Welcome to Canterlot

Load Full StoryNext Chapter

I wonder what I should do here. I’ve always wanted to come to Canterlot, and it seems like a nice place. I think I’ll make friends here, I don’t look very different than the rest of the residents…

Mom always told me of the Grand Galloping Gala, it’s always something to look forward to. Apparently, it’s so posh that even the princess can’t handle all of the poshieness. If that’s a word, than I’ll be famous. I do this sort of thing.

Not everyone appreciates my existence. I really don’t know why, I’m not ugly or anything. I’ve come here to start fresh and hopefully find a home and settle down here with some friends.

I step out of the train, the station here is completely empty. The only things here are abandoned bags.

“Hello? Can someone help me? I’m new, and I need a tour guide!”

“Sorry, what’s your name?”

A young colt wearing a guard suit asked me.

“Oh, I’m Lilac. I’m new here, do you know the way here? I could use some help.”

“What’s your last name?”

“Why would you want to know that?”

“We have to extra careful around here, miss.”

“Why would you want to know me?”

“We never know, miss.”

“Okay? Are there any hotels or apartments here that are-”

“What’s your last name?”

“Oh. My name is Lilac Honeydrop Mary Cazing.”

“Miss Lilac, you are expected in the grand hall.”

“I am?”

“Well, the princess has called you on the list.”

I stand back in shock, and look at him with concerning eyes. He keeps his serious stare. I remember Fluttershy, my old friend. She had a stare to control her friends, the creatures of the Evergreen forest. I don’t have a stare, to control animals.

“I hardly even know the princess. Is she a friend of Princess Cadence?”

“Are you from the Crystal Empire?”

“Yes! I’m new here, and I need a place to stay!”

My forehead was sweating, and got my mane all wet. My horn ached so much with all of the luggage I was carrying.

“Ah, Miss Cazing, I-”

“Please. Call me Ms. Lilac Honeydrop Mary Cazing.” I looked deep in his eye.

He stood thunderstuck looking at my luggage.

“A-a-I’ll ta-t-take your luggage with me…”

“That’s better!”

He took me up the steps of a side castle and gestured me to the most magnificent hall.

“Third door to your l-l-eft.”

“Thank you. Your name?”

“I’ll get g-g-going now, h-heh heh…”

He dashed and galloped away down stairs. I looked  out the window as he jumped into a bush. I think I’ll call that, sabushing. NEW WORD!

“Thanks for the help! Um…”

I unpacked my bags. I threw all of my clothes out and saw a picture of my sister, Andrea. Tears fell down my face and on to the cracked picture.

She died in an earthquake, while we were in a train to Ponyville, as a stop. The train fell of a cliff while everyone else jumped out before. Her leg was trapped, I tried to save her, but a pony pulled me out of the train car as the train fell down. I heard her scream. Then, the train exploded. I’ll never forget that pony. And I will never forgive that pony.

But, forgive and forget. I dusted of the picture and placed it by the bedside.

I run up to my bed and jump not forgetting to place a pillow under me. I hear a knock on my door.

“Hello? Who is it?” I yell out in a whiney way.

“Um, this is my room.” a muffled (quimufreserved) voice calls out behind the door.

“Hello, a guard just sent me in here, and plus, there is nothing in here.”

“Um, no. This is my room, there’s a Daring Do book on the bed.”

“Oh, you must have left it in here.”

“No!”

“Let me open the door for you, so YOU can retrieve it.”

The voice sounded so similar to a voice I heard before, but, I decided to open the door anyways. I turn the golden handle.

“What, is, wrong, with, this, DOOR!”

“I have the keys, Miss Smarty Pants...”

“B-but”

“Therefore this is my room.”

The figure walked in the door. I could only see two eyes gleaming at me. I’m gonna call that… walkinthedoorwithgleamingeyes look. I grab the coat and yank it off. But there’s another coat underneath!

She only spends a few minutes, then leaves. I am completely silent as the figure moves out. I quickly reach into her pocket and yank her second cloak off, but she makes it out the door. She slams the door, and throws the keys at me. I lose all sense of reflexes, and the keys come hurling straight for me.

They hit me so hard, I fall to the ground, yelling in pain. I am very sensitive. I cry in pain for the smallest things.

I look outside the window and the mysterious figure is nowhere to be found.

I take a glance at the small mini photo frame that I took from her. I unwrap the frame and see a picture of six ponies, all hugging each other. I look and see Fluttershy in the corner of the frame. Since the photo fell on the marble porch, the frame is slightly cracked. I wrap up the photo, and place the frame next to my bedside.

Yawn! It’s Saturday morning, and looked outside the window. There’s a fair going on here, and I step on the grass in front of the porch and a lilac pops out.

“What?”

That cloaked figure has got me thinking about Canterlot. Is this a thief rigged playground of matufaopie people? Mom never told me anything like that. Well, mom isn’t always right.

I received an invitation to a Garden party. What if its a trap! I can’t trust anyone, or anything.

Looking outside the door, I spot a young filly trotting along the side of the road. There’s nothing so suspicious about that? Right? I walk on to the street and quietly follow the filly. I take a small glance at her bag and I see a metal object in here bag. She takes it out, and it looks like a knife. I gasped horror as she smiled and place the knife carefully in her bag.

I quickly ran to my room and sighed while planting my face in a laced pillow. This place really is strange! Maybe I should move out of Canterlot, maybe I can move to Manehattan, no, Fillydephia? Ugh, Appleloosa? No way!

I looked down the map and spot a small village with the label “Ponyville”.

“Ponyville? I think I’ve heard of that town.”

I better pack up my things before things get scary here. I kicked the door with my legs and the door came crashing down.

“Oospy. That’s what you get for taking care of a creepy capital.”

I quickly gallop out the door and run to the train station. I fastymundo open my mailbox and grab the first mail in my hand:

Dear Ms. Lilac Honeydrop Mary Cazing,

You have been requested to research the

Evergreen forest. All expenses have been

payed, and you shall stay in a hut that has met

all of your preferences.

Wait, I’ll be staying in a hut? What research? I don’t know anything about plants! I mean, nothing that I know has to do with reseach!

I packed my things and set off on the train. I walked to the side of the station and I spot a squad of guards blocking a brick outhouse behind the bench. I walk up to one of the officers and ask him the directions.

“Excuse me, officer. Do you know the way to the Evergreen Forest?”

“Sorry, miss. May I ask why you dare enter the forest?”

“Here, I received a mail from the palace requesting me to go and research the plant there.”

“Ah, you need to take a train to Ponyville, and the residents there will help you further. If you need any help, send a letter back to Canterlot an we will send help.”

“Thank you, sir. And your name?”

“My name is Jade Apricot. And yours?”

“Lilac. I don’t need to tell you the rest, it’s quite long.”

“The train boards in 12 minutes. Until then, you can get something at the Pony Café.”

I skadoodled on to the Pony Café as I looked over my shoulder at the brick house. Sometimes, the guards that guard these places aren’t so bad. Stereotyping suggests that guards are serious and won’t talk unless you are royalty.

I stood at the door of the cafe and walked in. The door chimed and the pony inside slapped on a cheerful smile and walked quickly towards me. She was sweating as she was talking, and she was talking so fast that I didn’t hear a single word she said. I got a seat next to the window as ponies around me giggled and yakked their way around their food.

“Excuse me, what would you like?”

“Oh, um, I’m just waiting for my train.”

I constantly looked at the clock as my heart beat faster and faster. I wanted to get to Ponyville as fast as possible. 9:30, the clock blinked so slowly, I felt like time had slowed down and stopped, just to make me feel annoyed and nervous. 9:35, 9:37, 9:39, I started packing up my stuff and sleepily walked out the door. The train hadn’t came yet, so I sat down and wrote in this journal.

Finally, the train arrived in a gust of steam and smoke. My curly mane blew in the summer breeze as I walked in a cabin and sat down on the closest bench. Using my magic, I placed my bags on the luggage rack. I lay down on the bench, only to find that the bench was wooden, except in one spot. I hit my head on the wood, but soon after, while closing my eyes, I found the pillow and went to sleep.

I awoke to the sound a laughing fillies and foals. I stepped out of my cabin and saw the sign, “Welcome to Ponyville!”
