Chapter Six - Celestia's Tale Part 1
Previous ChapterSix Thousand Years Ago
"Sister, thou should control thine temptations for the sweets. They have made thine form soft and pliable." Luna laughed, her graceful form skipping ahead as the older alicorn followed directly behind her. Luna's form was much more different than what most ponies of today would have though. While she still retained her overall height difference to the olden tribes, her form was much more 'soft' in appearance. Her mane wasn't ethereal in nature as it was only a very light azure color, her coat being of a dry blue and her eyes were a much brighter cyan. To say that the younger alicorn was beautiful would have surely been an understatement of the century.
"Sister, thou should control thine tongue before we control it for thee." Celestia said, a slight frown now adorn upon her face as she followed after the giggling mare at her moderate pace. Celestia, much like her sister, was a lot different in olden times as she also lacked the ethereal mane which was iconic of her visage. Instead, it was replaced by a mane of pale heliotrope, her eyes much brighter and filled with youth and her coat was that of a pure alabaster. Her very form was that of pure divinity.
"We art merely joking with thee for thou lag behind us." Luna said, a soft smile gracing her face as she stopped and allowed her sister to move up to her side. The very sight of a smile upon the young alicorn's face warmed Celestia's heart and that slight frown slowly turned into a smile as she caressed her little sister's face with a nuzzle.
"We know thou art merely joking but pray tell-" Celestia said, pausing for merely a brief moment as she allowed her neck to rotate, her magenta eyes taking in the surrounding area before returning to Luna once more. "What are we doing in this accursed place?" Celestia asked, her right hoof raised from the ground as she gently shook off the muck which clung to it.
"That is easy, Sister. We are exploring the lands of Equis before we reveal ourselves to our little ponies. We cannot rule the lands if we know nothing of it. This forest like area is strange for it seems to care for itself." Luna said, allowing her right hoof to exaggeratedly present the strange forest to Celestia.
The forest itself was an enigma within the realms of Equis for most of nature was tended to by either the ponies or various races which lived within their predetermined districts. This forest, on the other hand, seemed to care for it's own as the weather would rage dramatically for a moment before peacefully giving way to the sun light. Plants grew wildly and the animals of the forest hunt one another for nourishment. These reasons were reasons enough to keep many of creatures from attempting to forage the land. Griffons had tried multiple times to take hold of this forest but many were met with grim fates at the hands of the creatures that lurked within the forest.
"Strange, thou speaketh as though thou hath been here before." Celestia said, giving her little sister a firm glare which was only met with a rather sheepish look in response.
"We might have wandered through a few times before, alone." Luna responded, a light blush touching her cheeks as she turned away from her sister and began to slowly stroll through the underbrush. Luna's response had only earned itself an exaggerated groan from the elder of the two, who began to follow after the younger. To think that her younger sister would just blatantly risk her life at the hands of this estrange forest, it was slightly unthinkable. At least, until Luna had blatantly said she had, only moments ago.
Their journey through the forest began, hooves meeting the occasional pile of muck which littered the forest floor, eyes darting towards the shadows as shapes weaved through the endless sea of trees, ears swiveling to pick up the occasional sound of twigs snapping. The entire forest was ghastly in appearance, at least up until they wandered into a strange enigma that certainly shouldn't have been there.
After a few hours of wandering the forest, they happened upon a strange piece of architecture that shouldn't have been within this type of area. Said architecture was that of an olden castle, pieces of brick littering the grounds around the gate and tattered pieces of banners hung along the outside of the wall. Only two banners remained of the seemingly endless amount which had once covered the wall, both were blood red in design and both featured the black outline of a blade pointing down towards the ground. The air was eerily cold, almost as if the sun itself dare not touch this forsaken palace. Where Celestia's nerves told her to turn back, Luna apparently had different ideas.
"Sister, this is amazing! Never before hath our eyes fallen upon such architecture! It looks absolutely ancient!" Luna called, her voice full of excitement as her hooves gently touched at the brick and mortar. It seemed that where Celestia would naturally turn away, Luna's curiosity was peaked. She began to slowly stroll forward, her form pushing past the broken down gate way which lead towards the inner workings of the castle. Celestia could only raise a hoof at her sister, a scared look in her eyes as she called out to Luna.
"Sister, maybe this isn't such a good idea. The structural integrity might not be sound. We should leave at once!" Celestia called, pulling out the big cards at this point as she tried to get Luna to turn around and leave this place. A soft voice at the back of her head told her that this place was something that they shouldn't mess with. Instead, Luna's curiosity only seemed to flourish as her tip toeing towards the inner workings of the castle only seemed to grow into a swift trot as she disappeared into the darkness. Celestia could only scrunch her muzzle in irritation, a hoof pawing at the ground before she took off at a brisk trot to catch up to her sister.
'If only I had tried harder to convince Luna to leave that place be...'
"Sister, this is truly magnificent! Never before hath mine eyes taken in something so, magical." Luna said, her breath was short as she and her sister slowly trotted into what appeared to have once been a throne room. The place was now barren, losing itself to the elements as bits of moss and many other plant life sought to reclaim the area. Upon the wall across from them, a massive stone door rested and depicted the shape of the sun and the moon upon it's flat surface. The entire area was encased in runes which were carved deeply into stone. Next to the door rested two statues, one which took the form of various parts of creatures put into one and the other was of a large centaur like creature. Something warning her that they should leave, a soft voice in the back of her mind telling her to run.
"We hath explored enough, Luna. Let us leave so we may plan for our entry into the po-" Celestia's eyes went wide as a shrill scream rang out from her sister. It seemed, that while Celestia had decided to speak, Luna had wandered onto a particular rune which depicted a crescent moon surrounded by a circle. Once she had wandered atop the rune, a sort of barrier had surrounded the Alicorn, lifting her into the air as tendrils of magic nipped at her horn. "Luna!" Celestia screamed, running towards her sister before a sense of weightlessness overtook her form.
She had found herself atop the sun rune, the magic which vibrated in the air took hold of the poor mare and lifted her much like it had done to her sister. It was then that she felt the rune tugging at her magic, siphoning it from her horn and into the ground beneath her. Slowly, the circles which encompassed the sun and moon filled until bursting and began filling the rest of the runes within the room. Both mares screamed out in agony, their forms contorting in the air as light filled every rune within the room and the air seemed to vibrate violently with magic. It was then that the moon and sun upon the doors lit up, much like the runes, and a soft click rang out within the room.
At the sound of the click, both mares were dropped to the floor, their hooves pawing softly at the ground as they lost every sense of balance which naturally came to them. There was a soft hiss and the sound of stone rubbing against stone filled the room. Both pair of Alicorn eyes attempted to look forward, watching the door slowly swing outwards and revealed another room, this one being completely white in nature.
Their eyes focused at the object which was contained within the room, a massive throne which a strange creature rested upon. It's hair flowed within the ethereal winds and it's fingers began to tightly grip at the arm rests of the throne. It seemed to grumble to itself softly, it's eyes slowly opening to reveal nothing but white and it's muzzle seemed to pull back into a toothy grin as it slowly stood from it's throne. It was massive in size, easily towering over the two Alicorns as it released a soft chuckle that only seemed to evolve into a straight out evil laugh.
"Looks like I am back! This time Equis shall belong to me, Zetta!" Zetta called out, his hand gripped at the sword which rested against his throne and he began his walk from the room. Slowly the doors closed behind him, his head nearly touching the ceiling of the gigantic room. It's empty eyes seemed to scan the room, falling upon the two weakened Alicorns, which it seemed to ignore, before falling on the two statues which waited at both sides of the door. "Wake up you two bumbling fools! We have much to do and many things to change." Zetta said, a single hand waved across the two statues which caused the stone to slowly crumble off of the two forms.
"Ah, it certainly feels nice to stretch one's back after such a long imprisonment." The mixed up creature said, it's talon and pawed hands snapping against one another as it seemed to snap every single bone inside of it's body before it bowed to the creature which towered over it.
"Argh! I still can't believe that accursed Alicorn was able to get through the defenses! How dare she trap me within stone for so long!" The centaur roared, it's front hooves smashing into the bricks in anger as a soft chuckle only seemed to leave Zetta's lips at the sight of his frustration.
"Taking out your anger on the stone floor certainly wont change a thing. I think it is time that we once again make ourselves known to the creatures of this land. I mean, I only helped make everything. I think it is only natural that one of the creators gets to rule everything. Is that not right, Discord and Tirek?" Zetta said, chuckling soft at his two commanders as he slowly trekked across the room, flat out ignoring the two Alicorns on the floor.
"Zetta what would you like us to do with these two alicorns? Certainly you would wish to rid the world of any sort of obstacles?" Discord asked, his talon like hand taking hold of Celestia's mane while Tirek did the same to Luna. Both mares could only groan in pain as both of the commanders lifted their heads from the floor.
"Leave them both. As much as it would hurt poor Faust's feelings, I feel it is better to let them live within the world for which I will rule." Zetta said, mindlessly twirling is right hand in the air next to his head as he continued his trek down the hall and towards his new kingdom.
'We were lucky that he spared us both... Had he decided otherwise Equestria, no, Equis would have been changed forever.'
