The Sentry Family
Chapter 2: Flash Helps Twilight
Previous ChapterAs Twilight and Flash left the library they could hear Spike going up the stairs. They both shared a blank look as the wooden door behind them closed, but quickly looked forward towards Ponyville: Celestia's sun shone like a jewel in the light blue sky, the wind gently brushed the nearby tree's leaves, along with Twilight's mane. Of course, the flux of ponies walking around was as usual: Tranquil, slow, and without rush. Flash smiled at Twilight and they walked together, Flash leading Twilight in the direction of the Everfree Forest by the looks of it. There were many ponies who would watch them, occasionally they would wave to Twilight happily and Twilight would wave back. Still... Twilight had a question to ask him:
"So... Flash Sentry... have we met before?" Twilight asked, looking straight at the guard with narrowed eyes.
"I... don't quite remember, Princess Twilight." Flash quickly spurted out as he maintained his route, clearly embarrassed by the fact that he just told her a lie.
"I see... Wait, why did Celestia send one of her guards to help me out instead of simply inviting me to Canterlot?" The newest princess in Equestria intervened as soon as he finished speaking.
"Well, she is quite busy with some embassadors coming from Saddle Arabia, so, she simply decided to send me." Sentry managed to force a weak smile, turning his head to face her.
She smiled at him a little and relaxed, "Alright, so, what rank are you?" she asked the orange pegasus curiously.
"I'm a lieutenant," he said with a smile, "Shining Armour is considering a new captain and has already picked three of us to go through some tests, I'm one of them," Flash said excitedly to the smiling princess.
"That is wonderful," the lavender princess said with a happy smile, "I'm glad..."
"Thank you very much, Twilight." Sentry said with a smile, then decided to change the subject and not take much more of her time, "the waterfall is in the Everfree..." he looked to her and she nodded with a smile.
"This should be fun," the scientific princess said with glee, briefly clapping her hooves before she skipped to the Everfree, the cheerful guard laughed as he walked with her, happy that his princess was happy.
The walk through the Everfree was incredibly safe and unhazardous. Flash seemed to know an open and large trail of dirt through the forest, a trail that allowed shy bits of sunlight to penetrate through the thick barrier of leaves. The air surrounding the duo was humid, yet fresh, and the temperature was comfortable even though the Everfree Foresr proved to be either scorching or freezing on most occasions.
Twilight happily walked with Flash, curious as to where the waterfall would be. Flash looked to her and smiled as he led her through the forest, they soon arrived at a beautiful waterfall surrounded with many different types of beautiful flowers and beautiful creatures of all shapes and sizes. It was a truly magnificent sight, and it was very peaceful as well.
