Good and Evil

That night Twilight was laying in her bed watching her door intently, waiting to see if Shade would come in to end her. “You know if you don’t trust the guy then why did you let him stay instead of telling the princess?” Spike yawned sitting up in his little bed.

“I don’t know, there’s that little part about it that seems almost.....Pony, like he doesn’t want to hurt anypony but the way he looks...” She also sat up looking down at Spike with worried eyes. “What if he does decides to hurt us? What if he decides to hurt all of Ponyville?” Spike put up his fist and grinned.

“Don’t worry Twi! If he dos then I’ll handle him!” Twilight smiled softly.

“I bet you could Spike.” She looked out the window and into the night sky. She didn’t expect to see Shade sitting on the ground below looking up at the moon. The light the moon was giving off made him easier to see, Twilight thought she couldn’t see him before and just thought his pelt was black but no it was all dark! His eyes were still pitch white and gazing up, unmoving, at the moon as if under a spell. “What’s he doing?” She wondered out loud.

“What?” Spike jumped up onto her bed and looked out the window as well. “Dude that’s creepy, he’s just sorta sitting there with a blank stare.” He shuddered a bit and went back into his bed. “Let’s hope he stay out there.” Just then steam started raising of his body.

“I’m going to go check on him.” Twilight jumped out of her bed and walked for the door.

“Be careful Twi.” She nodded and went down stairs and to the front door.

“*Sigh* Here we go...” She opened the front door and stepped out into the cool night air. She looked around and took a step forward. When she was fully outside she closed the door and walked around the tree house to where Shade was sitting. “Um hey Shade, what are you doing out here? It’s freezing.” He looked at her then back to the moon.

“Admiring the Light.” His voice was in a somewhat whisper. “The only time I can truly gaze on its beauty is now, without it hurting me to an unbearable state.” His voice sent shivers up her spine. “And for the fact that it’s cold helps sooth the burning.” He looked at her then to the ground. “I wish I could find that light that did not burn, the one that drove me here.” Twilight had taken notice of the sadness in his voice now.

“Well....” She had to think, telling him she would help him find this ‘light’ would have him around longer and more possibility of threat but telling him that she couldn’t help would hurt his feelings. “......I’ll help you.” She declared. He looked up at her his eyes a bit wider.

“Y-you will?” He seemed excited. This made Twilight smile.

“Yes! Now let’s get you inside before you......burn to death.” She herded him inside and into his room. “Tomorrow I will look for a spell to remove that thing you have with the light burning.” Another smiled broke its way onto his face. “Well, goodnight.”

“Goodnight Twilight Sparkle.” He crawled into the bed and the white orbs that are his eyes closed. Twilight went back into her room and saw Spike sleeping soundly. She smiled and jumped into her bed. Maybe this won’t be as bad as she thought.

“Twilight.” Spike poked Twilights side. “Twi.” Twilight let out a muffled ‘what?’. “Shade is downstairs looking at the books. I thought you would like to know.” Twilight shot up.

“He’s just looking at them?” He nodded and she sighed.

“Well at least none of the girls are coming over...” As if on cue the door to the front door burst open and the voice of Rainbow Dash called.

“Hey Twi I’m here to take the next Daring....” She stopped and then screamed. Twilight and Spike shot down the stairs and saw Dash bucking at Shade like she was on fire. “WHAT DID YOU DO WITH TWI!?” She screamed again hitting Shade right in the jaw.

“If you would look to your left you would see what happened.” He said calmly as if he was never hit. Dash looked over to Twilight with a look of joy.

“TWILIGHT!” She hug tackled her. “Oh I thought that monster ate you or something and was messing with your books or something!” She looked up at Shade. “What is that thing? Some sorta spell gone wrong?” Twilight shook her head and pushed Dash off of her.

“You could say he’s my guest and you hit him in the jaw!” She walked over to Shade and took his face in her hoof. “Are you alright?” She was checking where he got kicked.

“I am alright Twilight Sparkle.” He looked over at Dash which made her flinch. “Who are you?”

“I-I’m Rainbow Dash! Fastest flyer in all Equestria!” She struck a pose. “And what the heck are you?” He stared at her blankly. “Ok....Who are you?”

“Twilight Sparkle has chosen to call me Shade.” He looked at Twilight who had let go of his face.

“Well what are you even doing here?” Dash continued with a raised eyebrow.

“I was looking for a light. Twilight Sparkle could you close the door?” Twilight nodded and closed the door. It was almost pitch black.

“What the hay did you do that for?” Dash looked at Twilight.

“Well the light burns him and well we don’t want to seem rude.” Dash gave her a look then looked back at Shade.

“So why do you need to stay and Twi’s house? Can’t you just find a cave somewhere?” Shade pondered this then shook his head.

“I am not one to reject kindness. That is truly rude.”He turned back to the open book on the table. Dash flew over to Twilight and whispered.

“Real keeper you got there.” Twilight blushed.

“Hey it’s not like that! I’m just helping the poor guy.” Dash dragged her outside.

“‘He’? How do you know it’s a he?” Twilight was getting a bit mad.

"Because he told me himself! Why can’t you be a bit understanding?”

“Look at him! He looks like something from a horror story!” That was agreeable.

“But he’s no monster! He hasn’t hurt anypony at all since he’s been here and I don’t think he will any time soon!” They stood there arguing for some time until Dash finally calmed down.

“Fine fine, let’s just let the others see him. That way we can keep a better eye on him.” Twilight sighed and nodded.
