Breakawayby Rainbow-PastelChaptersMarch pt1March pt2April pt1April pt 2March pt1Shadow Song and I sat in the middle of my bedroom floor. My dad was in the living room reading clop magazines and my brother was at a hockey game with my grandpa out of town. None of our families knew Shadow Song and I were in a relationship. We had been romantically together for a few months at the time. Yes I love a mare. I'm not embarrassed to express my passion towards her to someponies. I was afraid to tell adults because I was worried they were going to tell my family and my grandma was going to tell Shadow's parents forcing us to break up. Nopony had ever found me attractive while all my friends had gone through three coltfriends. Shadow Song and I had been best friends since when we were fillies and she confessed her love to me back in September. She's the only pony I've ever loved and she's the only pony who has ever loved me. Like me, she has her disabilities. We hate social situations and we're both very sensitive....well except her sensitivity is worse. She gets angry and completely ignores everypony, especially me. Now she's mad at me because I was going to Ponyville to study friendship. I don't get it. She goes everywhere around the whole god-damn world and I don't bitch and whine. I finally had a rare opportunity to go somewhere more than six hours away and she ignores me. "How long are you going to stay in Ponyville for?" Shadow quietly asked. "Two months", I mumbled as I looked down in shame. She curled up on my floor with her back towards me. I did the same at the close distance. After a while without acknowledging my existence, she got up and went to the living room to start packing. I hunched down at the doorway as if I was a lion stalking it's prey. Right as the grew pegasus left, I snuck out of my room to find my dad reading his clop magazines not taking notice to the departure. "Shadow Song is mad at me because I'm going to Ponyville." I said flatly expecting him to listen to me. "Buck her", The husky pony did not look up from his magazine, "She's such a crybaby." I hate it when he talks bad about her. It hurt but I couldn't help but agree. Although I was excited to go to Ponyville, It wasn't my choice to go. Bringing up my social disabilities again, it's hard for me to make new friends. I'm fine around my group of friends and in certain classes, I'm scared of talking to strangers. The 'normal" ponies think I'm weird. The bitches look at me like I look like shit, some ponies ignore me, and everypony else talks to me like I'm retarded. I was never able to fit in. As a filly I was in special needs class up until I was eight. They promoted me to regular education and put me in a class full of strange ponies who all knew each other since kindergarten. Everypony thought I was weird and ignored me. They left me out in group activities, left me all by myself on the playground and in the cafeteria. When I was ten I got publicly humiliated when somepony wrote a cruel story about me in the class book. I got shunned by everypony after. This all happened until I was thirteen when I decided to be in special education again. Because of this and the loneliness at home, I had more than twenty therapists in my lifetime and been in three social groups. Not much help at all. I'm still very depressed. My grandma wrote to Princess Celestia to take me in for the last two months of school to learn about friendship. It's very difficult to be accepted into the program. Most students are unicorns destine to learn magic with a very high IQ. Not like my IQ was low or anything. I took a test different than others and passed. I got accepted because I'm "special". Thus I was Princess Twilight's very first student. I was for sure not going to miss my family at all. I just felt I was no way related to them. I even look nothing like them! Well my dad's side anyway. I never knew my mom's side but I knew we all look exactly alike. Blue coat and blonde mane. I'm also distinct compared to them as well. I have natural streaks of red, blue, and green. Not sure why but it's awesome. Only my dad's side raised me and I hate them. My grandpa is okay even though he sometimes uses me as a verbal punching bag. My dad is fat, disgusting, and jobless. My grandma is a bitch who gets her kicks by yelling at me and my brother is more "special" then me. My family treats him better than me because of that. Also because he has a pair of balls and the first born. He's almost a full grown stallion and has birthday parties fit for a foal. As a mature pony I am, I have an "adult dinner" at my favorite restaurant for my birthday. Everypony goes to his birthdays and graduations and shower him with big gifts and many congrats! Less than ten ponies had gone to my parties and I only get a congrats and a pat on the back. I tried to tell my family the favoritism hurt, but they don't care. My dad denied it and my grandparents yelled at me. Now about Shadow Song, I had mixed feelings. I didn't know whether to miss her or not. I love her but she's bossy, selfish, and moody. She wanted to be with me every second. That's why she didn't want me to go to Ponyville. I like being with her a lot but I like my solitude as well. I never had time to pursue my talent in art, run errands, do my homework, and even bathe. Ponyville is an opportunity to breakaway from my normal life and all the stressors. March pt2My family and I arrived at the train station. Unlike the small ones around Equestria, San Franciscolt's train station was huge! It was 2 stories high and huge windows. It even had a food court. I only rode on a train once when I was younger. My family doesn't like to travel. I had to head to Ponyville on my own in a twenty-three hour train ride so they didn't care. It was the first time they had let me go anywhere far by myself. My dad dropped the luggage he carried on his back and he tried to hug me. "Don't touch me!" I raised my voice as I pushed him away. The steam engine pulled and the conductor yelled "All aboard!" My grandma put my bag on my back and hugged me. I hugged my grandpa and stepped into the train cabin. An attendant brought my stuff aboard the train and the engine started to pull away. I watched my family as they waved their goodbyes. I waved back and sat on my bed. I got myself situated and unpacked some stuff I needed for the night. I quickly glanced around the six-bedded room and got a glimpse of pink. I got up to investigate the pink fluffy ball. I had no idea what it was. I lay a hoof on the softest fur I had ever felt. Everything happened so quick! A head popped out of the furball and we both screamed. We stopped screaming and stared at each other. "Um...hello..." I greeted shyly since I have a fear of talking to new ponies. The fluffy pony stuck her her tongue out and gave me a raspberry. "Uhh...I think we had a bad start. Maybe we can start over?" She blew another raspberry and left her tongue hanging out. It was just...awkward. I sat back down on my bed and pulled my sketch book out. I awoke to the engine blowing. It seems we had just arrived. The pink furball watched me pack my stuff and followed me as we exited the train. The fresh Ponyville air smelled so good! Like...apple pie or something! I pulled out a map from the pile of luggage on my back to see where I was going. I sometimes wish I was a unicorn. I think I would function better and be more advanced in art if I had a magical horn. Oh well. I try to put that thought away into the "get-over-it file" in my brain. I was so caught up in my thoughts I forgot about the furry pony trailing behind me blowing buzzing raspberries. It wasn't long before we got to the library. I thought we were at the wrong place....because it was a tree. My local library back home was more of a modern looking building so I expected to live in something all too familiar. I reluctantly knocked and the door creaked open. "SURPRISE!!!!" I stepped back and gasped as all the heavy luggage fell off my back with a thud. Something as nice as a surprise party happened to be my worst nightmare come true. Strange ponies from a town I hadn't even been in for a half an hour throwing me a welcome party. They didn't even know me! However I remained calm and collected as another pink pony approached me. She wasn't as fluffy as the furball who ran passed me to join the celebration. "Hi I'm Pinkie Pie and I threw you this party!" she said with her hoof out. I looked at it as if it were a foreign object and quickly shook it. Her body was the color of bubble gum and her hair looked like cotton candy. Before I could say hi she started babbling. "Oooh you seemed very surprised! Were ya? Were ya?" The pink party pony asked. "Um...er...yes! Very!" I managed to get out clearing my throat. "Twilight told me you were coming so I was all like [gasp]! Then I'm all like 'ooh we should throw her a welcome party!' and she's like 'I don't think that would be a good idea.' But if you don't get a welcome party, you won't feel welcomed and you won't get to know everypony here and I'll feel guilty for not throwing you a party! I'll stop throwing parties because I'll be too depressed and Equestria will fall apart because there is no parties and the world will go KABLOOM!!!! And that's how the world will end!" Pinkie said all in one breath. "Wow. That's nice of you. Pinkie." I coughed up nervously. "I'll just get some time to know everypony here." "Yay! See ya!" Pinkie waved as I walked away. I headed for some blueberry muffins at the snack table and a blueish grey pegasus with a blonde mane cut in front of me. She ate the entire plate of muffins in one bite and looked back at me with derped eyes. "Excuse me.'" she spat out with her mouth full and walked away leaving me staring at an empty plate. Um... that's okay. Blueberries aren't my absolute favorite anyway. I felt like crying. I thought Ponyville was supposed to take me away from my troubles, not cause more of it. It seems wherever I go I'll never fit in. I'm just my own individual self who just sits in the corner and sulks. "What in Equestria's name is going on here?!" Everypony hushed into silence and the music stopped. "Pinkie! I thought I told you not to throw a surprise party!" The purple pony said as she entered the library followed by a purple and green dragon. Princess Twilight Sparkle could not be mistaken by the unicorn and pegasi features and the streaks of pink and violet in her mane and tail. "But Twilight! If I don't throw Rainbow Pastel a welcome party, she won't feel welcomed and she won't get to know everypony and-" "I know you want to do what you think is best and you want to make her feel happy and loved," Twilight looked at me then back at Pinkie and whispered, "but there are just some ponies you can't throw surprise parties for." "Okay. I'm sorry, Twilight. I guess I'll just move my party to Sugarcube Corner." Pinkie turned to the party. "Alright everypony! Take the decorations, take the music, take the food and cider! Take it all back to my place and party some more!" Everypony cheered and started packing everything. I almost felt bad a first but relieved that the party of strangers were leaving. After a while Pinkie and her party left and we were all alone. "I'm sorry about all of this, Rainbow. I know how much you don't like strangers." Twilight apologized. "It's fine. Really." I bowed down before the princess. "It's an honor to have you as my mentor." "It's a pleasure having you as my student. Why don't you make yourself comfortable and help Spike clean up while I get you a place to sleep. We have a big day tomorrow!" April pt1April pt 2 It hurts... I stared at the letters of poems as tears fell down my face soaking my fur. They were all written by Shadow Song saying how much she hates me and how I don't care about her. PUNCH!!! She doesn't care about you. Why do you go out with some sick mental pony anyway? A hard hoof to the face. I only wrote about how much fun I'm having in Ponyville. She's triggering my bully again. A mare appeared in front of me. Blue coat, long blonde hair with pastel colored streaks. Her face was glamored up with globs of make up. I'm all alone in the library. Just me and her. You're such a pushover! You're a useless loser! You remember what she said last year? You won't ever get a boyfriend! She doesn't love you! You see how she's writing about you?! Just for an innocent letter!! I HATE YOU!!! EVERYPONY HATES YOU!!! SLAP!!! She grabbed me by the mane and pushed my head hard onto the wall. "STOP!!!! I had enough bullying already by Shadow Song!! I don't need any from you!!!" Maybe if you thought to not be so selfish, she wouldn't hate you just like everypony else!!! "I'm not selfish!! She is!! I wish she would be happy for me for once!! Like I am when she goes to Haywaii this summer!!!!!" PUNCH!!! You should just break up with her before she breaks up with you first you fat, ugly whore!!!! She charged at me. I prepared myself for the worst. Before I knew it she absorbed herself into me right when she hit. I got up beyond my control and walked over to the cutting knife sitting on top of boxes of new books that had arrived in the mail earlier. I pulled myself away as my hoof reached over to the knife. I resisted with all my might and fell over when I regained control. I opened my eyes to a familiar face hovering over me again. Her. I must say you're pretty resistant for somepony who beats herself up all the time!! "What the hay do you mean?!! YOU'RE the one who's bullying me and beating me up all the time!" You're such a dumbass! Haven't you noticed that I'M YOU?!! I scrambled myself up onto my wobbly legs and ran as she chased me. I tried to open the front door. It was locked. I galloped around the library screaming. I looked back to see she was gaining on me. I found a closet and disappeared into it. I pushed my back against the closed door as she tried to buck it open. I heard the front door open and the kicking stopped. "Rainbow? Are you okay?" Twilight call out for me. I opened the closet revealing my bloodied and bruised face. "Rainbow! What happened?! Who did this to you?!" she exclaimed in shock. "It happened...she did it.." I said as I fell into tears. April pt 2April pt1 Twilight and I arrived at Sweet Apple Acres. I'm not one for apples. I like apple pie and apple juice but I don't like apples as a fruit. I tried apple cider before but I couldn't taste it because my tongue felt like pins and needles. An orange pony came over to us. He blonde mane as covered by her hat and her flank was adorned with three apples. "Why howdy Twilight! Ah see you've got yourself a little friend here!" "Hi Applejack! I'm sure you remember Rainbow Pastel from the party the other day." Twilight introduced me cheerfully. "Oh hi'yall Rainbow!" Applejack greeted. "Oh um hi!" I said with a hoof out to shake and my mane in my face. She shook my hoof with mighty strength. "Have ya tried buckin' apples before?" Applejack asked. "Um...I don't think so but I'm willing to try something new." I said. "Okay I've got to go run some errands." Twilight said, "You two have fun now!" She left us both alone and Applejack led me to the orchards. She set some baskets unter a couple of trees and bucked one of them with her hind legs. Every apple fell off the tree and landed perfectly into the basket. She gestured me to the other tree. I used all the strength I had and hit the tree hard. Most of the apples fell. "Woowee, Rainbow! I must say fer somepony with no experience with bucking apples, yer pretty good!" "Wow! Really?" I asked. "I'm pretty weak for a pony my size. I quit martial arts after a month and I buck furniture when I get angry." "Well practice makes perfect! Whenever ya feel like it, ya can come down here and help me around the farm. The more ponies to help the faster we get more apples. Applebuckin' season's comin' up anyway!" Applejack said.
