Chapter Six: The Worst Kind Of Pain

Blood. Fresh blood filled the air. Tenderfoots blade did not hit its mark, but instead had plunged into the chest of his lieutenant, Braveheart. Red, David could only see red, and his target, Tenderfoot. Withdrawing his knife he shoved the lifeless body of the blue pegasus to the side. A loud thud echoed through the great hall as David punched Tenderfoot in the middle of his chest, sending the traitor flying through the air and hitting the ground with another loud thud. Before Tenderfoot could stand, David was already on him, landing punch after punch. Tenderfoot slashed at David, only succeeding in leaving a gash over his right eye. David grabbed Tenderfoots wrist and twisted the knife from his hand. "Die you filth!" David yelled picking up the knife and going for the kill...

-onboard the liberty-

Watching as the commander left the command deck, David blinked, sergeant, he made sergeant. He looked out over the earth. The last time he would see the blue marble inhabited with humans. He stepped in his cryo tube as the ship entered slip space. With a hiss, his body was frozen. Unknown to him or anyone else on the ship, a computer error would not only bring them out next to a Covenant Corvette, but not wake anyone until they fell under attack, which is all it took for David to be sent to the vacuum of space, and luck would have it for him to drift home. As his cryo tube, two regal ponies where watching the starts "Luna, there isn't suppose to be shooting stars tonight is there?"

"No sister, there isn't" Princess Luna replied and her horn glowed catching the unknown object and making it appear in front of them. "SISTER!" Luna exclaimed "THERE IS A PONY IN THERE!"

-the thrown room-

David's hand froze in place. A golden aura encircled it. "David don't, he must face trial" Celestia said standing. David shot her a look, it was then she saw the hate fueled by his pain of loss in his eyes. She couldn't anything. Only a look of apology. "Please. You must obey our laws." David nodded and spat in Tenderfoots face. He leaned down to the beaten traitor under him.

"I hope you suffer pig" David said standing then going over to his dying lieutenant.

"I'm sorry sir, I did what I could" Braveheart said as his breathing become shallower "I'm so sleepy sir."

"You did good lieutenant, it's okay son. You can sleep." David said, holding the dying stallions hand.

With one last breath, the stallion smiled "give them hell sir, give... them... hell" and like that, Braveheart passed from this world. Luna could swear she saw a tear in his eyes.

David stood and turned to Tenderfoot who was now arrested and being held by the personal guard. Laughing. He was laughing?! "Heh heh heh. Pathetic weakling." David made a fist and in the blink of an eye, made contact with Tenderfoots gut. Now only gasp of air and coughing left the traitors lips.

Grabbing his mane he pulled upwards hard. "Who are you working for!" Without waiting for a response he punched him in the gut again. Then again, and again. "Take him to the dungeon, no food for him" Celestia cut David off.

"I will be the one who chooses punishment, not you" Celestia said sternly. However some of the guards would would swear that while David was punching the traitor, the corners of the princess's lips had the slightest turn upright.  With a smile "Captain, interrogate him, do as you wish and as for the rest, to the dungeon, no food or water".

With a nod David turned to the two guards holding Tenderfoot "take him to the interrogation room." The interrogation room, a dark room in the dungeon. There was a small lantern that was in the center hanging over a table.

As they took Tenderfoot and the other traitors from the great hall, David leaned over and picked up the knife, it was familiar, but where. He gripped the handle very tightly. He then looked at Celestia  "princess, I am sorry, for what you saw there," he looked at the knife walked up to her and held it by its blade as he handed it to her. "It wasn't my place to order punishment"

Once again Celestia cut him off, "it is okay, David. " she said taking the knife and setting it down. It was now she noticed how much taller then him she was. She smiled softly "thank you, for your loyalty." But before David could respond he was attacked, this time, by a soft, blue alicorn.

"David, we are so happy your safe!" Princess Luna said pressing her lips hard to his. David happily returned the kiss. He blushed, thinking about the first time they met.

-the laboratory-

"So, doth all humans have metal skin like thou?" Princess Luna said looking him over. This got a chuckle out of David.

"No, no human does" he took off his helmet. Cause Lyra and Luna to both blush, he looked, rough, rugged, yet, kind. Just like a pony except he had no fur, and small ears on the side of his head. "Cat got your tongue?" He teased, causing both to blush far more.

"Eh em." Lyra said breaking the tension, she looked over her clipboard "could you remove the rest of your armor please? So we could examine you?" Lyra continued.  David nodded and did as she asked of him, if he was going to be here, he might as well do as asked. Taking off his armor, he was left on only his skin tight under suit, it showed off his muscular physic nicely, both mares kept looking him over.

"If thou doth mind our asking, why do you wear armor?" Luna asked and saw the smile fade instantly. "Only if thou wished to tell us" the princess continued. David nodded then explained his species, the Covenant, and the war. Luna almost instantly understood him. "Why is thy armor black?"

David thought for a moment and smiled "you know, I'm not sure, I think it's because a lot of drops are at night and it keeps us safer during our battles." He sighed, then it hit him. "I'm the last human, with me, the species dies" he was instantly brought into a hug from Luna.

"We are sorry. We know how it feels to be alone." Luna said with a smile.

Luna had a barely visible blush on her face "do you have a moment, we wish to spend time alone with you"
