The show was in its 10th season, and Hasbro milked the series dry with every iteration of ponies they can think of. Twilight's Kingdom wasn't that horrible, and we dealt with the Rainbow Power season well enough. But after the Grand Coronation and Twilight's Wedding, things just weren't the same. People say that after every season, but... a picture of Crystal Rainbow Princess Pinkie Pie stares back at me, in her arms-up party pose, wings spread wide, and sparkly glitter shooting from her horn. Hasbro's My Little Pony 10th Anniversary Special, brought to you by The Hub.

I had forgotten all about it until I got the link from a friend on Skype. Today was the 10th anniversary of the show. It was also the season finale... and the show's finale. Given how popular this thread is, it must've been something controversial.  I'm not really surprised, with how hard Hasbro marketed their new Crystal Rainbow Princess toy line leading up to today. It had to have been horrible.

My interest in the show was gone by Season 7. I still hadn't finished Season 9; it felt like a chore to watch these episodes. More and more, I found myself going back to watch the earlier seasons. I was still a teen when these first aired, and I really didn't understand the appeal of girly pastel ponies back then. By the time I got on board, Season 2 was coming to an end, and many thought the show was already over, with the new alicorn princess and the upcoming wedding episode...

A Canterlot Wedding was actually what hooked me into the show. When you go in expecting a big girly wedding, and instead you get what that episode brought us, it's hard not to get hooked. Yeah, there was still a girly wedding, and Cadance was pretty and pink, but I couldn't help but think she was a cutie. When Season 3 came around and featured the couple again, I was ecstatic. I hadn't picked out a waifu before, but fuck it, she was perfect. My favorite pony.

I get up from my chair and walk over to my window, taking a look outside. It's a dreary day, raining down hard on Downtown, pretty much what you would expect from living in the Pacific Northwest. I personally thought the perks of having legal weed outweighed being soaked whenever I wanted to go outside. When you're a single twenty-something living by yourself in the city, there isn't much incentive to go outside to begin with, and the pot helped keep me from sending myself to Equestria with a noose.

It didn't take long before that emptiness started seeping into me. This happened after every TV show I finished. That sinking quietness, knowing there won't be another one to follow. The clock on my desktop tells me it's just before 11pm, my usual bedtime. I know I have to open shop tomorrow, so why am I digging out my old external hard drive?

I start feeling a bit better after I've smoked another bowl, and the familiar My Little Pony theme hits my ears. I don't even mute it this time around. My eyes dance across the screen as characters move in and out of frame, humming alongside the Mane 6's parts, and I feel another tear streak down my cheek as the cast holds that long "frieeeeeeeeeeeends" at the end.

"Yer brother's gettin' married?" Applejack races up and grabs Twilight's hoof with hers, "Congratulations Twilight, that's great news!"

"Yeah, great news," the annoyance thick in Twilight's voice, trotting away with the letter. "that I just got from a wedding invitation! Not from my brother..."
