Nights of vivid dreams and painful headaches haunt a human on Earth. When his dreams manifest into physical changes, he has to come to terms with one of two things: a complete mental breakdown, or the impossible transformation into a blue-maned unicorn stallion.

Worries about how his life on Earth will continue are swept away when this human-turned-horse is thrust into the role of Shining Armor: Captain of the Royal Guard, brother to Celestia's prized pupil, and soon, husband of the Princess of Love, Mi Amore Cadenza, as the final events of A Canterlot Wedding unfold as real as can be.

With no recollection of Shining's past, the human Prince realizes that life as Equestrian royalty isn't as straightforward as a children's television show would make it appear. As the chances of returning to a normal human life disappear with each passing day, a concerned wife and suspicious little sister worry that the colt they know and love isn't the same after the battle with Chrysalis.
