A Normal Life?

Where am I?

Previous Chapter

Author's Note

Before you read this chapter, yes, the ponies are humanized. I didn't really feel comfortable writing them in their pony forms. However, I am working on another story where they are ponies. It'll be a crossover though.

Where am I?

I awoke on something soft. I began to sit up, but winced as I felt a sharp pain in my head. Felt like I had a Jacques Hammér pounding in my head, and it got on my nerves. "Damn headaches." I cursed as I stood up, almost falling on my ass because of light headedness. I decided to sit back down on what seemed to be a couch. It was definitely comfortable. I could pretty much use it as a bed. I finally got alerted to my surroundings as I heard an 'eep' come from behind me, then I looked around. I was inside a house, that was for sure, however, I've never seen a house as...unique as this one. It had bird houses handing from the ceiling, and the couch I was sitting on was facing a fireplace, a coffee table were in between the two, and on it sat a nice vase of flowers. An oval rug was below the coffee table, keeping my feet warm as I noticed I was not only shirtless, but pantsless as well.

"U-um, here's your clothes. T-they were wet so I hung them out to dry. I hope you don't mind." A soft, angel like voice came from behind me. I instantly grabbed the cover that I awoke under and quickly wrapped it around my lower portion. I didn't mind having my shirt off, in fact, I did it quite often. I turned around to see a human like figure, definitely female, except instead of skin it had fur. She was about 6 foot tall, me being only an inch or two higher than her, and she was hiding half her face behind her long pink hair. I saw her reach out to hand me my clothes. I slowly reached out and took them from her.

"Thank you." I said curiously, wondering where the hell I was. I slipped on my Five Finger Death Punch shirt, and my cargo shorts, and looked back at her after I was done. "Um, quick question." I asked curiously looking out a nearby window, noticing nothing of my college campus, or even the big city I was in.

"Y-yes?" She asked, slowly coming out from behind her mane.

"Where am I?" I asked as I saw her turn around, and noticed the wings. I then began to freak the fuck out, falling backwards over the couch, rolling off it and bashing the coffee table, and rolled into the fireplace and hit my head, knocking myself out on the bricks.

I awoke I'm guessing later on in the day as I could see the place was dark, hoping I just had a weird ass dream, but that though was quickly put down as I heard voices from my right.

"Did he really do all that?" I heard a rather raspy female voice say before she died laughing.

"RD, that's really not funny. You know he's not like the rest of us. He doesn't have fur like we do." Another female voice said.

"Aw, come one Twilight, it may just be a skin condition. You know, there are things like that...right?" Sounds like they were talking about me.

"There has never been a time where a pony was born without fur, and the only things I can think of can be genetics, which causes balding, but that doesn't affect us, only other species." Yep, definitely talking about me.

"Don't cha think it's weird though Twi? Ah mean, it only has hair atop its head and that's it. It's a tad bit weird if ya ask me." Okay, southern accent noticed.

"Why did it have to freak out like that though? I mean unicorns and pegasi have always been around since the beginning, it's nothing out of the normal." I decided to just say fuck it. I've been known to be very weird, which is something coming from my friends, that and I've always adapted to awkward situations like this one. Oh well, here goes.

I sat up, noticing my headache was gone. Wondering why I didn't have one I studied my surroundings, noticing I was at the same place I had woken up from before. "Dammit, why me. I swear to god I have the worst luck." I muttered as I remembered how exactly I ended up in this predicament. Me freaking out and knocking my self out on the fireplace. "Smooth move there Ben." I heard something coming from behind me. I looked to see a girl about my height, but instead of the one from before this one had wings and...a horn? Weird. I heard them talking about pegasi and unicorns, but those are only myths..right?

"Hello, I am Twilight Sparkle, and these are my friends Rainbow Dash, Applejack, Fluttershy, Rarity, and Pinkie Pie." I noticed as five other women walked in behind her. The one she introduced as Rainbow Dash was a little shorter than the rest, but that was because she looked more agile, and slimmer than the others. Definitely the athletic type. The only word that really describes her hair is rainbow. Not all the colors, just most of them, and she had blue fur and wore a blue shirt and athletic shorts.

Applejack looked like your run of the mill cowgirl. Long blonde hair put into a low hanging ponytail and had brown fur, and she wore a stetson on her head, and had blue jeans and a brown shirt, and they were both caked in dirt. However, unlike Raindow Dash who had wings, she had neither a horn or wings. Instead she looked like she was fairly built. Not enough to make her look unattractive in their terms, but enough to where you don't want to fuck with her.

Fluttershy was the one I saw earlier. She was wearing a plain yellow shirt, and a skirt that went a little past her knees. She was obviously shy, hence the word being in her name. However, she was obviously the most adorable one out of them all.

Rarity was, what looked like to me, that classical high class snob. However, she didn't seem stuck up. From what I could tell she was your average drama queen that overreacted to everything, which I found funny. She wore a low cut white shirt with a frilly undershirt that covered up what would normally show. With pants that had interesting swirls and patterns on then that seemed to be made of diamonds. One thing noticed first though was her heavy makeup. She seemed like the kind of woman that put a lot on to make herself think she looked good, but instead she's the kind that looked a lot better without too much makeup on. Not to mention her long purple hair that curled at the end was nice.

Pinkie Pie. She was, well lets put it this way, she was a kid that had ADHD, was on sugar pills, and had at least 6 red bulls and 5 monsters. She wore a pink shirt and blue jeans, and was jumping around constantly, her pink poofy hair bouncing everywhere, talking about parties and candy, and many other things. I decided to ignore her and introduce myself.

"Hello everyone, I'm Ben Taylor, and it's nice to meet you all, but where am I?" I said as I shook everyone's hand. Pinkies hand shake shaking me until I was almost sick to my stomach.

A few hours into the night, I finally figured out where I was. Which shocked me quite a bit. I wasn't even on Earth anymore. I was in a land called Equestria where these humanized ponies were the inhabitants, and even some species like cows and the like were intelligent, which meant no meat to my dissatisfaction. However, I would deal with that when it became a problem. I could see that everyone was tired, and it was late, even though I didn't have any way to tell time.

"Could it be possible?" I checked my pockets, and thank god my iPod was okay. I looked at it, and it was at 50%. "YES!" I shouted as I jumped up in excitement, scaring everyone except for Pinkie, who just laughed.

"What was that for?" Twilight looked at me with a curious expression. I smiled and showed them all my iPod.

"I finally have my one thing that can make me forget all of my troubles besides my saxophone." I stated as I put one of the ear pieces in and listened to a certain song. It was one I grew to love very quickly as it was the kind of music I loved.

"What do you mean?" Everyone looked at me confused.

"It's an iPod, a device used to play music and games on." I said, showing them my library. They all looked in amazement.

"What kind of music do you have?" Rainbow Dash asked.

"A lot. Ranging from Metal, to rap, to classical. Basically anything except country, excluding Johnny Cash." I said as I looked for a different song. Finally finding another song that I used for my alarm on my phone for the longest time.

"Is it okay if we listen?" Twilight asked while she looked at the iPod in her hands. I nodded.

"Sure. We all can. Just let me unplug my headphones and it will play through the built in speaker." I unplugged the headphones from my ipod and found another song which was much more suitable. It was Drops Of Jupiter by Train, and it was one song that brought sadness to me, but I didn't show it. The girls just waved back and forth with the music. Even Rainbow Dash was tapping her foot.

After listening to a few more songs, they all decided they needed to get back home.

"Um, where exactly am I staying?" I said before they all walked out the door. "I don't want to be a bother to anyone."

"Oh, you can stay with me...if you want to." Fluttershy said. "It won't be a problem,

"Are you sure?" I said as I walked over to her? "I can sleep outside. Its a nice enough night." I let out a chuckle as Fluttershy began to nudge me up the stairs.

"No. It's fine. I promise. Now go upstairs and get some rest. I'm sure it's been a long day." I walked up the stairs and Fluttershy showed me to a medium sized room, which had a bed barely big enough for me. It had blue sheets with pink flowers on them. I laughed.

"Well, not exactly the most manly of all sheets, but good enough." I looked back to Fluttershy who giggled a little. "Thanks for everything Fluttershy. If not for you, I probably would have died back there."

"O-oh, it was nothing really. I was just helping somepony in need." I looked back at her smile. A sadness fell over me. Realized it looked so much like hers. Bringing feelings I thought would never return. I sighed.

"Still. Thanks again Fluttershy. But, I'm tired. Goodnight. See you in the morning." I started walking towards the bed, hoping she didn't hear the obvious sadness in my voice. I turned to look back at her. It looked like she wanted to say something, but I guess she decided not to.

"Goodnight." She said as she closed the door.

'Its uncanny how much that caring smile was just like hers.' I just decided to not think about anything and just sleep. Which didn't come easily that night.
