Spike awoke to loud noise coming from outside the library. Forcing himself out of his bed he noticed two letters and a note. The note read 'Spike please send the letter for the Princess as soon as you wake up'. Not questioning the letter he sent it to the princess. Discarding the other for a moment to see what the ruckus was. He opened the door to see people rejoicing and celebrating. Surprised he looked around and saw that Ponyville was back to normal and Discord was no where to be seen. But then he noticed his friends Pinkie Pie, Rarity, Applejack, Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash crying. But he also noticed that they were no longer gray. They were back to there normal self. Except Pinkie still had her straight hair.They looked up and noticed Spike. Rarity beckoned for him to come over.
With tears in her eyes she said "Im so sorry Spike, were so sorry" she then seemed to choke on her words.
Applejack then turned to him and in a wavering voice said "Spike she's dead we couldn't help her so she took matters in her own hoofs". Spike was confused at first wondering what the heck they were talking about.
But then he realized Twilight was not around. "No" Spike chocked "Twilight can't be dead. She would never do that. She would never leave me" Without realizing it tears were now leaking out of his eyes.
"Spike" Rarity said. But Spike didn't listen to what she had to say. He instead turned around and ran full speed back to the library. He ran around the library. He searched every inch of it. He then went and collapsed onto his bed in tears. Spike rolled over and noticed the note. In his panicked frenzy he had forgotten all about it. With his hands trembling he picked up the letter and began to read it.
Dearest Spike,
Right now Im writing to you everything you need to know. For I will soon no longer be in this world. You see the other night I found a book. It had a spell inside that would help me defeat Discord. it would turn him into nothing. Just particles. But you see it comes with a horrible price. It will take my life away. I will disappear and never be able to return to this world. But if is the price I pay to save Equestria, my friends and my family then its a price worth paying. But there was one thing that held me from doing it right then and there. You. Spike you don't know but I always thought of you as my son. I never told you for fear you just thought of me as a friend, a boss or a sister. So I kept it to myself. But I eventually decided that by doing this it would be for your well being. So I took the risk and decided to defeat Discord to keep you safe.

10 Years Later
Spike silently sat in front of the grave. Silently he placed a single flower by the base of the headstone. Trying to keep his feelings in check he stood up and said to himself "I miss you more then you can ever imagine, I wish you had been there for the wedding. I've never seen our friends so happy like that since your death. I'll never forget you. But the fact that you missed the wedding and you will soon miss the birth of your first grandchild. You'll never get to see the humongous statue dedicated to you. Its the best one of the bunch." Sighing Spike got up and looked at the grave feeling tears coming into his eyes.
"Come on honey you don't want to catch a cold do you?" Sweetie Belle said gently. Spike looked at his pregnant wife and nodded. Before he walked away he said one more thing to the grave
"I miss so much mom. I promise to come back next year with your grandchild." Then he walked back home with his wife.
The grave read ' Twilight Sparkle; Element of Magic, Hero of Equestria, Great friend and Loving mother. She will always be remembered.
Twilight Sparkle gazed out her window as she watched the chaos caused by Discord rage on. She turned as she went to her desk. Picking up her quill with magic she began to write a letter to Spike explaining to him everything he need to and more. Then after putting it next to the sleeping dragon she began to write her last letter to Princess Celestia.
Dear princess, I should have seen the signs
Chaos has risen again after all this time
Somehow I have to escape from
This nightmare of a world ours has become
What happened to the nation we all knew
We're crushed under Discord's rule
Where has harmony gone?
Feels like Equestria has been gone for so long
One last thing
That I've got to say
One more report
Before it's too late
I'm begging you to stop this chaos today
One last thing
That I gotta prove
One final goodbye
Before we meet our doom
Something happened to the peace that we all knew
This is my one last letter to you
I've tried to stop this on my own
But my friends have turned against me, I'm alone
So many, running and screaming
I'm crying out, can you hear me?
I refuse to believe that magic is dead
There has to be more than the conflict in my head
Dear princess, help me find a way
To defeat the chaos rising today

Then with a heavy heart Twilight set the letter next to Spike with a note explaining to send it to the princess when he woke up.
Twilight stepped outside and began to think of the last several days. Her friends betrayal, Discords chaos and worst of all the thought of the end of Equestria. Twilight had poured herself into her books to find something that would help. Then one late evening after reading through the same book for a fourth time she found. The book with a spell to defeat Discord. But it came with a heavy price. But Twilight knew she would have to save Equestria so she was willing to do it. To save her friends and family. She came upon Discord sitting on his throne.
"Ooooo look the Element of Magic has returned. But without her friends. I do hope I didn't cause a riff between you" Discord gloated.
"Enough Discord I have come here to defeat you" Twilight cried cause her to gain the attention of some pony's, including her friends.
Then reading her self she recited the spell in her head. Then she let her magical blast leave her firing upon Discord. She heard a cry of anguish then everything went black.
