Cookies!

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

Walking, the two reached Blast's home. It was a simple house, it was one-story and had a white washed outside wall. It was nearly identical to the other homes on the street, apart from the number posted on the door, as well as above the door. The door also was similar to the outside walls, but there was a bronze knocker on it that looked like a small hoof. Underneath the number was a mounted mailbox, it was filled with letters.

Ivy looked up, her blue eyes widened.

"It... Sooooo biiiiig! You wive in a biiiig howse mistwer Bwast."

"It's not that big honey, just big enough for two ponies," he said chuckling.

"But... It biggwer den da howse mommy and daddy wives in..."

"I see," he replied softly as he gave her a small nuzzle.

"Can we make cookies?"

Nudging the filly forwards gently, he smiled.

"Well of course we can, let's go."

She nodded and tried to climb up the stairs, but wasn't able to. Thankfully BLast Shield helped her up them, one at a time. She looked at the door in awe, it was much bigger than her and what she had before. Ivy poked it with her hoof. The feeling of the wood was sturdy, it felt funny. Giggling she pushed on it, and when she did the door opened.

"Did I do dat?!"

Blast grinned and laughed, "Yes you opened the door. Come on, the kitchen is this way."

Leading the filly the two walked into the kitchen. In the kitchen there was an island, it had pots and pans hanging above of it. Around the island were little stools and cupboards under it. To the right of the kitchen was the sink, it had an easy to reach fossett and there were some simple cupboards underneath that as well. To the left and right were two sets of upper cupboards, filled with Ivy only could guess were plates and cups. The theme of the kitchen was black and white, which was interesting as it seemed to fit the earth pony.

"It... it biiig!" Ivy said jumping up and down.

Getting the flour, the salt, milk, sugar, and other ingredients, Blast laughed. Pulling them down and getting ready to make the cookies with little Ivy.

"Well I do suppose it's a rather large kitchen. It does have an island after all. So, care to tell me about your wings little one?"

"Well... I dun know... I has wings.... and hown.... Why?" Ivy said looking down. "Mommy and daddy said... I was... fective...."

Blast frowned, shaking his head. Going over to the filly, he crouched down and nuzzled her.

"You're not defective. You... You're special. Like a little Princess. My little Princess."

"What... fective... mean?"

"Defective means broken, but your not broken."

"Mah wings... dey nu.... dey nu wowk..." Ivy said as she tried to flap her wings, only to flinch in pain after a few flaps.

Blast shook his head as he carefully groomed her wings.

"I'm sure they're just still developing. Don't worry."

"But... dey huwt when I twy to use dem.... I dun know whys."

Blast sadly smiled, he finished cleaning her small wings.

"I'm not sure, I'd have to ask a Pegasus about it."

"Pega... wha?"

Blast chuckled and headed for the counter with the ingredients. He smiled and grabbed a big bowl to mix them all in.

"Pegasus, it's the kind of pony that just has wings. Unicorn is the kind of pony with just a horn. Though some ponies could have both and be called a Pegicorn or an Alicorn."

"What is.... pegi... pegi... and... uh... allycorn?"

"Well a Pegicorn is a pony that has a horn and wings, but they aren't more powerful than unicorns or Pegasi. An Alicorn also has a horn and wings, but they are more powerful than most Unicorns and Pegasi," Blast explained as he mixed up flour and water.

"What... what I?"

"I'm not sure which you are little one. You're too young for us to tell for sure, but if I had to guess I would say your were a Pegicorn."

"Oh... I... Okay...." She replied confused.

She walked around the kitchen, unsure of what to do and what Blast Shield was explaining. She just knew she was different, and it bothered her. It bothered her mommy and daddy, because they dropped her off on the roads. Softly the filly started to cry, her eyes swelling up with tears.

He stopped mixing and walked over to her. He picked her up and hugged her, giving her a kiss on her head.

"Don't worry little one," he said smiling.

"I... Mommy... daddy.... dey... dey dwopped me....dey said.... I... I was useless... dat... I... nu do... good... I... I twied... so hawd...."

"You'll always have a home with me. You'll always be my little Princess."

"Weawwy?"

"Really, really," he said putting Ivy down. "So, ready to help make some cookies?"

"I dun know how."

"I'll teach you," he said smiling. "Come on this way."

"Okay..." Ivy followed behind the earth pony, unsure of what was going to happen next.

"Why don't you be my hooves? I bet you can do a better job than this old stallion can," Blast Shield said smiling.

"I dun know..." she replied as Blast picked her up onto the island counter.

"I believe in you," he said as he nudged the sugar to her, it was already measured out.

"How... how do I pick... pick it up?" Ivy asked.

"Just hold it between your hooves honey."

"O-okay..." Ivy said, but just as she picked it up, it fell all over her, staining her green coat white.

"I... I... I messed up! I sowwy!!"

"It's okay little one," Blast poured new sugar. "Try again."

"But... I... I made mess...."

Blast chuckled as he got some more sugar and put it in the cup once again.

"It's okay, let's try again.'

Ivy nodded, taking the cup in her hooves as she lifted it up, only to spill most of the sugar onto the counter, onto her, and maybe a few little teaspoons into the bowl.

"Sowwy!!!"

"Don't worry, it's alright. You're getting better though," he said cleaning once again and putting the right amount of sugar needed.

Ivy tried once more, holding the sugar in hooves and dropping it into the bowl.

"YAY I DID IT!"

"Very good," he said as he nuzzled her, smiling widely.

"I did it! I did it!"

"Yes you did. Next the eggs... This will be tricky, we have to be careful of getting the shell in the mixture."

"Uh-oh..."

"I have a little tool to fetch the shell if it does get in, you'll just need to give me room. I have to hold things in my muzzle cause of my leg."

"O-okay... " Ivy backed away slowly and carefully.

He chuckled and grabbed her by her neck scruff.

"Nof now silly."

"Huh?" The green filly looked up at him confused.

He put her down and nudged her towards the eggs he had pulled out.

"We have to break the eggs first silly."

"Ohhh," Ivy said looking down. "I dun know how..."

"Just pick it up and tap it on the side of the bowl. Hopefully it will break," Blast said smiling.

"But how....?"

"Uh..." Blast paused, thinking for a moment.

"Sowwy."

"It's okay, it's just been a while for me..."

"I... I dun know what... what to dooooo."

"Best I can remember, I could stand on just my hind legs and use both my forehooves to hold the egg... do you think you can stand on two legs?"

"I dun know...."

Blast shifted himself carefully so he was standing right behind her.

"Wanna try? You can hold onto me for balance."

"I-I gwess," the shy filly said looking at the eggs.

"I know you can do it. It might just take a few tries," Blast said smiling.

"O-okay..."

The stallion pushed himself onto his hind-legs and before falling he held onto Ivy with his good hoof. With that the filly tried to lift the fragile egg, but it only turned on her. It splattered all over her white belly, leaving her a mess of sugar and egg. She squirmed, the feeling of egg on her coat wasn't the sweetest, instead it was the stickiest!

"EWWWWIES!"

Blast chuckled, seeing the filly try was just so cute for him.

"It's alright, try again," he said nudging another egg towards her.

"I fweel gwoss," said Ivy in a disgusted tone.

Right then the white stallion picked up the filly by the scruff of her neck and headed out of the kitchen. He walked into a hallway, it seemed to go on forever, at least to Ivy. She watched as the two walked further and stopped to turn right. The two walked into a bathroom.

The bathroom was almost pristine clean. It had a small walk-in tub with a sink right to the left of it. Above the sink was a mirror, it was a round one, the boarder was a nice black. The walls of the room were white, the floor black-and-white checkerboard patterning. There also was a rug right in the center. Looking to the right Ivy saw a box, it was a laundry basket, filled with different clothing articles. She giggled, and saw a rack covered in towels.

"Now, let's wash you up then," Blast said putting her into the tub.

"Wee," the filly said as she went towards the running water and splashing at it. "EEEEE!"

Blast chuckled as he grabbed the soap. He carefully lathered the filly in soap, cleaning her up. Ivy giggled, squirming slightly when he tried to clean her belly.

"Dat tickles."

Looking up at Blast, her blue eyes got big and she looked as happy as could be.

"Yay!"

He smiled and nuzzled her.

"Such a sweet little one."

Ivy giggled more as she stuck her tongue out at Blast. He in return licked her cheek once he finished cleaning her fur from the egg and sugar.

"Heehee," she squealed as Blast picked her up from the tub and put a clean towel around her.

"Yay! I fweel cweeeeaaaannnn!"

"Yes you're all clean now. Maybe I should call my friend and see if he'll help us bake," the stallion said as he took the towel off of Ivy.

"Fwiend?"

Blast nodded as he picked her up and hugged her, again.

"Yes, he's pretty good with his hooves. Always put me to shame in the training exercises."

"I wan to meet himmmm."

Blast nodded putting her down and headed towards the kitchen, a filly following him close behind. She smiled the entire way, her hooves leaving small wet spots behind her.

"Alright, I'll give him a call."

Ivy ran around Blast as the stallion picked up the phone from the counter on the right. He waited for the phone to pick up as he spoke. Ivy didn't pay attention to what he said, instead she was focused on how many circles she could make around Blast before he finished on the phone.

About a half an hour passed, Ivy was curled up on the couch in the living room, right next to her new friend. She looked up at him hearing the sound of knocking.

"Fwiend?"

"That must be Flame Storm," Blast said getting off of the couch, Ivy following in close pursuit.

Blast opened the door to a dark red Pegasus. His mane spiked, his tail spiked, both of which brown. He had golden eyes and his hooves were a dark brown. He held himself high, but not nearly as high as Blast, and once the two stallions met Flame smiled.

"Hey Flame, how have you been?" Blast asked noticing a green filly behind him.

"Eh, not bad, so what did you need me for?"

"Cookies!!" Ivy squeaked in.

"I hear... a foal...?"

Ivy peaked her head from behind Blast's hind-legs, a small pink blush on her cheeks.

"Now, who is THIS cutie?!" Flame said.

"This is Ivy, I adopted her. We're attempting to make cookies, the eggs have proved too much for our forces," Blast said shaking his head.

"I got awl gwoooooooossss!"

Flame grinned and chuckled as he followed behind the two ponies.

"Well you were pretty bad with your hooves."

"That I was... Only got worst after... well now anyway I think I promised a little filly delicious cookies, gunna help?"

"Pweeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaase!?"

"Sure."

"Then let's make cookies."

The counter was covered in a mess of sugar, flour, and eggs. It was such a glorious mess that the filly and stallion grinned. Ivy didn't have a smear on her, but Blast on the other hoof was covered in it.

"We are the best chiefs," Blast said grinning from ear to ear.

"Yus!"

"What in the name of Celestia happened?" Flame asked blinking in surprise.

"The sugar could not be tamed, we had a vicious battle but eventually came out victorious."

"I got it in."

"After this, I want to talk to you, okay?" Flame whispered in Blast's ear.
