Prologue - Sisters' Fight

Princess Celestia was thrown against a wall by her own sister. The snow-white princess slowly recovered from the impact, her mane and tail moving freely around with the colors of the aurora as she recovered her composure. Standing on her hooves, she looked straight at Princess Luna, her face reddening thanks to a cut just under her horn bleeding slowly.

“Luna! What are you doing?” Celestia faced her sister and suddenly her eyes widened in surprise.

The slightly slender form of Luna was slowly being covered in her own magic, changing in color from the deep blue to pitch black. Where once stood a cute dark blue alicorn princess now was a pitch black fully grown mare with same dark blue always flowing mane and tail. Her turquoise eyes still held their natural colors, but changed to dragon-like pupils instead of the sympathetic round pupils most ponies had. Also, her body was covered by a deep blue armor with plenty of little sparkles, like stars in a starry night sky. All four hooves were covered in greaves with silver details full of curvedly shapes, covering everything until her knees, where new plate pieces would start to cover what was left of her legs. Her body also was covered in armor plates with a dark blue stream running down her spine and from it, smaller dark gray plates would close over her chest and belly. Each leg was joined at the plates by one of the moon phases: a full moon at her right foreleg, a new moon at her left foreleg a crescent moon on her right hind leg and a waning moon on her left hind leg. Her wings also held their own armor, not getting in the way of the feathers, as her silvery metal plates turned the feathers of his wings into sharp blades, and over her head the helmet concealed and protected the head of the Princess of the Night, only leaving the long and tall horn out.

“What I’m doing, Celestia? I’m taking control of what’s mine!” she answered. As Luna spoke, her teeth showed her pointy teeth and her turquoise dragon-like pupils focused on her sister.

“There is no ‘mine’ or ‘yours’, Luna! We rule together!”

“LUNA IS NO MORE!” the night princess screamed in rage, opening her wings furiously strong, sending powerful winds around, making Celestia cover her eyes with her forehooves. “FROM NOW ON, YOU SHALL BOW TO THE FURY OF NIGHTMARE MOON!”

Nightmare Moon then, threw a hoof at the direction of her sister strongly. The magic of the furious alicorn focused on her hand instead of the typical way of forming in her horn, and then was thrown against the air, forming extremely thin ice shards flying against the Sun Princess.

Celestia, in the urge to protect herself, opened her wings and covered her body with them, focusing the power of the sun. The ice shards quickly melted away with the warmth of Celestia’s power. When Celestia opened her wings, the heat wave melted what ice Luna had conjured, and the Sun Princess revealed that she had also readied herself to battle, summoning her armor.

Different from deep night colored armor of Nightmare Moon, Celestia’s armor was mostly colored in white and a rage of fire-related colors for details, not so soft edged details as her sister’s armor, but still gracious with the flame-like details. The hooves were covered in armor ending in flame pattern at the knees, starting from a deep red color and fading to a bright orange, the leg plates shining in a dark gold to contrast with the pure white metal used as armor over her body. Her torso, though, wasn’t formed by plates, but was instead a single piece with two glowing circles at each shoulder and a stylized sun just in front of her chest. The sides of her armor were covered in flame-like drawings with similar coloration with the heating element that represented the Princess. Her wings had been covered by light plates with a semi-sphere positioned at the extremity of the wing and with long sun rays covering mostly of the feathers while still allowing mobility. Her helmet protected graciously her head, allowing only her horn and mane outside, mostly like her sister.

“You must retain your calm! We both have royal duties, as princesses of Equestria!” Celestia said, already placing herself in defense position.

“I know we have royal duties, sister mine!” Nightmare Moon then closed her eyes and let a grin split her muzzle. “But for now, my royal duty is only one!” opening her eyes wide, she focused her magic on her horn. “My royal duty is TO DESTROY YOU!”

Closing her eyes strongly, Celestia quickly took off just in time to avoid a powerful beam that crushed deeply into the ground and wall where it hit. She then opened her wings and took off after Celestia at full speed, ready to hit with a strong punch, which the Sun Princess easily blocked and counter-attacked with a powerful kick into Nightmare Moon’s side, making her fly sideways.

“Luna! Stop with this! We’re sisters; we shouldn’t be fighting like this!”

“I said already…” her eyes closed in fury and Nightmare Moon crossed both hooves in front of her chest, where dark spheres started to form in her hooves “The name is…” she raised both hooves and the two spheres grew, merging together into a deep space view “NIGHTMARE MOON!” Then, small meteors crossed from this hole she created and flew straight against Celestia

Grinding her teeth, Celestia focused the magic on her horn and made a wide circle in front of her body. Suddenly, a large flame sphere was summoned into existence and Celestia threw it forward, slowly destroying the offending flaming stones, but was weak enough for Nightmare Moon slowly shoves away with a flap of her wings.

“Can’t you see it, sister? Our powers are even… I don’t want to hurt you, so why don’t you stop this?” Celestia tried again.

Deciding to stop talking, Nightmare Moon just focused the magic from her horn and shot another powerful blast against Celestia, who flew high to avoid and broke free through the ceiling. Nightmare Moon then took chase, shooting both energy beams from her horn and magic spheres from her hooves against the fleeing Sun Princess.

Enraged by Celestia’s antics, Nightmare Moon then flew higher opened her wings wide, flapping them once strongly. To Celestia’s surprise, she suddenly saw plenty of massive ice spheres being thrown against her. Avoiding the first three, punching and smashing a couple more with her bare hooves, Celestia never saw the powerful blast that hit her squarely in the chest.

Smashing her back against the hard floor of the throne room, Celestia looked up at her laughing sister before she magically summoned some ancient pedestals holding the most powerful artifacts known in Equestrian history.

“I’m sorry, sister… But you’re giving me no choices…”

Closing her eyes and focusing her magic, Celestia brought the six Elements of Harmony and they suddenly began spinning around Celestia, her armor shining and changing to hold the Elements. The new armor was completely white without any details but for the slots in the four shoulders, one between her wings on her back and the main, the Element of Magic, right in front of her chest where once stood her stylized sun.

Opening her eyes, Celestia flew up again. Looking at Nightmare Moon furious, she decided to try one last time, “Luna… Stop with this madness! We should rule together!”

“Last time I warn you, Celestia! I am… NIGHTMARE MOON!” and again the night ruler shot a magic beam at Celestia.

This time however, Celestia gave a sad sigh and raised her eyes again, focusing both her magic and the magic of the Elements in a single powerful blast against her sister. As the two attacks collided, a bright shine illuminated the whole scenery…
