Princess Butterscotch

Chapter 11

The sun shone over the meadow, animals scurrying to and fro across the flower strewn field. Butterscotch turns to a squirrel, it's tiny hands clasp around a white puffy flower.

"Sorry... but I'm not sure the Princess would want a face full of dandelion," he said, watching the white seeds fly into the air.

The squirrel sighs, and returns to find that one flower for the picky pony. Butterscotch turns and heads for a basket of apples, his stomach rumbling from the mornings flower picking quest.

Bending down he grabs hold of an apple, he pauses hearing a squeak. Turning his gaze downwards, he sees a bug like creature next to the basket. It's eyes sparkle, as it's fly like wings propel it towards the stallion.

Holding his hand out, the creature lands on his palm. Butterscotch smiles at seeing the creature, "huh... a Parasprite."

Enclosing the creature in his palm, he crushes it. Turning towards the foraging pack, "Angel! I have a snack for you… what’s left of one anyways."

The white bunny breaks from the pack, hopping towards the pony with a questioning look on his face. The pegasus bends down, presenting the crushed remains of the tiny creature.

Angel’s eyes grew wide as he licks his lips from the site in his butter yellow palm. A dark crimson covers the guts and flesh of the once big eyed insect. The pile of flesh floats towards the bunny, opening his jaws, he swallows the pile of flesh whole. A crunching sound echoed from the white rodent.

Swallowing the delectable morsel, the bunny lets out a loud burp, a smile forming on his lips. Thanking the stallion for the snack he returns to forage for flowers.

Butterscotch smiles at seeing his friend happy, turning to the red skinned fruit he takes a large bite from the sweet fruit.

Wandering through town, a basket filled with freshly picked wild flowers in his grasp. He heads to the center of town to drop off his colorful cargo, but ever ready to fly at the moments notice. The constant stares from the mares in town causes him to tense, their lustful gaze solely focused towards the pegasus.

'Kinda wished they still thought I was gay.' He thought, trying to stay calm from the ever closing feeling of their hands ripping his clothing off. Spotting a figure coming on the road, he smiles seeing the familiar pony.

Big Macintosh walks towards the pegasus, a empty cart trailing behind him. Humming a jaunty tune.

Spotting the pegasus, the hulking stallion slows down to a dead stop.

"Howdy Scotch," Mac greeted, smirking at the smaller stallion.

"Hey Mac," Butterscotch sighed, stopping in front of the pon. Looking around for a certain orange mare, "Is Applejack...."

"Nope," Mac cut in, while shaking his head, "She's at the farm right now... but I'd be more worried about granny if I was you."

Butterscotch whips his head towards the red pony, "Your kidding... but what about Applejack?"

"What about AJ," Mac snorted, bending so he could whisper into his ear, "Between you and me... mah sis is still gonna get you sooner or later."

Butterscotch's mouth hung open, as the red stallion continues to grin.

"Y-you're kidding," The butter yellow pegasus gasp, staring into his friends emerald eyes, "Even after Zecora and Gilda... she still wants to..."

Mac nods, keeping his voice low, "You know... you should just add mah sis before she get granny to hog tie yah in the barn."

Butterscotch rubs the bridge of his nose, "You know I don't flow like that.... and besides." He looks around, the odd groups of mares trying to eavesdrop on the two, "She only has to ask."

"I know. I know," Mac sighed, turning his gaze skyward at the slow flying pegasi. Returning it towards the stallion, "Mah sis maybe the bravest in town... but when it comes to that. She can be the shiest mare in the world."

Butterscotch nods, remembering Applejack’s attempts at wooing him. Each one lead to him either being bucked due to a certain green mare or that the poor girl was too tongue tied to ask.

‘Glad she’s of age now,’ he thought, remembering the young mare that tempted him with an apple pie, ’really wished I knew it was Granny that made that pie… bad enough she was barely legal at the time.’

The red stallion, starts to move forward, "So forgive mah sis when she does... but you can still hate granny if yah want."

"Like that's ever going to happen," The pegasus scoffed, as Mac paused in his tracks, "You and I both know that neither of us could hate Granny... especially when she makes that pie of hers."

Mac laughed at the pegasus's statement. He continues to move forward, trying his hardest to hold back the rising laughter.

Butterscotch shakes his head, and continues on his way.

The streets of Ponyville was decorated for the Princess's arrival. Butterscotch calmly walking towards the center of the festivities.

"No. No. No," Twilight yelled, pointing at a banner, "It's Celestia! Not Celest!"

"Sorry," an orange maned mare apologized, "we ran out of room."

"J-just redo it," Twilight sighed, noticing the stallion approaching, "Butterscotch!"

Her shout drew the attention of the surrounding mares. Butterscotch ignores their stares, "Hey there Twilight... I have the flowers you asked for."

He hands the basket to the eager mare, her magic wraps around the colorful flowers. She levitates the assorted flora to a red maned mare.

"Those should be perfect for the Princess," She turns to the stallion, giving him a hug, "Thank you so much for gathering them."

"It was no trouble," Butterscotch said, patting her back. The mare's fixing the sign looked on, a slight smirk forming on their muzzles.

Twilight breaks her hold and continues directing the preparations. With his job done, Butterscotch turns to head home, only to have pink cover his vision.

A bubbly pink mare rams into the stallion, with a force that would have easily toppled a manticore. Though Butterscotch still stands, with the pink mare wrapping her arms around his shoulders.

Ponies turn from their work to observe the sudden collision, and from the sound of the impact, bones should have broken.

"Butters! I'm so glad I found you!" Pinkie switches her hold to his arm, comically running in place trying to move the pony, "Quick! I need your help!"

Butterscotch sighs, knowing that trying to run away from the pink mare when she was like this, was near impossible, "Alright Pinkie... but I think it would be best if I walked on my own."

Pinkie turns slightly, a smile on her face, "no problem... but I don't think I could move you even if I wanted to."

She let's go of his arm, and quickly performs a pat down on the stallion, "Wowie... you sure are built. Huh, how come I never noticed that before?"

"Pinkie," Butterscotch sighs, a blush forming on his muzzle, "let's go do what you need to do... I still have chores to do at home."

"OKie dokie lokie," Pinkie saluted, quickly makes her way down the road. Butterscotch trailing behind the mare, doing his best to ignore the sudden murmuring of the crowd around him.

Pinkie leads him to the train station, towards a stack of crates piled on the platform.

"Where here!" Pinkie announced hopping atop the crates, to stare down at Butterscotch.

"Okay... but why are we at the station?" He asked, looking at the wooden crates.

"It's simple silly," Pinkie grins atop her throne of wood and nails, "with the party for the Princess coming up... everypony is busy preparing for the party." She smacks the box below her, "And with the delivery ponies being slowed by the preparation... I need your help getting these ingredients for the party."

Butterscotch blinks, "Okay... but there's twenty something crates here..."

"Twenty three," Pinkie cut in, hopping down from her perch, "And I need you to deliver them to Sugarcube Corner... Please."

She gave him, her most heartwarming puppy dog eyes. This only caused the stallion to inwardly sigh, "I'll do it Pinkie..."

He was cut off by the Pinkie mare's sweetened lips, and bone crushing hug.

Pinkie breaks the kiss and stares into his teal eyes, "Thank you so much Scotchy."

With a peck to his cheek, the pink mare quickly leaves the stallion. Butterscotch blinks not knowing what just transpired.

Shaking his head, he looks at the crates and with a heavy sigh, he starts to lift them.

Turning around he pauses, eyeing the two crates in hand, 'Should I even try... I mean they already know I'm into mares... and with Pinkie's outburst they'll find out one way or another.'

"What would be the point anymore," he sighed, turning around he added two more of the fifty pound boxes to his load. Channeling mana through his body, he extends his wings and flies towards the bakery.

Luckily for the stallion the sky was clear, with major of traffic hanging around the festivities. Making his flight smooth and effortless, as he heads towards a building designed like a gingerbread house. Amazingly comical, but was a functional working home and bakery.

Landing at the rear of the store, he drops the crates off next to the entrance. While a smiling pink mare, stands in the open door to greeting the stallion.

"Glad you finally made it," Pinkie said, as she breathes heavily from her sudden sprint from the station to the bakery. She quickly grabs hold of a crate, and runs back into the store with her prize.

Butterscotch lays the rest next to the entrance, and doubles back for the rest.

Each trip, he would notice the sweet on Pinkie's shirt growing, until it clung to her frame. Butterscotch made a note to help haul the rest inside, before he left for home.

As the stacks grew, the pink mare was determined to keep up with him. Yet each time she left to put the boxes away, she came back to find that Butterscotch had already returned with more in hand.

"Wow... he's really strong," she mumbled, watching him take off, "and fast."

She pauses to stare at her hand, slowly closing and opening it as she remembered her earlier examination of the stallion. A blush forms on her muzzle, with the thoughts of his arms around her.

Shaking her head, she turns to the stack of crates with determination in her eyes, "You can do this Pinkie... just show him what you can do." Picking up a crate, she heaves under the strain, "Maybe I shouldn't have ran around everywhere today... these things are really heavy."

With her arms tired from the days events, she heads into the bakery with her task at hand.

Arriving with the last boxes, he was greeted with Pinkie trying to lift a crate. Her movement sluggish and unbalanced.

"Better let me get that," He said, landing next to the mare.

Pinkie shakes her head, "No. You did enough by delivering them from the station."

"Pinkie," Butterscotch walks up to the crates, adding another to his load, "Your energy is better served making treats... and the last thing we need is for you to fall asleep at the stove."

He didn't wait for the mare's answer, he turns heading into the kitchen.

Dropping the crates into the storage room, he returns to haul the rest into the store. Each time passing the pink mare, her back turned to the stallion as she went about to make her confections.

She moves from one station to the next, mixing, baking and adding her own flare to the tasty treats. Butterscotch smiles at seeing the mare where she truly shined. Not the parties she throws that earn her smiles from everyone, but the effort she puts into making the confections that ponies loved to consume. The background work as he calls it, the stuff no pony sees other than the finished product.

To the stallion, she was something that he wished he could be, a happy do what you want type of pony. He turns his gaze towards his hand and sighs. The many deeds this hand committed whether good or bad, makes him wonder if his actions truly were the right thing to do.

Even the many scars hidden by his coat, would frighten the most battle hardened soldier. Each one a testament for the long and arduous life he has lived. Sighing he turns to return to work, but the mare's infectious smile has even reached his own muzzle.

"There," Butterscotch said, wiping the sweat from his brow, " now I just need to get home and..."
Two white arms wrap around his chest, cutting him off.
"There you are," Vinyl's said, her glasses reflecting his gaze, "Been looking for you all day."

"Vinyl... what are doing her?" He asked, as the mare let go, only to have his arm pressed in between her bosoms with her arms locking them in place.

"No time," She said pulling him towards the door, "I need your help."

"But... I still have stuff to do at home..." He began.

"Already done," the white mare cut in, tugging on his arm, "Now come on... Both Octi and I really need your help."

"If you say so," Butterscotch sighs, turning to the pink mare, "I'll see you later Pinkie... bye."

Before the pink mare can respond, he was dragged out the door.

“So… you want me do what now?” He asked, looking over the equipment.

Vinyl turns to the stallion, her horn glowing a light blue, “I just need your help setting up the equipment.”

Butterscotch looks at the various speakers and wires, turning to the unicorn, “I have no idea how to set any of these up.”

“You don’t have to,” Vinyl giggled, pointing towards a stack of speakers, “Just hang these on the street lamps.”

Butterscotch walks up to the speakers, observing the black boxes. A clamp was on the back of each box, looking back at the mare, “So how do I hang these things?”

A speaker was engulfed in magic, as it floats to one of the many street lamps on the street. The clamp was wrapped around the top of the pole and tightened. The magic slowly fading from the speaker as it stayed in it’s place.

“Does that help?” Vinyl asked, returning to wiring her turntable.

“Yup,” Butterscotch rolls his sleeves, lifting a speaker he flies to the next pole. Clamping the black box to the pole, he checks it and finds the clamp strong enough, without having to worry that it might drop on some poor pony’s head.

Nodding , he returns to retrieve another of the essential tools for the music talented mare.

An hour passes as Butterscotch fashions the last of the speakers.

“Looking good!” Vinyl called out from her turntable, “You might want to stand back!”

Butterscotch nods, landing on the cobbled street. He watches as the mare’s horn glows, sending energy towards an antenna atop the turntable.

She smiles as the energy shoots towards the speakers. A visible line of blue spider webbing throughout the street. Turning a switch to on, music started to play within the street.

“Wow,” Butterscotch mumbles, staring at the wondrous lights covering the streets and listening to the music played in the background, “almost wish I was born a unicorn… almost.”

“Looks like everythings good to go,” Vinyl said, staring at the stallion walking towards her, “Thanks again for the help.”

“It’s no problem… but why did you need my help for this again?” He asked, looking at his handiwork, “From the looks of it you could have done it all by yourself.”

The mare giggles at his statement, “I could have done it all… but I would have ran out of magic before the show started.”

“Makes sense,” Butterscotch nodded, looking at the mare, “Well if that’s all… then I best be going.”

“Really… but the party is about to start,” Vinyl pouted, walking towards the stallion, she wraps her arm around his. Squeezing it between her bosoms, “Stay… Gilda already finished the chores.”

“Really?” Butterscotch raises an eyebrow, as he stares into her glasses, “I already told her I would do that.”

“Let's just say," The mare grins, moving closer to Butterscotch, "I helped a little."

"Okay... so is there anything else or..."

"No," Vinyl cut in, moving closer to whisper into his ear, "Not in public anyways." She kisses him on the cheek, turns and heads back to her equipment.

'Damn... really wished they'd try to at least keep it normal,' Butterscotch looks down at the forming bulge, 'Really need to see a therapist about this... don't think I could live with myself if I can't use it anymore.'

Sighing , he walks towards the white unicorn.

Many of Ponyville’s residents came towards the rising sound of music. Though not many would believe what they saw when they got there.

The once rumored closet colt, no longer the shy pony he was thought to be, walking towards a mare. His arms wrapping around her.

Many of the mare's in the growing crowd, stood slack jawed at his actions. With his arms wrapped around another mare's waist, he pulls her into a passionate kiss. One could look at the clock and yet feel an eternity pass in that short moment of time.

Breaking the kiss Butterscotch whispers into Vinyl's ear, "I hope you're ready once this is over... You." A kiss lands on her cheek, "Owe." Another is planted on her neck, "Me." He nuzzles the side of her neck as a blush grew on the mare, for all the town to see.

The ponies around the couple watched, as they broke from the passionate display. The mare landing one last kiss, before the stallion left and the music grew in volume.

For the that brief moment in time, the sound echoing through the streets was the constant wubs, playing around the street. Though it was all broken by a certain white mare running towards the DJ. Not soon after, a sea of mares joined in, to question her relation with the stallion.

Butterscotch flies towards his home, ignorant of what is to come, but for now he has the spunky mare in his mind.

He sighs thinking of all the things they will do, once the day ends.

Reaching the edges of his cottage, he lands in front of his home. Though no creature dare to approach the stallion.

Thinking the worst, Butterscotch channels his mana through his body. Primed and ready for action, he calmly heads towards the door. A faint glow courses through his palms.

Opening the door revealed a frozen griffin and mare. They stand frozen, hugging one another as a red crest surrounds the two. The stallion sighs stepping into the living room.

“Angel!” He called, his eyes searching for the white bunny.

“Over here!” Angel waved from the couch. Sitting next to the snow white bunny was a creature of black fur. It’s red eyes focusing on the stallion.

“Coin?” The pegasus stops, observing the rat, “What are doing here?”

“Why visiting of course,” Coin puffed his fuzzy chest, laying a grey paw on Angel’s shoulder, “it’s been ages since I visited dear old dad.”

Angel rolls his eyes, bringing the rat into a headlock, “Like I told you and your brother… If you're going to visit make sure to bring the kids.”

Coin laughs, playfully trying to break the elder’s hold, “Okay. Okay. I’ll bring the kids next time… they’ve actually been dieing to see you too.”

Angel breaks his hold, not before ruffling his son’s head. Butterscotch takes a seat across the two, he smiles from the duo's interaction.

Coin shakes his head, chuckling from the bunny’s treatment. He turns to the stallion, his smile slowly fading, “You know why I’m here… right?”

Butterscotch sighs, knowing the implication of having the creature before, “What’s the bad news?”

“Straight to the point as usual,” the rat smiles, it’s eyes glowing a fiery crimson. Pictures appear around the stallion, “This is what we received from our brethren.”

Angel looks over a certain image, his eyes turn a deep crimson, “Windigos!”

Butterscotch and coin turn their attention towards the glowing bunny. Streaks of fire, wrapping around his form.

Father!” Coin yells, gaining the attention of the combusting rodent, “Please control yourself!”

Angel’s eyes grew wide at seeing his son cower before him.

“I-I’m sorry Coin… I don’t know what got over me,” Angel sighs, as the fire recedes into his soft coat.

“It’s alright dad,” Coin said, hugging the steaming bunny, “We still miss mom.”

Butterscotch watches, as his long time friend quivered in his son’s embrace. He stays silent, letting the two have their moment.

Once his father was calm and collected, Coin turns to the pegasus, “As you can see… those spirits have nestled in the north.” The rat guides a picture of a dark cloud, “something is feeding them… and their growing stronger everyday.”
Angel grits his teeth, clenching his fist he turns to the stallion. Watching, hoping that they would act.

“I see…” Butterscotch observes the rising storm, “Are they going to make a move?”

Coin shakes his head, “No… so far they’ve stayed in that area… but that’s not the most pressing matter.”

Butterscotch raises an eyebrow, as the picture was replaced with another. A titanic water beast greeted his eyes, causing the stallion to gasp, “Kraken!”

The rat nods, switching to photo with an odd dome, attached to the creatures back, “This was taken ten days ago… you have any idea what it is.”

“It’s a carriage,” Angel cut in, before Butterscotch could answer, “And by the looks of it… Cordelia’s planning something big.”

Butterscotch nods, eying the dome, “Thirty… Fifty tops including the ruler of the largest body of water.”

Angel turns his gaze towards the stallion, “So what now?”

The stallion rubs his head, turning to the frozen females, “I’ll have to break out that old armor…”

“Are you crazy!” Angel cut in, glaring at the stallion, “You almost died because of that thing.”

Silence descended the room, the stallion’s eyes growing soft as he stared at the griffin and grey mare. He slowly turns to face the infuriated bunny.

“I don’t have much of a choice,” he said, closing his eyes, “I need all the power I can get just to stand a chance against those sea ponies.”

“Still,” Angel sighs, his shoulders sagging, “I don’t think you can use that thing… especially when it’s broken into pieces.”

Butterscotch stares at the table, his mind working towards a solution. He looks towards the pair, “Coin… keep me updated on the the threat from the sea.”

The rat nods, “What about the trouble in the North?”

“We’ll deal with it when we can,” Butterscotch quickly said, as to not anger the bunny, “Like you said… their sitting idle for now, but keep me posted nonetheless.”

“Gotcha,” Coin responded, turning to his father, “it’s been great seeing you dad.”

“You too son,” Angel said, smiling he gave his son a farewell hug, “Say hi to the kids for me.”

“Will do pops.” Coin breaks from the embrace, he jumps into the air, as his form is slowly consumed by flames.

A wisp forms before them, the fiery ball of energy flies towards the window. Butterscotch watches as it seeps through the sides of the glass leaving no trace of the once joyous rat.

“So what now?” Angel ask, watching his friend slowly stand.

“Now… we make a call,” Butterscotch said moving towards the kitchen, but pauses at the entrance, “you might want to unfreeze those two.”

Angel nods, hoping off the couch, “I better follow you… just incase you have trouble.”

“Fine,” the stallion said, heading towards the basement door, “Just don’t start flaring when we get there.”

“Like I would do that,” Angel scuffed, turning towards the two females, his eyes glowed as the magic surrounding the two faded.

Entering the cellar, Butterscotch locks the door behind them. They made their way down towards the bowels of the room.

They paused in the center of the room, a path cleared from the stair towards the rear off the room. The stallion bends down, dusting away at the floor.

A finger sized hole appears before him, channeling his magic to arm. He inserts a finger in the hole, he lifts as the slab creeks and strains from it’s forced removal.

Butterscotch moves the lid to the side, in the dim light of the room shown a chest in the hidden compartment. Chains covered the chest, and with a heavy sigh, the stallion removes it from it’s resting place.

“You can still put it back,” Angel said, hoping to wards the stallion a crystal ball floating above him, “There are other options.”

“I know,” Butterscotch keeps his gaze on the old box, “But these are sea ponies we’re dealing with.”

“Yup,” Angel nods his head, watching the box as if the contents will break from it’s hold, “monsters in the sea and stronger than a teenage dragon on land.”

Butterscotch moves towards the chest, his hands wrapping around the chains. With one mighty tug he tears off the chains. Moving slowly, he opens the chest, it’s rusted hinges breaking free from the box as the top follows.

There before the stallion lay a set of armor. The breast plate shaped to protect a mare’s, assets.

“Angel,” Butterscotch said, without breaking his gaze from the armor, “hand me the orb.”

Smoke filled the crystal, as it slowly formed an image of a sleeping emerald dragon.

“Oswald!” Butterscotch screamed into the ball, waking the fire breathing serpent.

“Wah… what’s going on?” Oswald looks around the room, slowly focusing on the crystal ball, “Scotch! Dammit boy you nearly gave me a heart attack!”

“Sorry about that,” Butterscotch apologized, staring at the green reptile, “But I need something… someone actually.”

The dragon raises an eyebrow, “And who is it that you need?” his hands moves towards a pencil and paper.

“I need Rover and his crew,” Butterscotch said, keeping his gaze towards the orb.

“Needing something fixed I see,” Oswald chuckles, pausing from his writing, “Your in luck actually… Rover is making a deal near Equestria for some gems… I’m sure you can get in touch with the dog…”

“Oswald,” Butterscotch cut in, moving the orb over the armor, “It’s not that easy.”

The dragon stares at the feminine armor, his reptilian eyes grew wide, “I’ll makes sure he get’s there by the end of the week… and Scotch.”

The stallion says nothing, but continues to stare at the armor.

“For whatever reason you need to use that thing,” Oswald’s said, his voice growing deep, “be careful it doesn’t consume you.”

Butterscotch nods, ending the flow of mana. The dragon fades from the orb, a the smoke returning to it’s natural form.

Returning the slab to it’s rightful place, he hides the chest in the pile of items. Careful to make it difficult for someone to find, even by accident.

With the orb returned to it’s resting place, the pair head up the stairs. Each having their own thoughts about the events that transpired.
