In Equestria there are four types of cats. Pegasus cats, unicorn cats, earth cats, and alicorn cats. They all live with ponies, dogs, and other wild animals.

Dashfang's enemy, Setclaw, and her friend, Boltstripe, are finally out of LightningClan and in the forest; but Dashfang can't get Setclaw off her mind. She is worried that her enemy is just waiting for the right time to strike.

However, that's not the only thing the new deputy has to face. The blazing hot summers, a terrible omen haunting LightningClan, a terrible apprentice with a terrible secret, and a leader who is only a shell of her former self.
