A new day. Supposedly a perfectly normal day. Twilight had a hangover, a pony who was a grade A student, very sensible and responsible and very mature, you wouldn't expect somepony like her to have a hangover, but last night wasn't a normal night for anypony. Everypony last night, even the foals, were dancing and partying  like there was no tomorrow. Little did they know, that there wasn't. Last night was the eclipse. When the moon becomes aligned with the sun. The moon moves into place in front of the sun, blocking it's light for a few hours before it moved again. The eclipse only happened every one thousand years, so it was a big deal for everypony in Equestria. Everypony that day felt so lucky, so blessed to be alive that they didn't care if they died the next day because they had seen such a beautiful sight in the sky. Twilight and her friends were the sensible ones, they went home to go to sleep a bit earlier than everypony else, just to get some shuteye for the next day. It seemed that they were the only ones in Ponyville who remembered that the next day was a week day, a work day. Being absolutely shattered on a week day when you have to go to work is one of the worst feelings ever, always dragging yourself through out the day and then miserable for the rest of the week. But it seems that going to sleep early for the next day was pointless, since there wasn't a next day, but only destruction.

Twilight woke up two hours late. Spike normally woke her up to make sure she wasn't late for anything and he never failed once to do so, but there is always a first for everything. She thought he had a hangover to, she looked down to his small bed below her own, expecting to see a cute, sleepy dragon snoring away, it was empty.

Did he stay out all night? Is he passed out outside in the middle of the town? If he is, I will be furious with him, how irresponsible can he get? Twilight thought to herself.

She got up, brushed her teeth and brushed her mane like every other normal day. Not knowing of the new world that she wasn't going to be glad to greet when she meets it. She trotted happily downstairs to the front door.

I wonder what he got himself into this time... Twilight thought to her self, chuckling.

Twilight opened the door, smiling, hoping to see a new bright and sunny day, like yesterday, with everypony smiling and jumping with joy. But what she saw when she opened the door was something that looked like something terrifying from her nightmares. Burnt ground with some blades of grass still on fire, slowly going out. Houses destroyed, a dark and misty sky and bodies of the ponies, citizens of Ponyville that she used to know, all lying on the ground, motionless.

Ok, this is just a bad dream... I had a lot to drink last night, so it would make sense that I was so hammered that my mind is still a little bit messed up and is creating a nightmare. Oh please Celestia, please reassure me this is in fact a dream. Well I don't want to be here anymore, so please, Twilight, wake up! Wake up and get me away from this destroyed civilisation. Twilight thought to herself, begged herself. Almost crying, trying to wake herself up because she couldn't bare what was in front of her eyes. She tried everything to wake herself up. First nipping herself, the obvious thing to do, but it didn't work. She tried punching herself, something harder, and yet that didn't work. She tried everything, but the more she tried, the more harm she was doing to her self, soon there was blood on the floor from her body, she was that desperate to get out of this place that seemed like a nightmare. Twilight thought of another thing to try and wake herself up. She got a stool and a rope, she tied the rope into a knot and put it, hanging on the ceiling, she then put the rope around her neck. Ok, I've had nightmares where I was about to die before, I've read about nightmares and if you're about to die in one, you wake up in shock so you don't die. So I should wake up if I try to hang myself. Ok, I'm going to jump in three... two,,, one...

"Stop! Stop right there, Twilight!" a white pony said from a distance. "We don't need another dead."

Twilight looked over and waited for the figure to become recognisable. It was a unicorn with white fur and a well styled purple mane. "Rarity!" Twilight shouted, jumping for joy, smiling and laughing, probably the only pony feeling happy. "I'm so glad to see you!" Twilight was still smiling, looking at rarity, who after knowing her Alicorn friend wasn't dead, wasn't smiling at all.

"Why are you happy?" Rarity asked.

"Because, one of my friends are here, with me now!" Twilight said happily.

"Look around you, Sparkle! Does this look like a happy environment?" Rarity snapped.

Twilight's smile soon vanished from her face. What happened to her? Rarity isn't normally this rude and aggressive. What ever happened here must have changed ponies personalities! Twilight though to her self. She looked around the surrounding streets of what used to be Ponyville. "No..."

"No! That's right. Do you know what happened after the eclipse lest night?!" Rarity asked anxiously.

"Um... No..." Twilight replied, nervously.

"No! Neither do we..." Rarity said as she looked down. "You were our only hope, Twilight. Our only hope of finding out what happened.

"Sorry, did you say, we?" Twilight asked.

"Yeah, we. We and our friends survived whatever happened last night, probably because we went home earlier and had some shelter from this apocalypse. They're at base, a cave hidden in the everfree forest. You are coming with me to the base with the rest of us. You shouldn't be out in this waste land alone." Rarity demanded.

Twilight and Rarity started moving, on their way to a so called "Base." Twilight noticed something, Rarity wasn't heartbroken that her home had been destroyed. She wanted to ask her. "Um, Rarity? Our home's have been destroyed, along with our friends and families, and I haven't seen one tear out of you eyes. Why is that?"

"When I first saw outside, a few tears fell out of me, then I found our friends, they too were also shearing tears with each other. Then I came to realise, we all came to realise that, what happened here, has happened everywhere, everypony is dead and we're the last survivors. Whoever has been effected needs to know that, everypony else has been effected. It's happened to everypony who survived, so what makes one survivor so special. We learned to take it and move along as nothing is going to change the fact that everypony is dead." Rarity explained.

Quite a dark thing for Rarity to say... Twilight though to herself.

Twilight and Rarity finally made it to the small cave that she called a base. It was in the edge of a mountain and plants were growing all over it, like they possessed it now. Twilight and Rarity entered. Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie and Applejack were sitting in the corners of the dark cave.

"Twilight! Thank Celestia you made it!" Pinkie screamed with relief.

They were the same as Rarity, no tears, just depression on their faced but huge amounts of tears in their hearts, Twilight could tell. She looked in the middle of the room to see a purple and green dragon, motionless on the floor. Twilight recognised the body with only one tear falling to the ground. It was like she was having the same feelings as the others. To move along but depression moves with you. Twilight sat down and looked at him. Rainbow Dash spoke to Twilight.

"Twilight, you just need to move along but never forget it. You are living in a new world and it is going to be hard to survive. This new world is filled with evil and disharmony, the complete opposite of Equestria." Rainbow Dash said calmly.

Twilight looked back at Spike's body and accepted the he and everypony else was gone, and there was nothing else that anypony could do.
