Chapter Five - A Little Background

Canterlot Castle

It has been hours since both Luna and Celestia had last seen or even heard a word from the rather tyrannical being who had shot himself directly towards the sun in the sky. Celestia was sitting upon her throne, after her sister had bid her good night, since the sun now hung over the skies of Equestria. Despite it being moved there by a foreign entity, Celestia took it upon herself to take responsibility for it and had opened her day court while going about her usual duties for the day. Hours were quickly ticking away as noble after noble had entered the court to complain about how quickly the sun had been risen to the center of the sky.

"It's far too early for day!"

"What kind of scheme are you and your sister running!"

Their words had been rather hurtful for Celestia as she allowed pony after pony to berate her for rising her sun far too early and far too quickly into the sky. Had this been a millennia ago she would have gladly had many of the nobles executed for harassing her with such hurtful words. A tear had slowly came to her eye as she apologized for the umpteenth time to another irate noble who complained about how their business had to open earlier than usual.

It seemed that despite the world having a rather slim perception on time, these ponies were capable of deducing that something was happening with the sun rising, as it had been plowed into their minds with repetition what 'time' the sun rose and what 'time' it would set.

Celestia merely released a subtle sigh as the last noble on her rather generous list of irate ponies had finally wandered out of the throne room with a rather violent twitch of their tail and the loud stamping of their hooves against the tile floor. She gave one of the guards next to her throne a gentle wave of her hoof which only caused the single guard to nod. He quickly moved across the throne room, the soft jingling of his armor ringing out as he made it to the doors. He slowly opened them before muttering something to the guards posted outside of the door. Once the order had been made, he once again closed the throne room door before quickly shuffling his way back to the throne side. Both guards merely stared ahead as Celestia slowly went to move from her throne before a rapid knocking came to the doors.

"Princess! The Elements of Harmony wish to speak!" A voice called out, the air going silent as Celestia slowly lowered herself back onto her throne and closed her eyes with a gentle nod of her head.

"You may let them in, Lieutenant." Her voice called out, the doors seemingly reacting to the call of her voice as they slowly began to slide open, allowing the light from the main entrance window to flood through the doorway. From the doorway six ponies slowly moved into the room, one of the six being pushed along in what appeared to be a wheelchair. It had appeared that Rainbow Dash had sustained so much injury from the fight that she was unable to move on her own for the time being.

"Princess we have returned with the Elements of Harmony." Twilight said, all six moving to the base of the throne before slowly bowing down to Celestia who merely nodded to them to rise from the ground.

"Thank you, Twilight. I am happy that the six of you were able to return to Ponyville and make it back to Canterlot not only in due haste but with minimal hindrance it seems. Zetta must have completely glanced over the possibility that the six of you were the bearers of the Elements of Harmony." Celestia said, her magenta gaze seemed to take in all six of the ponies before her, a rather small smile slowly spreading across her face.

"We ran into minimal hindrance on the path back to Ponyville. The train was the only real reason it took us so long to return to the castle." Twilight spoke, her eyes quickly darting to her friends as each one nodded in response to the comment that she had made about the train being the thing that took most of their time.

"That is good... You six might be the only way we can stop what could be one of the most violent moments in history after the discovery of Equestria. The being that we face has powers that are far superior to anything that you six have ever met before. His power rivals both my own and Luna's together in his current state!" Celestia said, slowly sinking into her throne as she released a rather soft sigh into the air. "Had it not been for the Elements of Harmony, we would have never ended his tyranny over two thousand years ago."

"Princess, if it might not be so rude to ask. Just who is this Zetta character anyway and why does he claim Equestria for his own?" Twilight asked, her curiosity on the rather strange Minotaur like creature had only be ignited once more at the mention of his tyrannical reign that had been in affect two thousand years ago. As far as she could remember from her encyclopedic like knowledge, there had been no mention of a Zetta in all records of the history of Equestria.

"I shall gladly tell the six of you the story behind this terrifying foe, you all will need this knowledge, if you wish to stand any chance against him. Let's start from the beginning..."

"Well, dear reader of this tale, I thought it would be best to give you a little insight into my own being before I allowed Celestia to taint your views on my royal visage." The red haired tyrant said, his eyes seemed to stare on forever as he allowed him right hand to comb through his hair. Within the deep vacuum of space, his hair seemed to flick into every which direction before he finally turned his gaze towards the sun.

"At one point in my life, I was very much like yourself." Zetta said, both of his hands taking on their respective glows of gray and gold as he seemed to weave the very fabric of the tale in his hands. "Though, that point in my life has long since faded away into my memories. Allow me to show it, rather than tell..."

Some Odd Millions of Years Ago on Planet Earth

"Dylan! Get your ass off of your video games and get dressed so we can make it to the convention on time!" Josh, one of his best friends, called out.

Today had been considered a very special day for Dylan, for this was one of the few days that he was going to grace the outside world with his presence. Dylan was the very definition of a social recluse, besides the small amount of friends that he had after Highschool, he had close to no one to really spend time with. As such, when he wasn't at work, he usually found himself just relaxing on his couch at home, playing video games. Out of all the games that he had ever played, nothing was better than Disgaea, to which he owned just about every sequel along side the first game. It was his life, it was his addiction and no it didn't make him violent in the slightest. Damn anti-video game hippies.

"Yeah, Yeah, just give me a moment!" Dylan responded in kind, his fingers mashing on his controller as he got into one of the longer boss fights for this game. He wasn't entirely sure what he was doing, just constantly repeating the same command to attack over and over again. One could say he was a skilled tactician, if being one meant just mashing on the x button when ever possible.

"Hurry up! We're gonna be late!" Bill shouted, one of Dylan's other friends who had the knack for being a pain in the ass and interrupting Dylan every chance he got. A wide grin spread across Bill's face, his right hand gripping Dylan's costume tightly before he quickly chucked it around the corner. Said costume meeting Dylan's face, which caused him to miss press a button while he screamed like a little girl at the sudden lack of light and force hitting him in the head.

YOU DIED, NERD!

"SON OF A- DAMN YOU BILL! YOU COST ME OVER THIRTY MINUTES OF A BOSS BATTLE!" Dylan said, shaking his fist in pure, unbridled anger at his friend who merely rolled his eyes at his 'special' friend.

"What ever dude, just get dressed so we can head out." Bill said, slipping back around the corner, Dylan merely grumbling in his leave as he stood up and proceeded to drop all his clothing onto the floor. Dylan slowly began to slip his costume on, the outfit matching every detail of his favorite Disgaea character, Zetta.

Every inch of fabric groaned, or that might have been Dylan as he laid his head back while he placed his costume contacts in so he lacked any sort of iris or retina. His long red hair, which he had dyed a few days prior, flowed behind him as he took a comb to each strand while spritzing them with the occasional bit of water so he could get every strand to go in every which direction. He had got a kicking deal for the Zetta Sword, the blade being plastic with a few modifications of liquid that made the inside shift in a twilight like color with bits of sparkles to simulate stars. All in all, the sword itself was the most bad ass ensemble of his outfit. Finally, he slipped on both of his golden bangles, both bought directly from Amazon which was pretty cool since he got a kicking deal for these pieces of costume jewelry from the same dealer as the sword. Though, now that he looked at them, he couldn't have helped but noticed that they seemed to glow faintly for a moment. He was about to look at little closer at them before he took a foam, dented, gold baseball bat to the side of the head.

"Bill! Can you not go five seconds without hitting me with something?!" Dylan said, obviously pissed off at his friend who merely shrugged at him while shifting around on his golden inline skates, his one free hand adjusting his red cap.

"Not sure dude, I think it's just your imagination. Anyway, let's get to the car so we can get there on time." Bill said, turning around on his inline skates, the action itself directing the baseball bat into the side of Dylan's head once more before he skated off. Dylan himself started yelling in anger as he moved out his front door, slamming and locking the door before he jumped into the small white van, which his friend Josh, had procured from his job.

"Man, these bracelets get a little itchy every once in a while." Dylan complained, his wrists rubbing against one another, his eyes looking forward as his one friend skated circles around him while his other calmly walked in front of them. "My feet hurt, it's too loud here, I wanna go home so I can finish that boss fight." Dylan complained, stopping for a moment to stamp his right foot before he was once more met with that accursed bat to the side of the head.

"Control your damn bat! It was hitting me every five seconds on the way here!" Dylan said, clenching his fists as Bill merely made a soft pfft noise with his tongue at him.

"Was not, you little baby. I had it firmly in my hands the whole time." Bill said, rolling his eyes as he once again tapped Dylan in the side of the head, this action only seemingly spurring him on as he clenched his fists tighter.

"I swear to Zetta, I will beat that damn bat out of your hand if it hits me one more time!" Dylan said, his fists white knuckling as the bangles on his wrists seemed to glow softly, his hair shifting very minutely while he 'glared' at his friend. His words only got another resounding 'thwack' which officially broke the last straw.

"You son of a-!" Dylan said, his right hand going flat as he swung out, his back hand catching his friend's cheek and proceeded to create a soft rumble, the air seemingly exploding upon contact. His friend didn't fair so well, his eyes going completely white as he was sent flying at almost 90 mph across the room, his body striking a stand before impacting a wall with a wet splat. Dylan himself, stood there, wide eyed at the carnage he just caused as various voices called out in panic. His mouth, flapping like a fish, his hands rising up in front of him, the glowing intensifying on the bangles before another loud boom rang out. This time, he found himself falling through a technicolor portal.

The look on Dylan's face, priceless. The high pitched squealing noise he was making, priceless. His normal life as he knew it, forever changed.

Some Odd Millions of Years Ago at The Beginning of the Equestrian World

A portal opened inside of the world of pure white, the world itself barely in the workings of being made by the two Alicorns who stood next to each other. The portal itself stretched, the squealing noise, which caught the attention of the Alicorns, growing louder in intensity. Before the two of them knew it, a large beast was flung from it, both of his hands curled into fists in front of his squealing mouth and his eyes closed as he began his tearful fly by over the head of the smaller Alicorn.

"Mother, what was that?" The young of the two Alicorns asked, her white coat shifting while her red mane seemed to slowly flow in the air behind her. Upon her flank, a quill within an ink well, her teal eyes watching the screaming creature soar into the distance.

The older of the two turned her eyes towards the creature, her coat a pitch black with a soft blue for a mane which mimicked the young one's by flowing softly in the non-existent air. "Ah, so he has finally arrived." The Mother said, her mane stretching, wrapping around the flying beast which stopped him instantly. His screams on the other hand, didn't stop.

The Mother quickly reeled him in, pulling him against her massive body while the other Alicorn merely looked on with a raised eyebrow at the sight.

"This being shall play an important part in the world, Faust." The Mother said, looking at the beast who had stopped screaming and was now looking towards the massive mare who held him. His eyes full of tears, his hair swaying behind him in the non-existent air, his sword glimmering softly as he was quickly set to the ground.

"T-T-Talking horses?!" Dylan screamed, his mouth wide open as he looked towards the much smaller Alicorn, her head only coming up to his groin in height while the other one took up a massive space.

"MASSIVE HORSE!" He said, pointing in fear at the larger black mare, who merely rolled her eyes at Dylan.

"We are actually ponies and how dare you talk to Mother li-" Faust spoke, trying to correct the beast before a blue tendril of hair slowly shushed her with a quick press to the lips.

"Faust is correct, we are both ponies. I am called χάος, but you may call me Mother." The larger mare said, one of her hooves slowly pressing itself to her chest as she bowed her head to Dylan who merely nodded in return.

"We wish to know your name as well." Mother said, not so much asking a question but politely demanding a name from Dylan.

"I-I am... Zetta."

Current Time Above the Sun

"Well, I would say that prints a nice little picture of my past and how I came to end up in magical pony land." Zetta said, the twirling of hands stopped which caused the faint 'mirror' which projected the past to close. His eyes turned towards the sun once more, his hands clenching at his sides before he held them out in front of himself.

"Dear reader, I feel that our time to get to know one another has come to an end, so I shall allow you to return to the story, to allow your mind to be tainted by Celestia." Zetta said, his eyes staring over his shoulder, staring at nothing in general before the soft gray and gold glow returned to his hands once more. The sun seemed to flicker softly as massive tendrils began to slowly comb and prod at it in search of his sword.

Canterlot Castle

"This is the tale of how Luna and I stumbled across the creature known as, Zetta..."

Author's Note

Just a little bit of back story for our favorite tyrant, Zetta. Hope you have been enjoying the story so far and look forward to reading the rest of it when it comes.

A little bit of a side note, the status of the story will remain on hiatus as I continue to think out how I would like this story to continue and where I would like it to eventually end.
