“Be careful, honey. And write as soon as you can,“ yelled Opals father, as she got on the long train ride bound for Manehattan
“Yes, I will dad,“ yelled opal in her Trottingham (British) accent while boarding the train.
A light brown mare with matching mane and tail was heading to Manehattan to follow her dream of becoming a famous singer since Manehattan was where everyone went to get into showbiz.
Many hours later.
Opal was awoken by the train conductor, “Miss, miss, we’re here,“ said the train conductor, shaking Opal awake. She awoke with a puzzled look on her face.
“Oh, yes, thank you,” said Opal, getting up and picking up her saddlebags and then leaving the train. As soon as her front hooves hit the Manehattan ground, her eyes lit up with wonder. Opal ventured forward farther into the vast city that still was under construction, such more built up then her own small town. But also it was a place of violence, the biggest illegal cider trade, and speakeasies, but a place of brilliant shows, glitz, and glamour. Opal was trotting around Manehattan taking in the sights, but not heading in any place in particular. Opal trotted around for about a hour, then she made a very bad mistake. She turned into a dark alleyway.
“Drop your bags and get down on the ground and I won’t hurt you,“ said a mysterious voice from the darkness.
Opal did as the voice said, trembling and shaking as she unhooked her saddlebags and put her stomach to the ground. Slowly the voice and the pony it belonged to emerged from the darkness and nudged open the saddlebag and started to look though her bags.
Opal used her hoof to hit the mugger in the back of the head and then pin them down to the floor. Opal tied her attacker up and waited for them to wake up.

Showtime woke up with a splitting headache, last thing she remembered she was on one of her daily shopping trips. Which was, in simple terms, mugging and stealing goods from any unsuspecting pony that was unfortunate to walk in to the dark alleyways of the city. “Where the hell am I?” Showtime screamed, waking up. Her vision cleared and she looked down and found her self tied up, she also found a mare around her age staring at her with massive brown orbs. The mare was light brown with matching mane and tail although her mane and tail had a slightly darker shade.
“Who are you? Untie me!” said Showtime to the mare in front of her.
“No, you tried to mug me,“ replied the mare in front of her.
“Ok, ok, I’m sorry. I do what I can to get by,” said Showtime to the mare in front of her.
“Who are you any way?“ said the mare.
“That’s what I asked you earlier,” said Showtime.
“I think I have the upper hoof at the moment, so start talking,” said the mare angrily. Showtime told the stranger her name and in return the stranger told her her name.
“My name is Opal, Opal Crystal, now tell me Showtime, why would you ever do this to weak naive ponies, luckily I know how to defend myself, but other ponies might not, how many have you stolen from and left them with nothing, do you have no soul?“ said Opal going into lecture mode.
During this, Showtime had managed to wriggle out of the rope that had been keeping her tied up.
"Got to eat to live, got to steal to eat,“ Showtime said slyly, trotting away towards home.
"Hey, stop, I am not done with you!“ yelled Opal after her picking up her saddlebags.
Showtime trotted even faster, trying to shake of this mare.
She didn’t need any pony discovering about her or her life. But opal was catching up fast, Showtime trotted up the stairs as quick as she could. Finally she reached the twelfth floor and opened the door. Then She also locked it behind her. "Mama, mama are you ok?" said Showtime rushing in to aid her ill mother.
"Yes my child, but I fear I only have moments,“ said her mother.
"No, mama, don't say that,“ said Showtime, beginning to sob into her mothers sheet.
"Listen to me Showtime, I love you, if I only have a few moments, I'm glad that it is with my beautiful and amazing daughter. Now my child there is something I must tell you,“ said her mother slowly, in a tone that said she was slowly slipping away.
"What is it mama,“ asked Showtime, in between sobs.
"You have a twin sister, she lives in Trottingham with your father, her name is-," said her mother, but was cut off by the pain. "Her name is-“ she continued.
"What is her name mother?“ said Showtime leaning forward to nuzzle her mother.
"Opal Crystal,“ said her mother.
Suddenly, the front door of their flat was kicked open, and none other than Opal Crystal was standing in front of the two mares.
