Journal of Lilac Honeydrop Mary Cazing
Vases Cases
Previous ChapterI slowly walk towards the sign and rub the crust out of my eyes. The station is filled with ponies of all shapes and sizes. I step off the train lifting my luggage in the air and trudging along, trying not to attract attention. I stop in my tracks as I spot the colorful town with a mysterious forest in the background. That’s probably not the Evergreen Forest. I then turn to my left and spot a field of Apple trees. There! Research done. That’s probably the Evergreen forest.
I whip out my note pad and my quill and jot down:
Evergreen Forest Plants
Appletrees
Grass
I remember it saying something about me staying in a hut. I don’t think I see a hut, I see a barn, though.
I trotted down the road and plastered a smile on my face, preparing to greet the wild ponies that live there, in the forest!
I meet the sign on the gateway to this new place. I slip in the mud just outside the fence. Looking up, I saw a sign that read “Sweet Apple Acres”. I thought it would say “Evergreen Forest”. Oh well, the ponies that live in the “farm” must call it that.
I walk in and spot a young filly with a pink bow on the back of her mane. I waved to her and smiled.
“Yoo hoo! I’m supposed to stay here for um, research on the Evergreen forest!”
“Who are you? Are you from Canterlot?”
“Um, no sweetie, do you know where I can stay?”
She bounced around and around me, making me dizzy.
“My name’s Applebloom! Ya haven’t come around here? Where do you come from? Are you from Manehatten? Can I call you posh?”
“What? My name is Lilac Honeydrop Mary Cazing, and I need a place to stay!”
“Okay!”
She galloped up to the barn and called out in the barn house.
“Sis! There’s a newpony here and she’s supposed to stay here and she’s really nice and she is really posh but she’s not from Manehattan or Canterlot so can she stay here, please please please???”
“Wait a sec, Applebloom.” her sister sounded just like her, just older.
A young pony stepped out from behind the barn. She had a blond mane with a brown cowboy hat on the back of her head. Her eyes were emerald green and she smiled with content, as if she meant it. I knew I was gonna have a great time with her!
“Hi there! My name’s Applejack. Sorry about my sister Applebloom. I think she ate too much Apple pie. I hear you’re stayin’ here for a research project assigned from Canterlot.”
“What? How did you know?”
“Oh, the whole Ponyville knows.” she smiled slyly.
“Well, this is the Evergreen forest, no?”
“What? Who the hay told ya that?”
“Oh, uh…”
“This is Sweet Apple Acres. But you can still stay here if you want. The Evergreen forest is that one.” the sweet pony pointed to the mysterious forest I rejected later.
“It’s okay. You can stay here, right Applejack?”
“Oh, I have to properly introduce myself, am I right?”
“Um.”
“My name is…” I took a big breath as Applejack shrank her nose at me.
“...Lilac Honeydrop Mary Cazing.”
“Yes. Missy, you need to get cleaned up. Let me show you your um, room.”
She took me upstairs and asked me to stand outside the room door as she slammed the door. She came out with a pile of things.
“This is your room...sorry if it’s a little messy.”
I walked in and my eyes widened as I gazed around the room. It was so beautiful! Better than the room in Canterlot, at least!
She took the pile downstairs, then walked out the door and into the barn. I was getting hungry for lunch, and the air smelled like apples. The rug on the floor was decorated with the most beautiful tapestry ever. I dare not touch it.
Applebloom kicked my door open as she placed a vase of apple blossoms next to my door. Then she jumped out my window and landed in the grass.
I went downstairs to have some lunch with Applejack. Then she took me outside the barn house and we walked towards the center of town.
When we arrived there, the streets were teeming with laughing ponies and stallions. The little ones were running around flying kites and playing jumprope. This was such a happy town! I think I’ll stay here instead of Canterlot.
I’ve never seen such a happy town, with all types of ponies living together in harmony. I’m gonna head to the library because I can research. If I don’t find something to research, I think I’ll move here. I open the wooden door.
“Hello? Who’s the care taker here?”
“Oh, I am. Can I show you around, or…”
I eagerly prance around the room feeling very dorky. The pony there smiles and whispers something to herself. Then she walked up to me and tapped me saying:
“You know, you don’t look like a bookworm.”
“Do I have to…”
“No, silly! My name is Twilight Sparkle. I’m like the only bookworm around here. Are you new in town?”
“Yes, I am. I came here to research the Evergreen forest. But I don’t really want to go in there. Can I just stay here?”
“I know a friend named Fluttershy that lives quite near the forest. She can let you stay there when you come to the point when you need to go there in person.”
“Fluttershy? Here?”
“Do you know her?”
“Yes! I do, I met her when my family visited Ponyville. I don’t remember much about this place, but I remember her.”
“I had no idea! Here. You can look at this book, it has all kinds of information about plants in the Evergreen forest.”
“Thanks!” I smiled and sat down hugging the book, then looking up at her and smiling all posh-like.
She smiled back at me and cheerfully said:
“If you need me, I’ll be here.”
I pick up the book eagerly and flipped open to a random page.
The Evergreen forest fills with all kinds of wildlife. Manticores, strange snakes, dragons, and other species. There are plants that cause you to have strange things happening to you. You might shrink, grow, lose your voice, grow extensive hair, etc.
Slowly closing the book, I get up and walk towards Twilight.
“I think I should be going now.”
“Hope you had a good time, I didn’t get your name, may I?”
“Oh. You might need to write it down. Well, here it goes.” taking a deep breath, I rapidly speak….
“Lilac Honeydrop Mary Cazing Enchita Iris Rosedove”
“Um…”
“Just call me Lilac Honeydrop Mary Cazing.”
“Or…”
“Lilac.”
“Okay, Lilac, you must be on your way, it was nice meeting you!”
I really need to upgrade my wardrobe. I look at the map and walk towards the most beautiful castle-room. I slowly walk towards it, smiling big and fluffing my curls.
“Hello!”
“Oh, dear, you are in need of a new dress! Here, what color? Ah, you would look dashing in silver, your curls are so perfect! I love your highlights, did you do that by yourself.”
“I-”
“I think magenta would suit you, your eyelashes, how long did you take to curl them so perfectly? Oh! You’re a unicorn!”
“EXCUSE ME!”
“Oh, sorry, I do get carried away with my chatter. May I help you?”
“I need to update my wardrobe, it’s empty of your, um, dresses.”
“Ah, tell me your pre-”
“Make it full of flowers, gold silk, rainbow cloth, and cotton undercoat. Make it engraved! You probably can’t looking at these excuses for dresses! I’d like to buy some for cleaning my sink! That works! You know what? I think you’re too poor to even have those materials! Well too bad! I ain’t given you any money! I need some simple skirts, tops, and make it quick!” I stubbornly stomped out the door as she looked at me, almost in tears.
I don’t know why I was so harsh with her. She seemed really nice to me. I think I was just a little jealous of her awesome mane. Her dresses looked so nice! I would buy all of them if I could. I walked back in smiling and said sweetly:
“I’ll take the lot. I’m sorry I was so mean. Hi, I’m Lilac, and I’m moving here. I see you have a sense for fashion, I love fashion! I’m also a bit of a book worm.”
“That’s okay! Have you met someone called Twilight?”
“I’ve met two people. Twilight, and Applejack.”
“Really? They are my very best friends!”
“What’s your name?”
“Rarity. I make dresses for folks around here.”
“Well, Rarity. It was nice meeting you.”
“Bye!”
I walked out the door with a heap of dresses. I trudged on down the lane. I saw a old stallion with a cane putting up a sign on a building saying “For rent”.
“Excuse me? Is this place for rent?”
“What?! Is this maze torrent? No sweetie, that’s down the road!”
“No! Is this place really for rent?”
“No, sweetie, my mother is not cheesy, she’s in a better place…”
“Sorry, CAN I USE THIS BUILDING?”
“Speak up, honey…”
I irritably look at him and breath so heavily that I think steam came out of my nose! I stared at him and told him one more time. Strangely, he immediately responded and ran off in the distance. I opened the door as the bells on the top chimed. The place was empty, with nothing except for a business card on the top shelf in the corner of the room. The display window was cleaned and shiny. I looked to the right of the window and there were some parts of a flower stand with some dryed out leaves and petals near it. There were three of these piles.
Suddenly, I came to an idea of which I dreamed since I was just a filly. I grabbed the hammer next to it and started building.
Three hours later, I had finished making all of the stands. I began wiping and dusting everything and preparing my shop. I picked up the business card and started reading it…
Glassworthe Shinette John Saturn
Glass blower and vase maker
3049 Weather Street, Ponyville, EQ
This person lived right opposite to this store. I could use these vases, that he makes. I head out the door with my purse and gallop out the door.
“Hello?”
“Hi, I’m-”
“Glassworthe, right?
“Wha- how did you know my name?”
“Your card.”
“Oh”
“I just moved in the building opposite to yours.”
“Oh”
“We should meet more often!” I looked at him, his flowing mane, his feathery wings. I could get used to this.
“U-uh, m-may I help you?”
“I’d like to look at some glass vases.”
“Oh...ok…”
“Are you okay?”
“N-yes! I’m fine!”
“Okay, so do you have tinted glass?”
“Uh, yes!”
“Ok, can I-”
“Here are all the glass vases, here are tinted ones, and here are non tinted ones!” he quickly said, then smiled nervously and ran behind the curtain and sighed.
“Thanks?”
I looked at one vase. It was blown to a perfect sphere and tinted pink and blue with a flower pattern. I loved it so much! Making something like this would have taken a whole week!
I go up to the counter and a short snobby pony walks up, adjusts her glasses and shrinks her nose and squints at me.
“Sorry mister, but I can’t help you.”
“Um… I never asked for…”
“Sorry, my mother-in-law sometimes is a little cranky. Mom? I’ll handle this.” a beautiful pony with mascara said.
“Oh! I’m so sorry, who’s your husband?”
“Honey? Can you help her? She doesn’t know who you are…”
The stallion who I talked to walked out with a nervous smile on his face.
“Uh, hi...um…”
