like a feather, toppling him towards the ground. ''Renaissance!!'' my mother yelled. She rushed the guards, sending one flying towards the wall. My father fought back too, he was of course, one of the royal guards.  But the guard were just too strong, they flung my father and mother back into the jail cell, pulling me and my small body along. They closed and locked the cell door behind me, my family looking at me with a wave of fear over their faces.

No... I thought, I was not going to lose to these ponies and let them separate my family. A surge of power washed over me as i gained back my strength to fight for freedom. I levitated a large bar off the ground, and slammed them into the back of the heads of my attackers. Two were knocked out and one just stared in shock. I ran over to my parents, oblivious to the guard yell, ''King! King Sombra! Hurry! A prisoner has escaped!'' My parents looked at me with tears in their eyes, and my mother spoke up, '' You need to get out of here! We will be fine! Its you who needs to go!'' She yelled. Blurry tears had formed in my eyes, and I just replied with the lump already forming in my thought.

I looked at my dad for any other ideas, but he just shook his head. '' She's right Rabbit, you need to leave as soon as possible!'' He said. ''But-mom- dad, we will see each other again.... right.....?'' I said, getting all sniffy.  '' We don't know, just be careful...'' I held my families' hooves close, embracing their last grasp. But our hold was cut short when a black pony with unusual armor and purple mist clinging to his eyes. He roared a scream that sent shivers up my spine, then chased after me, his wicked horn glowing in an unsettling green light. I ran, taking one last look at my parents, then pushed forward full speed. The bright light of the sun covered my escape route, but I knew it was a way out. But I only noticed too late on what my ''Escape Route'' really was. The balcony was up way too high, an easy death for any pony who would jump off. I felt a searing pain envelop my back and spread across my aching body. The force of the magic that the black pony had summoned was too much for a little filly to handle. It sent me flying over the balcony, and every second my body sent plummeting towards the ground in high speed. I knew that this fall would kill me, and I knew I would never see my family again, so I prepared myself for my...... untimely death...
