Chapters As she starts heading home, her tears slowly roll down her cheek, and she begins to sob softly, knowing no one will notice anyway. She slowly drags her hoofs along the dirt, "why does no one even care about me? I wonder if I left, if anyone would notice, providing they know I'm even here in the first place." She whispered to herself.
As she finally reached her cottage and went inside, she went straight for her bed and just crawled into a ball. She began sobbing heavily, all of the animals in her house came up to her and tried to comfort her. But she felt more distraught that usual. This wasn't the first time she felt so distraught either. It was slowly getting worse, and she knew it, the animals knew it; she wished someone else knew, but she felt like no one would care, making her more upset. The animals all tried hugging her and making her feel better, but nothing was changing, she had put her wings over her face to cover her "shameful, worthless self" from her only friends. Her bed was slowly getting soaked in tears, she started to get a bad headache from biting her teeth together so hard to prevent any loud sobbing to make the animals any more upset
Back at the celebration of Rainbow Dashes accomplishments the others were all having a great time, then Applejack raised the question: "Hey y'all, where's Fluttershy?"
"I think she went home" Rainbow Dash responded
"Awwwww, it would have been awesome to have here~." Pinkie whined
"I wonder why she didn't come." Said Twilight
"Well, perhaps she was a bit tired and needed a rest, let's leave her be for the time being, we can check up on her later." Rarity suggested.
"Yea! I mean, if she didn't want to come, that sucks and all, but let's not veer from my AWESOME achievement today." Dash said with a giant grin accross her face.
"Yeah Dashie and Rarity are right, we can always ask Fluttershy later when we see her again."
Pinkie pie continued bobbing back to the town and tell the others about why Fluttershy couldn't be at the party, "She said she was tired is all."
"Oh poor sugar cube, she mustn't be getting much sleep then."
"Well... What do you expect... She lives in a cottage filled with animals, I'm imagining the stench at night would be enough to keep a little filly from going to sleep."
"Dash! Try and be a bit more tactful with your comments, what if she was around and she heard you say that!" Snapped Twilight
"Sorry! Sorry. I was just stating my ama~sing~ opinion is all."
"Ergh, you seriously need to learn humility Dash." Stated Rarity
Fluttershy was still in her cottage on the couch near the door, weeping bitterly, crying into the cushions to try and quieten down the sounds of her crying; she also sent the animals outside as to not make them upset. "Oh I'm just such a terrible, terrible friend." She managed to sob. "They really did want me at that party, and I left because I wasn't getting noticed for Dashes achievements. I'm just, so... So horrible."
The more she cried, the more upset she got and the more worthless she felt.
Then it happened. She got so upset; that she began to harm herself. She gritted her teeth, and then brang her foreleg up, and began biting underneath her left foreleg, tearing off skin, wincing and crying still.
All she could think: "I'm such a horrible friend, how could I do that." The tears streamed down her face the more she thought about it, she was crying out of emotional and physical pain now. Then she stopped, and checked her window making sure no one was coming up. Then she saw Dash start coming to her fence. Hoping Dash didn't see her, she flew up the stairs into her bed, now noticing the blood spilling from behind her leg, but she didn't have time to clean it up. She thought she'd just stay in her bed and hope that Dash would just go.
*knock knock knock*
Fluttershy was startled, but she didn't move.
*knock knock knock* "Fluttershy are you in there?" Rainbow dash asked in a loud tone, Fluttershy refrained from answering. "Fluttershy~." She remained quiet "Well, I'm coming in."
"NO!" Fluttershy shrieked in panic, not knowing how Rainbow Dash would react to the blood and tear soaked couch.
"Huh? Why not?" Rainbow dash asked confused
"Um, you just can't." Fluttershy responded "um, could you just leave me alone for now Rainbow Dash... I don't want anyone around me right.. Now." She winced as she said 'right now'
"Uhhhh why not Fluttershy?" Dash said in a cheeky tone as she started opening the door. Fluttershy heard the creaking of the door, and she had never flown so fast in her life.
"NO!!!" She flew down and slammed the door in Rainbow Dashes face.
"Ow!! What the hell Fluttershy?!"
"Oh... Um... Sorry Dash... But you really can't come in here right now." Rainbow dash then headed for the window and looked inside. -- the couch was so soaked, it was visible, there was a blood trail leading from the stairs to the door from when Fluttershy flew to the door to stop Dash from opening the door, and then she looked at Fluttershy, who was in tears and she saw her open her mouth, "Please go Dash." Tears streamed down her face, and then Dash saw the cause of the blood, Fluttershy's wound behind her foreleg. This was the final straw; "I'll go for now Fluttershy." She said reluctantly, but also trying to hide the fact that she knew everything do she could get the others.
Fluttershy felt relieved, like she dodged a bullet, of emotional pain. She stayed blocking the door for the rest of the time, observing her wound bleed heavily. She winced, and then burst into tears. Biting her teeth down hard to avoid any loud sobs.
After about what felt like 1000 hours of being in pain (in reality 10 minutes) she heard the one thing she was dreading.
*knock knock knock*
"Fluttershy... We know you're there, open up." Said Twilight in a solemn tone.
"Oh... Um... You really, really can't come inside."
"Come on sugar, please open up, we want to talk to you."
Fluttershy dreaded it so much, but she stood up and opened the door for them, then sheepishly walked back. The others were horrified with what they saw. Fluttershy's face was completely covered in tears, the foreleg she bit was now completely dry with blood, with a little bit more oozing. The floor from where she was walking was covered in blood. They were all shocked. Fluttershy looked at them and then sheepishly asked. "I'm guessing you guys don't want to be my friends anymore?.. Because I'm such a bad and selfish friend..."
"What are you on about?!" Pinkie pie exclaimed as she jumped towards Fluttershy to give her a huge hug.
"Come here darling." Rarity said trying not to cry. Twilight and Dash had burst into tears at this point, and had joined in squeezing Fluttershy. Even Applejack was fighting back tears at this point, she hugged Fluttershy tightly.
"Why would you think we wouldn't want to be your friend Fluttershy... You're awesome... Just in your own way!"
"But... I'm really selfish... Like when you guys threw Rainbow Dash her party, I left because no one could hear me say congratulations to Dash, instead everyone spoke over me; then when pinkie came over I felt even worse." All of them were in tears at this point all hugging Fluttershy tightly.
"You don't need to get worked up over such a little thing Fluttershy, we all know that you're quiet, except we didn't take that into consideration, and instead spoke over the
top over you; we are all sorry." Said Twilight
"That's ok... I should really speak up more anyway..." Said Fluttershy. "And I know this is going to sound stupid... But I thought no one liked me... So I didn't open up about my feelings, leading you guys to find out the hard way... I'm really sorry... Again..."
"Aww come here Fluttershy, you're our best friend, no way anything as small as that could ever tear us apart, and besides, like I already said, you're awesome." Rainbow Dash said sniffling and trying to sound as cool as possible.
"Indeed, Rainbow Dash makes a great point; our friend group would not be the same without you dear."
"Come on now sugar cube." Said Applejack as she squeezed Fluttershy tightly
"C-Can't breathe..." Wheezed Fluttershy.
"Hehehehe. Yeah, Applejack, goodness! Not too tight now! Or you'll strangle all of us!" Said Pinkie in her usually high spirited self. "You feel better now right Fluttershy, or do I need to throw a... PARTY~." The whole group laughed including Fluttershy.
"Well... I... Um... Wouldn't want to trouble you, and I don't really need to have a party, like... What would the topic of the party be?"
"What do you mean if it wouldn't trouble me? Throwing parties never troubles me, because they're always fun!! And for the topic of the party.. Hm... I guess; Fluttershy is happy again party~!" Replied Pinkie Pie.
"That sounds great Pinkie. But I also think that Fluttershy has learnt a lesson here in friendship, and she could right that in our journal, if she wants to." Said Twilight
"I would do so gladly." Fluttershy responded
"Okay, I'm going to go get the party planned!" Said Pinkie as she raced out of the door
"I'll help aswell!" Said Rainbow Dash following close behind.
"I think we'll stay here with Fluttershy," Twilight said to the others with her, "unless you guys want to go?"
"I think I'll have to be decorating, after all neither of those guys know what good decorating is." Rarity said; the others giggling.
"What about you Applejack; are you going to stay?"
"Ofcourse I'm going to stay, I'm not going to leave Fluttershy until I feel I've hugged her enough."
After about an hour, Pinkie raced through front door, "The party is ready~!!"
"Yea come on Fluttershy, it's awesome!"
"Oh... Um... Ok... But what if other people see me..?" Fluttershy said nervously, hoping other ponies didn't know.
"It's ok, they don't even know we've thrown a party, because. Dun d-d-d-dun dun, dun d-d-d-dun dun, du-du-du-dun dun dun~, we threw the party here!" Burst Pinkie
"Oh... Oh wow, really?" Said Fluttershy, relieved
"Of course deary, it's quite obvious that you don't want everyone to know, and we will always respect what you have to say." Rarity responded
"Thank you guys so much!" Fluttershy said, fighting back tears; but tears of joy
-party ensues-
"Go Rainbow Dash!!" Yelled Twilight as Rainbow Dash was trying to break a record for clearing the sky from storm clouds both effectively and quickly. "You go sugar cube!"
"Keep it up Dashie!!!!"
"I must say, you are doing very well!"
"yay."
As Rainbow Dash cleared the final cloud pinkie pie jumped up, "45 seconds Dashie!!"
"Woohooooooo! You did it!" All of them collectively yelled.
"Yeah, I didn't have any doubt." Said Rainbow Dash gleefully, filled with pride.
"That was---"
"THAT WAS AWESOME!!!!" Yelled pinkie over the top of fluttershy.
"Yeah rainbow da--"
"Well done sugar cube, knew you could do it!"
"It was ama--"
"That was absolutely incredible my dear, I say, well done."
"I knew you cou--"
"I knew you could do it if you put your mind to it dash! Well done!"
"Yea dash, that was awesome." Fluttershy finally said, but none of them heard her as they were all walking off. "-sigh- why does no one ever care about what I have to say." Said fluttershy with a tear welling up in her eye. As she continued to follow the others, she continued trying to talk over the others and congratulate Rainbow Dash; but none of them could even notice her, let alone hear her. So she decided to turn around and go back home.
Fluttershy had finally fallen asleep in her bed after several hours of non stop crying and sobbing, her bed was soaked in her tears. So the animals decided that they would help her out and change her bed sheets to something dryer and warmer.
The next morning Fluttershy woke up to angel snuggling up next to her, something (I'm going to refer to angel as a guy, seeing as I don't know it's gender sorry) he had not done since he was a baby, to show how much he wanted Fluttershy to be happy. Fluttershy looked at angel with a smile on her face, and small tears in her eyes and whispered in his ear "Thank you." She then got out of her bed and went outside to nurse the birds and sing with them. As she hummed the opening theme song to 'my little pony friendship is magic' she noticed something in the distance hopping up and down.
It was pinkie pie! Fluttershy continued to do her work with the animals until pinkie arrived at her gate. "Fluttershy~" pinkie drawled "why~ weren't~ you~ at~ my~ party~~" pinkie continued to drawl.
"Oh um, because, I was, um, tired, and... Um... I'm sorry..." Fluttershy struggled to come up with an excuse, she wanted to tell pinkie the truth, but then again, she didn't want everyone to know about the truth, because it'd hurt her even more to think that, even though her 'friends' knew what she was going through, they wouldn't necessarily do anything to help. "Oh okay! It just wasn't the same without you is all." Pinkie said as she bobbed away in her usually hyper manner.
"Oh no!" Fluttershy exclaimed, "I'm the bad friend... Not the others..." She ran inside and wept bitterly.
As the party ended, her friends didn't depart, they all figured that they'd still with Fluttershy for the night. "Thank you guys... It means a lot to me."
"Ahh, don't mention it Fluttershy, we couldn't leave someone as awesome as you after a party like tonight's!" Dash responded, trying to remain cool.
"Ooh! The journal..."
"Have it right here." Twilight responded
"Ok, thank you," said Fluttershy. "Ok... How to start...... Oh I know! Friendship is a truly magical thing, because, even if you don't think you're worth much, or you think your friends feel that way towards you; it's more than likely just assumptions you've made up in your head when you've been feeling down... Like what I've been doing... But, when you are feeling down, you should always talk to someone you know you can trust, like a family member, or some of your friends, it'll help you get the emotions out, and it will also make your friendships stronger." Fluttershy stopped writing and put the pencil down. "So what do you guys think?"
"I think that was perfect." Twilight said, as the rest nodded in agreement.
"I can't quite thank you guys enough... Th-thank you."
"Oh now, don't go thanking us, we didn't do anything different from what you would do for us."
"Yeah!"
"Indeed!
"Yep!"
"That's right."
More tears of joy were welling up in Fluttershys eyes, "Thank you so much for being my friends." She managed to say before bursting into tears of happiness and hugging all of her friends.
