"What? Where am I?"
Ben opened his eyes and glanced down. He tried to move but was restrained at both wrists by two dainty, metal shackles. He clenched his hands and tried to wriggle free, but it was no use. The room was dark with only a few shafts of light piecing in through the slits in the rafters. It was cold and there was a somewhat eerie atmosphere. Ben tried to move his legs, noticing more shackles locked to each of his ankles. He was not going anywhere soon.
There was a sudden change in the lighting. A small shadow edged its way along the ceiling, and it drew ever closer towards him. It paused above Ben; he shivered.
"Welcome, stranger, to my kingdom. My rightful kingdom," uttered a voice from out of the darkness.
Ben could sense his heart racing, his fear of the voice was building.
"Can you not speak? I thought you were supposed to be able to talk. Maybe I'm not speaking clearly enough".
There was a long, painful silence. Ben could sense a distinct presence in the room, moving in the darkness. He heard a noise behind him, and then a light touch on the back on his neck. He tried to remain calm.
"Lets try this again, shall we" said the voice, now louder. "I am the Queen of this world and you will answer me when I command it. Now speak!" - there was a hint of growing frustration and anger in the voice.
Nervously Ben spoke, "Hello, yes I can talk, most people can, unless they're..-"
"Silence already!" interrupted the voice. "At least I now know that I can talk with you. Yes, you'll do nicely." Ben remained silent. He felt something run down his back and then back up to his neck; the touch was gentle and relaxing. "Now if you do exactly what I say, you'll be unharmed. Disobey me and you shall be punished." Ben's neck began to clench; something was pressing down on it with force.
"Now, look at me!" A figure appeared in the darkness; Ben could not make out any details. The figure lunged closer; he could make out two eyes, glowing green out of the darkness. He fidgeted in his chair, trying one last time to break free. The eyes got closer, both focused on Ben. Suddenly they jumped forward, right close to him. He could make out the faint outline of a face; harsh, sharp features and a small strand of turquoise hair hanging down slightly over one eye. The creature whispered, "Do you promise to obey me, every one of my commands?"
Ben remained still for as long as he thought he could. Eventually he found the courage to speak, "I will obey every command you give me."
"Oh good. I was hoping you'd say that." The face pressed up to him and he felt a kiss on his left cheek. He trembled slightly but remained still whilst the creature caressed his neck and back. "Kiss me" demanded the creature. Ben stared helplessly into the unnerving eyes. "I said kiss me!" ordered the creature. Outside Ben found himself in a dark forest. The trees were grimy and bent over, and thick nets of ivy blocked out any sunlight from above. "Well if you've got no place to stay, you can always stay at the farm tonight, Big Mac won't mind an' it'll be dark soon."
"As long as it's no bother, that would be fantastic; thank you" Ben said delightedly.
"Sure! It's no problem at all! I'll take you there now, I was about to head back anyway". Applejack walked down the road towards the farm and beckoned Ben to follow. "So what business do you have with the Princess, Ben?" asked Applejack.
He quickly fabricated a lie, "I've got a message to deliver, from a friend of hers" he said. Applejack looked at him puzzled.
"Sounds important, if you came all the way out here to tell her. What were you doing in the Everfree forest anyway?" spoke Applejack.
"I lost my way and ended up in the forest, I'm glad I managed to find my way out" lied Ben again.
They continued on towards the farm and they soon arrived at the entrance; Applejack ran ahead to open the gate. "Come on in! I'm afraid everyone's out today, so you'll get to meet everyone tomorrow!" she beckoned. "You can stay in the barn tonight, there's loads of room 'cause Big Mac's not in." Ben chose to ignore her running commentary and just nodded.
