"Ah, band. The only place where I can forget about all the problems I have going on in my life, and just play music." I said as I walked into the practice room at my College. I pulled out my silver and gold alto sax. I slipped the ligature over the mouth piece and adjusted my reed to fit perfectly onto the mouth piece. I slowly began to ply a few scales. I started with Bb, then Eb, then after the rest I finally did my favorite, the chromatic scale. I hit every note up till the highest note I could possible hit, then all the way back down in fluid motion. Then I decided to mess around a bit and play a little bit of jazz music, and then I began my piece that I selected for the day.

It was late, and all across campus lights turned off inside the buildings as street lights came on, and I was making my way back to campus, ready to play some Magic: The Gathering with three of my friends from high school. It was a good practice session. Even though I wasn't in band, I was still happy I could play music that I loved, and play what I wanted to. A cold chill ran down my back. "I hate winter. I absolutely love the snow, but I hate how cold it is. Thankfully spring is almost here." I mumbled to myself as I walked back to the dorms.

After a few rounds of magic, I finally went back up stairs to get ready for bed. I stripped down to my boxers and began to doze off. Thinking of how glad I was for my friends and music to help me through troublesome months. Around them, I acted happy and content with my life, even though I was depressed as hell on the inside. My father recently passed away from a massive heart attack, I remember that I talked to him the very night before he passed away. I said I'd talk to him later, and I forgot to call him back. This happened about 4 months ago. Since then my grades have gone from good to horrible, but then I had a girlfreind who supported me and helped me through most of the depression. Not to mention my friends. However, my grilfriend broke up with me on Valentines day. She left me for another man, and to make things worse, she cheated on me for a month and I didn't even know because I was at college. So, now all I had was my friends. My mother was awesome and let me do whatever I wanted to, but she was never emotionally supportive. I felt a tear fall down my cheek, quickly turning over to the wall and listening to Family Guy play on my TV as I fell asleep, I dreamed of having a different life, one where there was no stress or sadness. Just happiness and fun times. I sighed. "I wish I could have a life like that." I whispered to myself as sleep took over.

I woke up, and I felt like I was falling. I didn't pay attention, until I was underwater. I quickly opened my eyes and looked around. 'HOLY SHIT WHY AM I UNDERWATER!' I thought as I thrashed around, not being able to do anything as I slowly sank, air quickly leaving my lungs. I opened my mouth to breathe, only for it to be flooded by water. 'God I'm stupid' I thought as I began to loose consciousness, my eyes slowly closing. I saw someone reach out for me. I reached out with my hands to try and grab onto theirs, but the last bit of air finally left my lungs, and I passed out.
