2. Rain

Previous Chapter

The world is cruel to those that are innocent.

It stomps on the weak.

It laughs at the needy.

And in the end if there is only but one single tiny ray of sunlight and happiness, the world will snatch it away without showing any empathy towards those it has left damaged and wounded...

That is why. I...  I don't know what am I to do with myself anymore. Craftng dree* just  isn't the same anymore.*

Friends have changed.

Life has changed.

Times have changed.

I, myself, have changed...

And now I'm just standing here... alone and forgotten...

Few stand bravely beside me, but no matter how much they try comforting me, it's unfair to them, and selfish of me.

What's the point of staying here at the boutique.

I can't make any new dresses at all.

My stay here is worthless.

Rarity stared outside from her lonesome bedroom window. Her home seemed as if it was just eaten by a cold, midnight darkness. It was quite the depressing site to the murderous mare; she was done with sitting silently in her boutique. It was dark, cold, and lonely.  And if she didn't do something about all this sooner who knows who she might hurt next...

What if Sweetie Belle were to come home and... and... and-

Rarity shut her eyes, and rapidly shook her head. A thin strand of her mane fell flat on top of her eyes, but she didn't bother to move it away. The unicorn just sat staring at her reflection in the glass window. Once again, the pony in the mirror looked different than what she was accustomed to, it looked dark...

She knew she had to get away from the boutique for a while. For it was ruined. The floors were covered in dust, trash, and broken glass. Her bed was torn to shreds, because of Opalescence, and her sewing machine broke down when she threw it at the door.

She tried to shake these horrid memories from her head and grabbed the thickest coat she owned. Which happened to be a dark, crimson color, with black buttons that lined up evenly, and a thick false bear fur around the collar. And with that she exited her familiar, beloved home. She left behind her cat's dry remains on what was once called her bed . Beside the corpse she left a  note beside it saying "Whoever is to find me, please do take care of me." And a demented, red smily face carved into the back of the note.

It didn't make much sense to the mare, but despite the fact she had slaughtered her cat she felt that a small part of Opal stuck with her. Throughout the passed week she had a real warm and fuzzy feeling in her chest, which was probably where her heart was located. She felt like this meant that Opalescence was in a much better place now... She was away from Rarity, and now the mare couldn't hurt her beloved pet any more...

I sprinted as fast as my hooves would go. I raced across the muddy, dirt road. My mane soaking wet due to the heavy pouring rain; my hooves were stained in thick, moist dirt, but this didn't disturb me one bit... It kinda made me think of Sweetie Belle... somehow...

From the distance I saw a shadow form in the far end of the dirt road. This shadow was small, almost like a filly, and it's outline shared a close resemblance to Sweetie Belle...

SWEETIE BELLE!!!

I gasped and ran the opposite direction. It turned out to be my dear sister after all. Ahead of me I saw Rainbow Dash with Scootaloo, and Sweetie Belle beside her. The three were slowly approaching my location!

What to do... What to do...

"Kill them..." A dark, unrecognizable voice purred into my right ear. "That way, you can get this over with much quicker..."

No! I couldn't! Sweetie Belle is my dear sister! Rainbow Dash is one of my closest friends, and Scootaloo is Sweetie Belle's friend... I thought as tears welled in the corners of my eyes. I won't allow myself to hurt anyone as I once did before... !

"Hey! Rarity! What are you doing out in the rain by yourself?"

This voice sent chills down my spinal cord. I immediately recognized the scratchy, rough, tomboyish voice and knew this voice couldn't belong to anyone other than Rainbow Dash. Which meant she must have seen me.

"Ahh! Rainbow Dash, darling!" I said nervously as I waved a hoof towards her. I wore the biggest smile I could, and tried my best to come up with a convincible lie in my head; since it was clear she was questioning the fact that I was in the pouring rain, at night,  by myself.

"Rainbow Dash! Over here darling!" I signaled to my fast, flying Pegasus friend.

Rainbow Dash immediately flew in my direction, fighting against the thick wind, and rain.

She flew a few inches above the ground, and I saw that her chest was perfectly exposed. I could just perfectly take my horn and....

"Rarity-"  She managed to say before I roughly jammed  my horn straight into her bare, wet chest.

Rainbow Dash happy expression faded and was replaced with one of terror. My friend stared into my eyes with utter shock.  Her face pale with fright.

She coughed, and looked at me with that what?! look. She tried to speak, but blood came gurgling from her mouth, preventing her from saying a word. So, with that she did what she could do and used her remaining strength to attempt to pull herself out from my horn's reach. But in response, I stuck my horn deeper and watched her gruesome reaction.

She let out a blood curling shriek, and spat blood in my direction, but the rain washed it right off.  Her beautiful cyan wings began to flap violently, her pupils were small, and her chest has a hole about the size of a bit.

Then ends of my mouth slowly formed into a smile. I smirked, and looked at her, watching her struggle and squirm defenselessly.

"Ha... Ha... Ha Ha...." I began, but slowly stopped when I spotted something from the corner of my eye...

From behind Rainbow Dash stood two figures. That looked young, like about the size of a ten-year old fillies.

It was Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo...

Rarity stared at Rainbow Dash who had blood gashing through her deepened wound. She then turned her attention towards the two fillies that backed away, terror written on their faces. Scootaloo dropped to her hooves, crying her eyes out. Sweetie Belle, all she could do was give her sister a disappointed look. The two fillies' pupils' became wide, their faces pale with fear..

Rainbow Dash looked up at me once more. Her limbs gave in, and she was on her knees looking into my eyes with her usual, winning smile. Her teeth were stained in blood, but her smile was still the same... But all I could do is look back at her with a worried expression...

Thinking....

"What have I done..."
