Rainbow Pastel is a shy sixteen-year-old earth pony who lives in San Franciscolt. Even though she has her share of friends and a special somepony, her social disabilities prevent her from meeting new ponies. She leaves her family and friends to study friendship in Ponyville for two months as Princess Twilight Sparkle's very first student. She gets a chance to take a long break from all of her current friendship problems and family issues, but she now ends up in a town full of strangers and new challenges to endure.
