Sunstar snarled at the other cats, and Dashfang looked at her sternly. Sunstar growled a little more, but then sighed. “Fine,” she growled, and Flamefur grinned.

“We’ll escort you back to the hill,” she mewed, and she led them back towards camp.

Sunstar was about to retort back, but she just snarled, and walked behind her. Flamefur finally got them to the hill, and she smiled when she saw them walking down, tripping on rocks. Dashfang looked back, and saw the BreezeClan cats walking back. Sunstar’s eyes were dark and sad. “LunarClan is angry with us,” she meowed, and she sighed looking into the sky. The sun was about to set, and Dashfang remembered that the Gathering was tonight.

Sunstar walked into her den, but before she did, Spitfire ran up to her, and cocked her head. “What are you doing back so early?” she asked, and Sunstar dipped her head to the medicine cat.

“We were interrupted by some BreezeClan cats, and we were not able to make it to Moonstone,” she meowed, and Spitfire’s ears dropped.

She growled, and she looked at her clan. “Our leader was not able to travel to Moonstone because of BreezeClan cats!” she yowled, and the clan stared up at her in anger and confusion.

Pinkiefur spoke up. “That’s ridiculous!” she growled, and the others joined in.

Dashfang saw a little blue cat coming into the camp. It was Skypaw. Had she decided to hunt alone again? She ran towards her, and she noticed that she had not grabbed a piece of her own prey. She sniffed and smelled an awful stench of kitty-pet. She ran into the den, and she saw Skypaw lying lazily on the moss. She was on her side, and she snored as if she had been eating like a fat, lazy kitty-pet. She thought that Skypaw would be able to shape up her attitude before the Gathering. Her eyes narrowed, and she prowled over to her apprentice. “Skypaw!” she yowled and her apprentice jumped. “I’ve made up my mind, you are not going to the Gathering tonight.” She did not wait for a response. She ran out of the den, and she looked around.

All of the warriors in this camp were loyal to LightningClan, and they always followed the warrior code. Would Skypaw ever become a true warrior? She was interrupted in the middle of her thoughts when she saw Sunstar about to jump up to Castle Rock. She ran after her leader and she nodded. “Sunstar,” she meowed. Sunstar pricked her ears, and listened. “I thought that we should have so many warriors in the camp.” She looked deep into Sunstar’s eyes, and she saw fear and anger flare inside of them.

Then they softened when she nodded. She climbed up the rock, and she addressed the clan. “Tonight is the Gathering,” she yowled clearly, after all the cats had gathered under the rock. “Spitfire, Browniefur, Lightningstorm, Bluepelt, Fleetingwind, and Twistfur are coming. Sentrywing you are in charge of camp.”

Dashfang saw Daringtail, Soarwing, and Boltstripe’s eyes darken when they did not hear their names. She frowned, and she looked up at her leader. She knows what she is doing, right? She shook her head. Of course she is! Dashfang quickly set up patrols for dawn and sun-high, and she ran to Sunstar and the rest of the group. She stood next to Lightningstorm, and she smiled at him.

They finally reach Fourtrees, and Sunstar stopped for a little while. Dashfang felt a whisker over her ear and she heard Lightningstorm speak. “I don’t think Sunstar is acting like her old self,” he meowed. Dashfang nodded, and she sighed.

They finally came down, and the cats from LakeClan treated them kindly. Dashfang turned to see that see that ShadeClan seemed weak. Were they sick?

She spoke to some elders, and she smiled when she heard that LakeClan was doing well. She then heard the four leaders call them in unison. Dashfang hopped up to the rock next to the Great Rock. Lunastar spoke a little bit, and so did Ravenfur from ShadeClan. Finally Sunstar spoke.

She looked down at all the clans and she took a breath. She puffed out her chest, and she was silent for a couple of tail-twitches.

“Well, sister, are you going to speak?” growled Lunastar. She hadn't taken Bloodface’s fostering. Her eyes were cold, and Sunstar nodded briefly.

She sighed again, and she finally opened her mouth. “Our new deputy is Dashfang,” she meowed, and Dashfang smiled.

She did not want to be very boastful, but she still puffed out her chest, and let her eyes shine. Then she heard cats murmuring. Twinklelight stepped up, and she growled. “What happened to Setclaw?” she asked angrily.

Sunstar did not even look at the cat but she went on. “And Bloodface is dead!” she yowled clearly.

The clans gasped, and they asked how they died. “Where is Setclaw, Sunstar?” Lunastar repeated Twinklelight’s words.

Sunstar did not answer, and one cat finally spoke up. “How did Bloodface die?” asked a cat from ShadeClan.

Sunstar did not answer, and she shot a glance at the warrior that spoke out. Ravenfur growled. “Do not look at my clan like that!” she growled.

“Your clan?” the voice belonged to Lightningstorm.

Ravenfur didn't reply. The LightningClan cats started to argue with the ShadeClan cats, and the BreezeClan cats cut in. Then a yowled came from Bluestar. “Enough!” he growled. “Look at the moon! It is covered by clouds!” The cats looked up, and they stepped back. The leaders jumped off the Great Rock, and they led their cats back to their clans.
