The Sentry Family

Twilight Sparkle was pacing in the library, Spike, her number one assistant and friend, was out buying quills. A royal guard was coming to Ponyville to help Twilight with a spell that can combine elementals such as fire and water. Twilight was a bit nervous, she had never spent time with the royal guard and didn't know any of them. Twilight closed her eyes and took in deep breaths to remain calm, then she went over to her bookcase to look for a book about elementals. Suddenly there was a knock at the door, Twilight anxiously opened the door to the outside, the figure of a Royal Guard emerging from it. The stallion looked very familiar too...

"Umm... hello?" The lavender princess said, smiling nervously at the guard who stood staring at her like a vulture. The guard lost his serious expression when he recognized the mare right in front of him.

"Good morning, Princess Twilight Sparkle, my name is Flash Sentry," he took a pause to assume a more serious expression, "and I'm here because Princess Celestia said you needed help with your magic."

"Okay," she said with a small smile, "and please just call me Twilight, I don't like being too formal..." she said with a blush and walked inside.

"Ummm... no problem, Twilight." Flash said, his heart easing up due to the fact of talking informally again. Twilight then smiled warmly at him, receiving one of his own. He always enjoyed her adorable little face when she smiled. Flash Sentry lifted his hoof to his chest, calming his beating heart. The orange guard took up some courage to speak, "Princess Celestia told me that you were studying elemental magic... am I right?" He asked her as he stared at the lavender alicorn with a quizzical look. The princess then nodded, allowing him to continue. "Princess... I mean, Twilight, would you like to receive my help near a waterfall? They say it's perfect to practice this kind of magic."

"Of course..." She giggled, a wave of heat passing through her cheeks. ", but firstly, we'll have to wait for Spike's return, so I can tell him to rest. He's been working hard lately."

The duo then fell into an awkward silence, waiting anxiously for the baby dragon's return.

Ten minutes later...

Spike entered the library's door, being enveloped by it's comfortable air. He happily left the newly-bought quills over the table. Spike's eyes then captured two ponies sitting on a couch. He surprised himself when he noticed that the stallion was in fact a member of the Royal Guard.

"Hello, Twilight. Um... could you use that transformation spell on me?" Spike asked Twilight, hoping she'd say yes.

"Why Spike?" Twilight asked curiously and looked him in the eyes.

Spike sighed softly, "I really want Rarity to like me," he explained to her.

Twilight giggled, "Spike, I'm sure she'll like you just the way you are," Twilight told him with honestty.

Spike sighed, "Okay...I do hope you are right Twi," then he yawned.

"Oh, Spike, go rest for the day," Twilight told him, "Flash and I are going to go to a waterfall and practice with my new spell." Spike nodded to her and left to go take a nap, Twilight and Flash got up and left quietly.
