Chapter 2: Some Doubts

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

A week had passed, everything was going according to plan. Ponyville, as well as every other city in Equestria, was doing just fine. The Canterlot Castle was fully repaired, and everything looked as it was before the incident. Twilight went to check up on Cadence.

"Hello, Cadence. I was just wondering-"

"NO!" Cadence shouted, running around the room. Everything was in disarray, with many piles of paper and documents on and around the floor.

"Um... Cadence-"

"Don't you understand? If I don't check on the Equestrian Police Department, I can't check on the Equestrian Stock Market. If I don't check on the Equestrian Stock Market, I can't check on the Equestrian Economy. If I can't check on the Equestrian Economy, I can't check on the Equestrian Newspaper. If I don't check on Equestrian Newspaper, I can't check on the Equestrian Federal Reserve. And if I don't check on the Equestrian Federal Reserve, I CAN'T CHECK ON THE EQUESTRIAN POlLICE DEPARTMENT!!!!!"

"Cadence, I can help you." Twilight replied. "First, we need to get rid of this mess."

"Okay." Cadence agreed.

It didn't take long for Twilight and Cadence to fix up the place. There was plenty of time left.

"Oh. Also, Shining Armor sent me a letter saying everything is going fine in the Crystal Empire," Cadence said. "It's good to know that he's alright"

Now that Cadence mentioned it, things don't seem so fine.

"Still, Cadence. I just don't think that Equestria can survive without Celestia and Luna. Life, just, isn't the same..." Twilight worried.

"I understand, Twilight. At first, I didn't think that I could run all of Equestria, let alone, by myself," Cadence empathized. "I'm sure things will go fine."

"Even then... w-what if something bad happened? What if.. what if-"

"We can't worry, now. I have some important things to do."

"Bye, Cadence," Twilight left.

Twilight walked through Canterlot, sad, depressed, head down in disappointment.

"Sigh..." Twilight looked at her reflection in the water in a fountain. "Things just... can't be the same... they'll never be the same. What with Celestia and Luna gone. The whole kingdom grieving over their death," Twilight stared at the Two Sisters' graves, sitting there, motionless. "They've been alive for so many years, they just couldn't have just... died like this..." Twilight ran off back to Ponyville, crying all the way there, as well as in the library, for the rest of the day, and to sleep.

Twilight was still crying in the morning, still worrying about the same things.

"IT'S HOPELESS!!! (sob) EQUESTRIA IS DOOMED!!!"

"Uh, Twilight? Are you okay" Spike entered the room.

"DO I LOOK FINE?? DOES THIS KINGDOM LOOK FINE TO YOU??"

"Seriously, Twilight. You need to go outside." Spike dragged Twilight out of the library. "Look the sun is out."

Twilight looked at the sky. It was a bright, sunny day.

"I suppose I could go on a walk."

They walked down the path where the Running of the Leaves was held.

"So, why are you so worried?" Spike asked.

"I just got this bad feeling about Equestria," Twilight answered. "Something must be wrong."

"Really? 'Cause everything is doing fine. The only thing different is that Celestia and Luna aren't here."

"That's the point. With Celestia and Luna gone, Equestria just can't be the same."

"Well, everything went fine with Cadence now ruling Equestria."

"Yeah, but... Celestia has been my teacher for so long. Now... what do I do?"

"Hey... look!" Spike shouted as he saw a riot breaking out in Ponyville.

Spike and Twilight ran and galloped as fast as they could towards Ponyville.

"Bring back Celestia and Luna!!!" one protested.

"Cadence can't rule Equestria!!!" another shouted.

"Please. Please. Everypony! Calm down!" Mayor Mare announced.

"But, this world can't turn without the Two Royal Sisters!!!" one stallion replied.

"Yeah!" another said. The riot spread throughout Ponyville. Mayor Mare got the idea to gallop away, as others nearby did.

"RUN!!!" Twilight shouted. Spike followed her.

The two could've gone in any direction, they only had to go far away.

"So, what's the plan?" Spike asked.

"Well, we've got to find the nearest city, first," Twilight answered.

"Then?"

"Then is not important. All we need to worry about is now."

"But... the closest city is 20 miles away."

"We don't need to find a city, now, exactly. We just need to get far away from the riots."

"Got it."
