We hurry to my apartment where it was warm and dry. We walked inside and I put my bag on the table before grabbing two towels and hoofing one to her. She was shivering with drops of water clinging to her fur. The wind picked up outside as it began to snow. She was still scared, but she was less scared now. I felt bad for her. She looked like she had been through a lot. I covered her in the warm towel and dried my mane and tail. When I looked up, she had done the same.

"Here, follow me." I said leading her into the living room.

It was small room with a coffee table, two black chairs, and a black love-seat. I brought her to the love-seat and she sat down scrunched in a ball trying to get warm. I walked into the kitchen to see what Checker had pre-stocked in the apartment for me.

A box of crackers, potato chips, unopened salad toppings, and a box of hot chocolate mix.

"Bingo." I said grabbing the box. There was one package left.

'Guess Checker was thirsty.' I thought. I put a kettle filled with water on the stove and lit the pilot. I went back into the living room to check on her. She had calmed down now and was no longer shivering.

"Are you alright?" I asked. It wasn't normal to run into a pony crying in a big city.

"I'm fine." She sniffed. She wiped her nose with the towel. I almost yelled at her, but something was stopping me. She looked so fragile. Helpless. Alone.

I don't understand what I did next. It was like a subconscious act. I didn't even know I was doing it until I was. I had reached over and gently hugged her.I felt her shock as I hugged her, but she returned the hug calmly. I let go of her and saw a smile on her face. The storm had calmed down and the snow had stopped. My brain tried to spark together the connection between the crazy weather and her, but I shrugged it off.

"What's your name?" I asked her kindly.

"Misty. And yours?"

"Rispin." I said.

The wind died down as she calmed more. She gently yawned. She had every reason to. It was almost 9 pm. The storm may pick back up, I couldn't just let her walk through a storm.

"Hey listen, I know we just met, but you can stay the night here if you want. I wouldn't want you walking though a storm."

She looked at me curiously and smiled.

"Thank you." She said as the kettle on the stove started squealing.

I took the copper kettle off of the stove and pouring the steamy water into a mug filled with chocolate flaky powder. The water swirled around the chocolate in the cup as I stirred it with a spoon. When I deemed it drinkable, I cautiously carried the white mug over to her.

"Here, careful it's hot." I said as I hoofed her the mug. Steam rose from the milky brown liquid.

"Thank you." She said kindly before taking a small sip.

I smiled and went into the hall to grab a blanket and a pillow for her. I came back with a cyan blanket and a grey pillow. She had already finished her cup of hot chocolate.

I took the mug from her and covered her in the blanket before hoofing her the pillow.

"Thank you so much." She said with a smile.

"No problem." I said.

I turned off the light, leaving the light from the light posts and signs outside showing in the room. As I walked back to my room, I questioned myself.

'Why was I doing this? Why had I offered to let her stay the night? Why did I even bring her in.' I thought. Something had made me do it. Something I hadn't felt in a long tome towards another pony. Some small piece of me I thought I had gotten rid of many years ago. I felt it for her even though I had met her about an hour ago.

I felt caring. I felt caring about her and making her feel better. And I hated it.
