I hope this letter finds you well. You will be receiving the official request for this in a day or two, but I decided I should write you before it arrives so that I may better explain what you will be allocating funds for.

I've found an earth pony scientist who is willing to research the alicorn gene and hopefully make some headway on our little pet project. We will take his findings and stop this disease dead in its tracks. Believe me, this pony is smart. I get the feeling he will save you. We just need to give him the bits to do it.
