Change of Heart

I've been flying in a slow but steady pace for the last 5 days. The sun is setting and I decide to take a break on a cloud. As I look around in the surounding I see a village that seems pretty lively. There seem to be somekind of party or holiday right now as a lot of lights and loud music is heard from the village.

As the white light from the moon appears I look out over the close by mountains and there a short flight from the village up on one side of the mountain right infront of the moon there is a town with a big tower. I've been listening in on the hivemind and goten the information about how Canterlot looks from a distance.

It's a lot more impressive then I first thought it would be. I lay down lazely on the cloud letting my hoofs fall down on different sides. The clouds here are just as they have been all the way, they look fluffy but are suprisingly dense so they feel like a hard matrass when you lie down on them. Witch is nice considering that my body is heavier now then it was as a human.

The feeling of seeing my destination so close has made me relax and through that I feel the pain in my wings from overuse. I've been flying more or less constantly these past five days. I sigh heavely as my wings don't respond as I want them to. I lay down my head on the cloud and watch the village below me.

They seem to have fun down there. Dancing, screaming laughing and running around. I'm not sure what they are celebrating but it must be a holiday considering it seems as if the whole town is there. My eyelids are getting heavier and I shortly fall alseep on the cloud.

I wake up around noon. I put a hoof in front of my eyes to protect them fron the blending sun light. I look over my hoof and notice I'm still in Icy Song's shape. I smile to myself happy that I'm getting a good hang on keeping the appearance up.

My stomach growls and I pull up my sadle bag to fetch an apple. To my dissmay all I have in my bag is the ocarina and the note book with songs in it. I sigh heavely smashing my head in to the cloud. Instead of feeling something stopping my head it goes straight in through it.

When I try to gently lay down my head it gets stoped by the cloud.
I see so the clouds are made so you can sit walk and lay on them but you can not harm yourself using a cloud. I think to myself as I look down at the town, only a few ponies are up and about, unicorns or earth ponies I guess, since I'm to far away to make the call about if they have wings horns or nothing at all. But if they where pegsi they would have flown not walked on the ground.

As I stand up and spread my wings they once again make it know to me that I should not fly today, but I need food and to go to Canterlot, meaby I can just glide down to the ground. From there I'll figure something out. I get up on my hooves and jump of the cloud, stretching my wings out to glide down to the ground slowly.

Hmm. I have no money so how can I get my hooves on some food around here? I think to myself as I look around, I'm standing in the middle of the park there is a few ponies out in the park. Some of them are looking at me.
Not suprising considering I've never been here before, ofcourse some ponys are going to be curious about the new guy. I think to myslef as I move to one of the benches and take a seat.

I sigh and put a hoof in to my sadlebags to check for an apple again. I roll my eyes at myself, Why would there suddenly be a apple in the bag if there wasn't one last night. I think to myself as I pull out the ocarina instead. I look it over before closing my eyes and start to play it, letting the tunes flow out in to the park for anyone to hear.

The song I play is a slow smothing one, and since it's so short I play it a few times over before I open my eyes and see that a couple of fillys has taken seats infront of me listening to me play. I look at them blushing softly, I didn't think anypony would sit this close to listen.

I softly smile at the fillys before I start playing a new song, putting big smiles on their faces, I look around as I play noticing a couple of mares sitting on a bench a little bit away from me looking over. I assume they are the mothers of the fillys.

They wave as I look over, I nod in response and turn my attention back to the fillys.
One of the fillys is a white coated unicorn, her mane is dual colored in purple and pink ther mane is purple on one side and pink on the other side. Her tail is more pink then purple though. And her eyes are green, she sit softly moving her head along to the music.

The other one is a earthpony her coat is light yellow and her mane and tail are red, she has a big pink bow in her hair. She is holding her gaze on my ocarina the whole time. Her orange eyes feels like they are trying to stare in to my soul.

I finnish the song, I put down the ocarina to take a small break.
“What is that instrument mister?” the earth pony ask me.
I look down at her then to my ocarina, then back to the fillys.
“It's an ocarina” I tell her hoping I don't have to explane how they work.
“It sounds beautiful” the unicorn says her voice breaking as she talks.

I hold back a shrug as I smile at the unicorn. “Thank you” I say.
Putting my hoof back in to my bag to take out the small book with songs in it.
I look it through, and smile as I find another song to play. Just as I'm going to start playing my stomach rumble loudly.

“Havn't you eaten yet mister?” the earth pony ask me.
“Oh, ehm.. No I havn't I used the last of my money a few days ago. And I arrived here lastnight so I havn't been able to eat anything yet.” I say rubbing the back of my head with a hoof, trying not to look to embaresed.

The fillys look at eatchother before they run over to the mares. I hear they talk alittle but I can't make out what they are saying. I put the ocarina and my book back in to the bag and get of the bench. I start walking from the park to see if I can find food anywhere.

“Hold on a second partner” I hear a heavely accented voice.
I stop and look behind me, to see the two fillys coming up to me having the two mares troting behind them. One of the mares is a white coated unicorn with a different purple shaded mane and tail from the filly, she hold herself with a grace I didn't think I'd see out in nowhere like this. Her blue eyes are really beautiful aswell.

The other mare is orange coated with a blonde mane and tail put up in two pony. She's wearing a cowboy hat and looks more well contry girl like in lack for a better word. Her green eyes remind me of the color everything had from insdie Chryssalis cocoon that gave me my new body and powers.

“Yes what can I do for you?” I ask trying not to sound rude or superior.
“Well ya did play mighty beautiful, and me and my kin are having a reunion tomorrow, and well I wanted to know if you might be able to play some songs for us?” The orange one ask me, the yellow filly looking up at me with wide open eyes.

I look from one of them to the other. “Well I guess I could, but are you sure you want a stranger there during a family reunion?”
“A chucks it's nah problem I'm sure, if ya want ya could come over today and say hello to ma brother Big Mac and Granny Smith.” she say with a smile.

I'm looking at the yellow filly that must have jumped 5 feet straight up in excitement, but none of the other ponies seems to even notice it. “Ma baby sis here told me ya all are new to Ponyville and don't have anyway to stay right now.” she say looking a little bit concerned.

“Well yeah that is true, I don't really have a place to stay though I really don't mind sleeping out on the clouds.” I tell them. Only to get a high gasp from the unicorn mare. “Sleeping on a cloud outside all night?! That must be soo uncomfortable for you.” I look at her. “No not really there is a lot to do outside, well sure finding food when you are broke is kind of a pain in the ahm.” I clear my throat not to finnish the sentence and cursing infront of the fillys.

“Yer broke to?” the earth pony asks.
“Yeah, I though you said your sister talked to you about it” I say lifting an eyebrow in confusion.
“Well we did talk but she neva told me ya where broke”
“I didn't think it was in my place to tell” the filly says with a sad look on her face.

I smile and pat her head abit. “No you did the right thing, it was just a miss understanding from my part.” I tell her, and she shine up like a sun again.
“Well then how about ya come and work for us at tha orchard?” the earth pony mare asks.

“Well I'm not staying all that long, or rather I don't think I will stay for that long but I guess that I could work for a while and earn some money before I continue my search” I say halfly to myself.

“Search? What are you searching for?” the two fillys ask at the same time.
“We Cutie Mark Crusaders can help you search” the unicorn say in with her loud breaking voice.

“Well I'm actually looking for strange creatures that looks like hairless apes and call themselves humans” The four ponies looks at me as if I'm crazy.
I smile akwardly and put my hoof behind my head.

“Well anyway, Sweetie Belle, we need to head on home, I have a lot of work to do.”
The unicorn mare says to the filly. “But Rarity you said we could play the whole day” Sweetie Belle complanes.
“ I know, I know darling but I have a lot of work to do and it simply can not wait” Rarity tells her. Sweetie Belle gets a sad look on her face and runs away.

“Sweetie Belle come back here!” Rarity yells as she starts to run after Sweetie.
I chuckle at Rarity's and Sweetie Belles actions. When my stomach growls again.
The two earthponies start to laugh loudly and I roll my eyes at them.
Guess I deserved that. I think to myself.
“Anyway I should proably be on my way to look for some food”

“Oh no yah don't partner, ya are coming with us ,ya hear?” The Earth ponie with cowboy hat tell me.
“That's kind of you to offer, but I don't even know who you are” I tell her. Thinking back to the human saying “Introduce yourself before asking anothers name” and since I hadn't told them my name I should not ask theirs.

“Chuck's we didn't intoduce us?” the mare ask as she put her hat over her face in embaresment. “Nah, but on the other hoof neither did I” I say trying to play it off as if it's nothing wrong. She gives of a loud sigh before the little one jumps up on her back “I'm Apple Bloom and this is ma big sis Applejack” she say with a big grin.
I nod “ I'm... I'm Icy Song” I say, Crap I almost started saying my human name I think to myself in a half panic.

They both look at me a little strange, “Something wrong?” I ask really hoping it's nothing. “Nah it's nothing really, just that you don't really sing you play an ocarina” Apple Bloom says.
I roll my eyes at them. “ Ha ha realy funny “ I say sarcasticly.
“Comon ya can't take a joke?” AJ ask.
And I only laugh in response.

“Come on this way mister” Apple Bloom says and starts walking off.
I flap my wings. Damn it they still hurt. I think to myself and sigh before I walk after Apple Bloom with AJ beside me.
“So where are ya from?” AJ asks.

I freeze in my tracks for a moment. “I'm from Manehattan” I say insecurly, hoping I pronounced it right. Damn it it's hard keeping pretending to be a pony when you know next to nothing of this world, seems like it's even harder pretending while trying not to give away that you are a changeling. I think to myself.

“Manehattan? We have kin there. Ya like it there?” AJ sak
“Yeah I guess it's as good as anyplace.” I reply
“Why are you looking for those strange creatures? Did they do something to you or your family?” Apple Bloom ask jumping around me.
I fall silent looking down in the ground.
Good question, Why do I really look for them? I made it out alright so shouldn't they have done it to? Do I just want to know how I ended up here? Or is it that I miss them? Damn it I'm not sure... I think to myself.

Not noticing that the Apple's have been trying to get contact with me before AJ push me in the side making me fall over.
“Hey what was that for?” I ask angerly
“Ya where heading towards the cliff” AJ say pointing out infront of me.
“Oh sorry I guess I spaced out.” I smile akwardly.
AJ rolls her eyes and help me up to my hooves again.

“We are almost home” Apple Bloom says jumping and pointing at a house a lil bit away.
I look over to where she is pointing, there is one big red house surounded by apple trees.
“You've got to be kidding me” I say under my breath not noticing myself.

“No we really live there.” Apple Bloom says.
And I look down at her trying to figure out if she can read my mind.
By the confused look she gives me I figure out she can't read it. I sigh in relef.
“Race you” I say and start galloping towards the apples farm.

It dosn't take long before both AJ and Apple Bloom has caught up. I'm taking a quick thought to if I should try and use my wings, but decide not to, not only do they need to rest but I also don't want to cheat at a friendly race.

Not used to running like this I quickly fall in behind them and loose the race.
“Why didn't you fly?" Apple Bloom asks.
“Would it really be fair if I did fly? I mean I would be able to go in a straight line while you had to take all the turns. It would not be a fun race.”
“Oh a true sportspony are ya?” Applejack ask.

I chuckle. “No not really, I'm not an athlete, but when I do things like this for fun it sould be on the same conditions”
I'm such a hypocrite, first changing what I am, only to gain the power to take on any form. That's really the same conditions for everyone there. I think to myself.

“Well ah sure do like a pony who can play fair” AJ says, My eyes widen in suprise.
“AJ do you have a special somepony?” Apple Bloom ask her. Probably to embares AJ infront of me.
“Wah? ya'll know tha answer to that question Apple Bloom”. AJ says in a hurry, with a blush on her.

“Aw AJ you're no fun answering that way.” Apple bloom says and walk inside.
I chuckle at the situation and take a seat on the porch pulling out my ocarina again.
“Ya really love that thing hu?” AJ says as she take a seat herself.
“Yeah it's one of the few things I can be sure of.” I say not really thinking about what I'm saying.
“What do ya mean?” she asks looking at me confused.
I keep my eyes stuck on the ocarina. “What I mean is it will always sound the same, it don't make anything unexpected happen.” I say before I start to play a new song before AJ has the chanse to ask anything more.

When I'm done playing the song, The whole apple family is there listening. I have no idéa how I can't have heard them comeout to the porch but non the less I had not noticed them.

“Ehm.. Hello” I say as I look at Granny Smith and Big Mac, it's not hard to see who's who.
“Ello Woopersnapper” Granny Smith says. I only nod in response.
Big Mac looks me over abit before he also greets me.
“food's soon ready” Apple bloom says.

I look at her and smile.
“Say sugarcube what was tha song ya just played?” AJ asks me.
I move my gaze over to her. “ I havn't given a name to it. “ I say smiling softly.
“Let's go inside and eat.” Granny Smith says, either not intressted in hearing more or she didn't hear from the start.
