Chapter 27: Days of New
Previous ChapterNext ChapterSix months later:
The day of their wedding had finally rolled around, Twilight was really antsy. Not because of any perceived invasion (the changelings were already there, hell Chrysalis was in the room with her right now,) but she was agitated because she wanted everything to go so smoothly. Everypony in Equestria, and outside, was watching this wedding. This was unprecedented, not only did she get pregnant after becoming a princess, but for most of the world, it was some type of creature that they’d never seen before.
“Calm down.” Chrysalis spoke up, “You’ve got nothing to worry about.”
“How can you say that?” Cadance asked, “If she’s worried about her wedding, only going out there and finishing it will really make her feel better.”
“Psh.” Chrysalis huffed.
“Twilight, why don’t you tell us what’s wrong?” Rarity asked.
“We’re here to help.” Velvet nodded.
“It’s just… it feels like right now the entire world is watching me. I’m marrying somep… someone outside of any known species. Before we even got married, let alone before he proposed… he got me pregnant.” Twilight sighed. “I’m just thrown into the spotlight…”
“But, you won’t be alone.” Velvet stated. “Sweetie… you need to realize, the man waiting for you, he isn’t going to go anywhere. He’ll be right there to support you through whatever you need.”
“I’d honestly be surprised if he isn’t just as anxious… look at all he’s been through as well, he ended up here, in a new strange world… knowing absolutely nothing of us, not even coming through conscious! He nearly died twice so far! But, he still seems so defiant of everything, I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if he’d fight his way out of Tartarus for you. Now look, he’s waiting out there, all because you said yes to marrying him… you, and the ponies in this room, and the room he’s in, are all he has. Most of the ponies outside of your friends and family…” Cadance began.
“And me.” Chrysalis added.
“And her, Celestia, and Luna… they’re all out there to watch you get married, this is a world changing event. But, forget about all of that. Forget about it being a ‘Royal’ Wedding. This is a day you’ve been planning for nearly six months now. Forget about the ‘show’ that the world’s expecting. Focus on your happiness. Focus on your life after today.” Cadance continued.
“Your sister’s right, Twilight. Don’t worry about the high expectations… I doubt after seeing six months of you at your best and worst… Arkantos would care if you ‘messed’ up today. He’ll just be happy to see you. Heck, these few hours before the ceremony are more than likely killing him. If Shining and Nightlight weren’t in there with him he’d probably have broken down every door between him and you.” Velvet laughed.
Cadance glanced to Chrysalis.
“Look, I’m not big on weddings… you probably couldn’t tell.” She chuckled. “The only part I like about them is crashing them… but, seeing as that was for a reason that simply can’t exist now… Take their advice. And heed mine, when you go out there, sure, everypony and everything on this world will be watching you. But they’ll always be watching you and your friends. There will be those waiting for you to slip up…”
“Oh, they’ll always be there…” Cadance sighed.
“Just let them watch and wait. You’re about to have a husband who not only helped save Equestria, but is considered a folk hero already by all of Canterlot. You two aren’t just royalty anymore. You’re two heroes unifying. You’ll have an entire massive city willing to back you two up. But you, you have family and friends to back you up in your time of need… Arkantos has my son, my drones… me, your family, and the few friends he’s made so far there for him. Why don’t you add yourself permanently to that list? Be there for him when only you can help him… where nopony else can ever tread.” Chrysalis straightened up. “Don’t let a group of snobby nobles and foreign royalty put you down. If you want something to focus on, focus on the regular ponies, and creatures watching this wedding. If what I heard about at your coronation was true… you have more than enough backing for this.” She laughed, walking up to Twilight. “Though really, why would you listen to me? The only thing I can do is read your emotions… though, your fiance has proven me to be inadequate at reading yours. Go out there, and get married, you don’t need it to be happy, you two are already ecstatic around each other…” She put her hand on Twilight’s shoulder, the violet alicorn looking right into her eyes. “Trust that together, you’ll be stronger than you ever were apart. If you keep that belief held close, nothing will tear you down.”
Twilight took in a deep breath.
“Wow that was…”
“Deep.”
“Sometimes I do give good advice.” Chrysalis laughed, “I have ruled my hive for hundreds of years… you learn quite a lot during that length of time.”
The door to the room opened up, Celestia peeking in. “Are you ready, Twilight?”
Twilight took in a deep breath and readied herself, “As ready as I’ll ever be.” She said.
“Then come, your father is waiting for you.” Celestia smiled.
Twilight let her veil down and slowly walked out of the room.
“You look stunning.” Celestia complimented.
“Thank you.” Twilight smiled.
“Twilight!” Nightlight ran in, smiling widely at his daughter.
“Hi, dad.” Twilight hugged him.
“Are you ready?” He asked.
“Of course.” She nodded.
“Great!” He took her hand, “Now, let’s see you two get married.”
“Yeah, let’s get the ceremony over with…” Twilight smiled, her father leading her to her waiting husband.
