Good and Evil

“So you thought I looked like this?” Shade looked down to a open book where a picture of a tall pony with a white pelt and black suit, it also had no face. “I look nothing like this horror.” He turned his head to Applejack who had a sheepish grin on.

“Ah’ma sorry, heat of the moment.” She admitted. “Ah remember Granny Smith tellin Mac and Ah about this feller, and you look a lot like him.” Shade looked back to the book and kept reading.

“This story is interesting, how can something like this be real? It is clearly fiction, you have nothing to fear.” He looked back over to her and put on that creepy smile he has. She flinched back a bit but smiled warmly at him.

“Thanks.” She turned to the window. “Ah can’t believe you fixed that so fast.” Shade only nodded. Rarity and Spike had left to work on Shade’s suit, she said it would be finished before the day was done. So that left Applejack and Pinkie who was eating the rest of the cake. Applejack had just gotten done apologizing for the millionth time to Shade and had shown him what she thought he looked like at first. As of now Shade was looking at the balloons, interested by the color and how it got that way (He dosin’t know much,). Poking on with a dark tendril, he jumped back when it popped. Applejack and Pinkie were dieing of laughter at his even wider white eyes.

“Alright, so let me get this.” Twilight glared at Rainbow Dash. “Got it?” Dash sighed and nodded. Twilight smiled and knocked on Fluttershy’s door. After a moment and some sounds of hooves walking around the door opened to the softly smiling face of Fluttershy.

“Oh, hello Twilight, Rainbow Dash. What can I help you with?” She asked with a warm smile for her friends.

“Well,” Twilight began glaring at Dash. “We have a visitor to Ponyville and he’ll be staying at the library for the mean time. We would like you to come visit him.” Fluttershy thought for a moment then looked at her uneasily.

“W-well alright.” She let out a small grin.

“Alright!” Dash pumped her hoof. “Everypony else it there too! So let’s go meet up with them!” Dash then grabbed them both and flew towards the library at full speed.

“No.”

“Aww come on! It would be so cool!” Spike was begging Shade to make everyponies shadow dance.

“I don’t see why you would need me to do that. It does not contribute to anything productive.” Shade stated with a flat tone. Spike was on his knees trying to get him to do it.

“Come ooooooooooooooooooooooooooonnnn! Girls help me out here!” He turned his head to the girls who were cracking up.

“Oh please do Shade, it would look like we were at a party with your new suit on and everything!” Pinkie and Applejack nodded in agreement. Shade looked at them and then back to Spike.

“*Sigh* Very well.” He looked all around the room as it began to shake. The shadows of everypony there got up and started walking around blankly.

“Is that all they do?” Pinkie walked up to hers and tried to poke it when it’s hoof lifted up like hers. “Whoa! Cool!” She hooped around the library with her shadow following doing the same. Applejack walked over to hers and stuck her hoof forward, it doing the same. She chuckled and shook it’s hoof.

“Nice to meet cha Applejack!” Rarity was closely inspecting hers. Shade had his suit on so some lights were on.

“All I need his a hood and I can go outside.” He mumbled as everyone was having fun with their shadows, Spike was posing in front of his, acting like a tough guy.

Twilight, Dash, and Fluttershy were outside the door listening to the laughter. “Well, it seems like he made friends with everypony already.” Dash laughed and opened the door to see everypony dancing around with their shadows. “What the?” Pinkie spotted her and bounced over, her shadow in pursuit.

“Hiya Dash! Twilight! Fluttershy! Hurry up Shade might not make anymore!” Twilight looked at Fluttershy who was cowering behind her from the Pinkie shadow.

“Um, Shy it’s just a shadow.” Pinkie smiled at her. “And Shade is a nice guy too! Wait is he a colt? He sounds like a colt.” Pinkie muttered bouncing off with her shadow. Twilight noticed some lights were on and walked in, Dash dragging Fluttershy in.

“What the hay?” She muttered and looked over at Shade, wearing a new suit no less. “Shade! How are you able to stand in the light and how did you get that- oh never mind.” She just remembered that Rarity offered to make him a suit, and it looked to be blocking out the light to him. “Anyway this is Fluttershy.” Twilight turned her head towards Fluttershy who was hiding behind Dash.

“Greetings again Twilight Sparkle, Rainbow Dash, and the scared pony Fluttershy.” He walked over to Twilight and looked at Fluttershy. “Why do you fear me?” He asked softly leaning his head down a bit. She let out a soft whimper, to everyone’s sadness the shadows vanished. “No more shadows.” He muttered. Fluttershy looked up and around and just saw everyone, without the shadows following them. She looked up at Shade and recoiled at the sight of his pure white eyes.

“Shy, come on he’s not a bad guy.” Dash said taking a step to the side and letting Shy see him full on. His suit covering most of his dark coat.

“H-hi.” She muttered. A smile cracked onto Shade’s face.

“Greeting Fluttershy, I am Shade.” He extended a hoof towards her. She grasped it lightly with her’s and shook lightly.

-----Later that night!-----

Twilight was writing a letter that would go to the princess while Shade was playing chess with Spike again, and winning.

‘Dear princess Celestia,

I learned today you shoulden’t judge a pony by what he looks like, this new pony came to town by the name of Shade and just about scared everypony half to death! But really he his a nice guy, and he seems to be very good a chess because he his making Spike yell out in rage, giving him the cracked smile.
