Chapters Publish he pressed.
"That ought to bring it up to a thousand".
He went to view his story:
612 Words
HOW!?
How can one write so little and feel the've written so much?
He despaired. There was nothing left to write about. He had already written about writing. What else was there to write? Some drama?
"Ok," he said.
Just then a mare burst in.
O.C. turned and gasped at what he saw.
"Clarissa!?"
"Yes it is I," she responded. "And I know your dark secret!"
He gasped, " I don't believe it!"
"Yes!" she exclaimed. "It's that you're incredibly bored."
She continued, " Yes, writing 600 pages of filler for a 300 page story bores you!"
He tried to interject, " That only adds up to nine-"
"Shutup you get the idea!"
"You're right, I'm bored. Let's go on an adventure."
"An adventure where."
"Somewhere far away in time and in space."
"Seems difficult."
"Somewhere few have seen and none have traveled."
"And expensive."
He slumped down.
Clarissa gained a worried expression.
"What' wrong O.C.?"
He spoke between sobs, "600 words, Clarissa. Only 600 words."
He collapsed into her arms.
She looked around, "What?".
He shook his head, "Both my stories are only 600 words... Wait you made a comment about the word count earlier."
"Yes, but that was before I was a character and more of a joke."
"Ah." He replied.
It all made sense.
He returned to his laptop and saved what he had already written.
Maybe it's been enough , he thought.
He crossed his fingers and hoped he had written enough...
924 words.
He sighed. He shook his head
He thought:
Readers will ask, "Why didn't you just write another fanfiction?"
His only response was that he knew he would never write another. His genius work would sit, remaining unread in his documents folder. Months, years to come. He couldn't let that happen. With a new motivation in his heart, and courage in his bones, he once more began to write. He wrote and wrote and wrote and wrote. He sized up his writing. 76 words yet? No. He grew frustrated. Sigh , he thought: people will read this and asked themselves, "What the hell is this, he's just writing his thoughts."
They'd be wrong. His story was entirely a work of fiction.
He looked back at the word count. Sighed a sigh of relief when he saw the blessed number.
1051
My god he smiled. I've done it.
uh.. And then he died.
So did Clarissa.
The end.
Chapter 1
I threw open my bedroom door. Let's see, what was I gonna need? My wing-blades of course. A map?
“Cloud Kicker”
I opened my closet and lifted a heavy box.
“Cloud Kicker” This time she spoke with more force.
“Yeah?” I finally said. I stopped what I was doing to turn and look at her. More dramatic and the like.
“Cloud Kicker don't do this”. Pity was in her voice.
“It's my Mom, Blossom.”
“I know but-”
I cut her off, “How could you know? Huh Blossom?”
She looked away.
“Well just because I'm adopted-”
Oh Celestia that's not what I meant.
She continued, “Doesn't mean that I haven't-”
I stopped her, “That's not, what I meant Blossom. I'm Just.... You don't understand my... family dynamic ok?”
“Uh huh,” she was skeptical.
“What?” I was, of course, genuinely surprised at this point.
“Well it's just. I think it's BS.”
Well I was offended.
“Blossom-”
“Hold your horses Cloud Kicker.” She interrupted me again.
“I think it sucks that your mom is missing. Ok? you hear me? I totally think it does, but I also know that you've always hated her. Right? So now tell me this isn't just an excellent chance for you to,”
She waved her hand aimlessly trying to find the words.
“Run away!”.
She was right, in hindsight of course.
“To save my Mom? Of course I-”
“Away from me, Cloud Kicker. Away from us .”
“I...” Didn't know what to say...
Maybe I should kiss her.
Of course, that didn't work last time.
I need a way out of this!
“Uh...” I started.
I needed a way out of that,
So, of course, I ran, taking the term out literally.
“Cloud Kicker!” I heard a scream from behind me.
It was too late. By then, my wings were open and I was lifting off from Ponyville. Little did I know, never to return.
I Just Wanted to Post A Fanfiction
O.C., the pony, looked at his screen, one eyebrow raised in confusion. Before him a long list of rules and regulations appeared, at the bottom of which, in bold letters read: Problems Submitting? Make sure your story is at least 1,000 words long and has a short description provided . He, of course, knew about this rule from before, but thought he could slip his story in unnoticed. He did not know that his story would be shut down before it saw the light of day.
"Woe is me!" He cried.
"A genius fanfiction! Soiled by.... uh... FLIM-fiction! (A fictional website. any similarities between this and FIMfiction are dumb. and I hate them.)
A single tear fell from his eye.
"Why? How could this happen?" He sobbed on the floor.
"WHY DO YOU HAT ME GOD!" His fists pounded on the floor.
Then, an idea. As brilliant as it was fantastic.
"Write more words!" It all seemed so simple now.
"Wait!" he realized. "It said in the rules you can't write filler to increase word count. And there's risk of permanent ban!"
He dropped back to his knees. Hopelessness enveloping him once more.
A wild thought appeared.
What if it's a story!
"What?" he responded.
What if you fill the word count with an actual story? Then it's not filler, it's another story.
"My God you're a genius," He elated.
I know.
There's no time to waste!
He sprang up and returned to his laptop.
Only one thing left to ponder.
What would he write about...
