MLP Presents: WWE Monday Night Magic
Chapter 2: Three Weeks to Backlash
Previous Chapter[NOTE: Ok this one's actually a real note. For those who might be unsure, any unquoted, unchanged words are Spike Adamle's. He's basically the story's narrator. Also, you may notice I'm skipping to certain parts of the episode. That's because I'm trying to keep the story largely limited to sequences that connect to the main feud(s). Don't worry, though. Following Backlash, I'll be inserting a lot of major players into this. Finally, don't assume you know for a fact how this story is going to go even though it's clear what part of MLP is playing out here. I promise you, there are quite a few twists in this universe.]
Hello, once again, viewing audience, and welcome to Monday Night Magic! This is the first of the final three shows that will build up to the Backlash event. Joining me tonight is the color commentator, John "Brayburn" Layfield.
"Well, shoot, Spike! I can't believe I had to miss last week, but I am revved up for what should be an amazing show tonight!"
That's certainly right, Brayburn. For those new to the program, I'm Spike Adamle, and following last week's incredible announcement from our commissioner, Cadence, we are now in a serious buildup to a match for the vacant EWE World Championship.
"John Celestia and Luna Goode have been through so much history together. I'll be interested to see how this kind of a match will affect their behavior around each other."
Well we'll get an indicator later tonight when the two competitors stand in the middle of the ring along with Cadence Bischoff to sign the contract for the title match. Until then, though, we have a night full of matches to get to.
...
We're live here on Monday Night Magic and we open the final hour with Feather Weight in the ring as he awaits his opponent. And here comes the incomprehensible gibberish over what sounds like wubs that signal the entrance of Discord 1.
"I have no idea how anyone listens to that nonsense. It's like that DJ Pon-3 stuff only with all the rhythm cut out."
And there's the bell and Discord wastes no time kicking Feather Weight in the head. He quickly picks him up and there's a vertical suplex.
"He seems upset to say the least. He usually toys with his opponents."
Discord is now taunting the audience by doing a little jig.
"Did you REALLY just say 'a little jig?'"
Well in any case he's focused now. Feather Weight is up and is up in the air. EUROPEAN UPPERCUT! There's the cover. 1.. 2.. it's over.
That wasn't much of a match but...
"Stop the music!" Discord said.
"Hmhmmm my my, Cadence. You really think that you can keep me out of the title picture. You should know that I'm not one to give up that easily.
"Joanie, Lulu. I sincerely hope you have real fun going against each other at Backlash, because I'll be waiting in the wings, so to speak. Just remember, the thirst for power can really get to even the closest of companions. I sincerely hope you can keep yourselves intact."
A very ominous message has been made by Discord 1, but he raises a real question about how this title match will affect the former tag champions. Your thoughts, Brayburn?
"When you're aspiring to become the best in the world, it's a lonely road to the top. Whichever of the two gets that more will wind up champion."
Well that confrontation between the contenders will happen in the final segment tonight.
...
We're back and what a night it has been. We saw Doctor Whooves return from injury to win a highly competitive match against Leann "Bon Bon" Binobi.
"It was great to see the Doctor back in action and despite his different look he looks to still be a force in the EWE."
Among the other results, Divas Champion Lyra defeated Octavia in a non-title bout and Canterlot Champion Fancy Pants has made an open challenge for the Backlash event.
"Well Cadence is in the ring now so how about we hush up, Spike?"
And on that note let's hand this off to Commissioner Cadence Bischoff.
"Welcome, EWE Universe to the contract ceremony for the vacant EWE World Championship! Introducing first, Joan Celestia!
"And the other contender for the title, Luna Goode!
"The contract is on the table. Please sign it and if you have anything to say to each other, now is the time to do it. You have the floor first, Celestia."
"Thank you, Cadence. I am more than happy to sign this. The EWE World Championship is the greatest honor that can be bestowed upon a competitor. I'm truly honored to be facing you, Luna, but I am concerned that this could affect our precious friendship. I hope you know I won't be holding back and I expect the same from you, but I hold nothing personal against you. It's all business.
"It's signed. You have the floor now."
"Thank you, dearest Celestia. But let's get one thing clear. You should be expecting no less than 100 percent from me. This championship has been a goal of mine since I got into the business, and I frankly do feel insulted you'd think I would take this personally. When the match begins, our relationship is on hold, but once the pinfall or submission is done, we will go right back to the way things were. Is that the assurance you needed? You know what? Don't answer that. I'm putting this conversation past me, and you should do the same. Now that this contract is signed, I'll see you in 20 days for that prize we all crave."
Celestia replied, "That's all I needed to hear, but I don't need attitude from you."
"You want my all? You're getting full force," Luna said.
"And now that it's official, we will see you at Backlash!" Cadence said as the two competitors stared each other down.
This staredown is just a glimpse as to what Backlash is going to bring. There's definitely going to be one heck of a match coming up in a few short weeks.
"I can already tell. These two are going to be at each other's throats come match time. Their friendship will definitely be tested during that match."
And on that note, on behalf of Brayburn, I'm Spike Adamle signing off for Monday Night Magic!
