Switched
Chapter 1: Are You Me?
Load Full StoryNext ChapterHave you ever had a moment in your life where your body were randomly switched with somepony and you have no freaking idea what happened or what might have caused it; and to make things worse, the pony you were switched with is the same pony that you hated for all your life! Has something as crazy as that ever happened to you?
Yep, that never happened to me either…. until now that is.
My name is Thunderlane and right now, me and Rainbow Dash are trapped inside a dead end of a cave with a couple of rocks just in front of us, or to put it simply, we're trapped. Dash was lying beside me, resting his head on my chest, crying his eyes out, I lifted up one of my front hooves and started to stroke his mane. "Don't worry Dash, everything will be alright. Your friends will save us... I hope." I said, attempting to at least calm him down. Dash then looked up at me, his eyes were still filled with tears. I looked back at him.
Just by looking at his teary-eyed face made my heart break, but after a few seconds looking at each other, he eventually said "I know that, Thunderlane... but what if they can't save us in time. Sooner or later, the air’s going to disappear, you know." I heard him sniffle as he stopped looking at my face and started to lay down and rest his head on my chest again, after a few seconds, he let out a sigh. At least he wasn't crying anymore... although he was right above the air though, the longer we stay in this cave, the higher the chance that me and Dash will die of suffocation. I can only hope that somepony will save us soon.
Now, I know what you're thinking:
"Why did you emphasize he, his, and him when you were referring to Dash?"
"How did you two manage to get trapped in this cave?"
"Are you two gonna die?!"
Well then, to answer all your questions, I’m afraid I have to tell you what happened yesterday; between me and Rainbow Dash of course.
Again, my name is Thunderlane and this is my story.
Celestia’s sun just rose up through my room when I slowly woke up from my bed, the sun rays just hitting my still-closed eyes. I let out a little yawn and started to lift up my hooves to rub my eyes “Another day, another adventure.” I thought to myself as I was still rubbing my eyes “And by 'adventure', I meant another whole day full of mail delivering and weather controlling.” I let out a unusually loud sigh at my own thoughts and got off from my bed, I then started to walk to my right, towards the bathroom door… or at least what I thought was supposed to be the bathroom door.
SLAM!
A feeling of shocked and embarrassment washed over me when I happen to slam face-first onto a cloud wall, quickly realizing my clumsy action, I backed my face away from the wall and started to adjust my vision a bit more.
Mind you, I was still tired at that time and I can’t see anything quite clearly so when I did adjust my vision, I just saw a cloud wall in front of me, nothing more; nothing less. “What the---?! Wasn't there supposed to be a door in here?” I let out a grunt and started to turn around and right in front of me, stood a poster of Daring Do, the protagonist of the popular book series of the same name, written by some mare named A.K. Yearling, as I remembered.
“Huh? Since when did I get a Daring Do poster?” I paused myself to examine the poster a little closer, taking in the features, I have to admit, this poster was amazing ”I love the series and all but WHAT the hay is a poster of Daring Do doing here in MY room?” I thought in pure disbelief. I quickly shook it off as I turned my head to the right and saw something else that caught me eye... a balcony.
“Wait... a balcony?!” I know strange things happen in Equestria sometimes but this is ridiculous. First, there was no door in the right wall where it should have, a randomly appearing Daring Do poster from who-knows-where, and now, a freaking balcony right there in front of me where it shouldn't be! “Just where am I exactly? Am I even in my room? What kind of sorcery is this?!” These questions ran through my mind as I quickly took in my new surroundings.
Instead of the arched windows I had, these windows were quite circular. The exit to this room was now right beside my bed instead of in front, they were more posters here and there (some of them were quite… exotic), the bed was completely different, a lamp randomly appeared on top of my dresser beside my bed, said dresser contained nothing but Daring Do books and some manebrushes, and there was no bathroom door at all!
I was starting to freak out but looking at this strange room again, a thought entered my mind “Okay, so my room is totally different, hmm..... Yep! This is totally a dream. Why else would my room be so different.” I turned my head around and saw the balcony again, it seems that the longer I looked at that balcony, the more I wanted to fly outside using it "... It wouldn't hurt to fly outside, right? I mean this is just a dream after all, or more specifically, this is MY dream so I can pretty much do anything I want." I put on a smile on my face as I trotted towards the balcony.
“This should be fun right? Dreams can't hurt OR scare me. So far, I've only seen a brand new room, that didn't hurt or scare me.” I thought while my smile turned into a cocky grin, I was getting closer and closer to the balcony and I was pretty much ready to spread my wings and fly out of this place.
“It can't scare you..... unless it's a nightmare.” I suddenly lost my grin and I started shivering at the thought as memories from my last nightmare slowly start to resurface in my mind. I quickly shook the horrible memory off of my head and I realized that I was now standing on the balcony. Feeling the cool breeze blowing my mane, I started to spread my wings. Celestia really outdid herself with the sun this morning, the air wasn't really cold but the sun wasn't really that hot either, but then again, this was my dream so I was pretty much the 'Celestia' in here. I let out a quick laugh as I started to flap my wings.
Feeling that my hooves were now off the cloud house, I flapped my wings a little bit faster and then I took off to the sky. I didn't look back, I didn't even look back at the cloud house, I just flew and let my wings control my flight, feeling the warm air blowing on my mane.
A few minutes or so has passed on my dream and I’m still not waking up. It was fine though since that means I can start doing my tricks but before that, I got an idea "Hey wait a minute! Since this is my dream and all, maybe I should summon the Wonderbolts right here so I can show them my slick moves!" I started to feel giddy just imagining them right here, being impressed by my tricks and all that. Though I admit, me being all giddy because of a famous aerial team was pretty much girly for my tastes but who can blame me, they are the Wonderbolts after all.
Stopping myself from my seemingly endless thoughts, I started to summon them in my dream, but unfortunately, they didn't. I got a little bit confused but I tried again, and again, and again, and again but to no avail "Why won't they appear to me? This is MY dream, I demand that they appear here RIGHT NOW!" This time, I used all my so-called 'brain' power to summon them, I tried as hard as I could, but when I opened my eyes, right there in front of me... was the sky. "OH COME ON!!!" I shouted from the top of my lungs, after that, I quickly covered my mouth with my hoof, and no, it wasn't because I shouted at nopony, it was because....
"Did I just shouted..... in Rainbow Dash's voice?
Before I could react about the freaky voice change, a black blur suddenly bumped into my chest. The impact hurt a little bit but it quickly faded away when a stray cloud, not too far from where I was hit, stopped both me and my assailant from going further away. I could feel my assailant resting on my chest but then, I heard something flapping its wings, possibly from the one who just bumped into me.
I feel its body lifting up, away from my chest but I can still hear it flapping its wings. I was thinking that my assailant was preparing to fly away so I opened up my eyes, but after I did, I saw the most freakiest thing I will ever see in my entire life and that's saying something. I was so consumed by my own shock that I couldn't move, I couldn't even speak. I was just lying there, on a cloud, hanging my mouth open like I was waiting for a fly to go inside.
Hovering just in front of me, a black pegasus stallion with light cyan and white mane was using one of his hooves to rub his head around gently, possibly hurt from the impact, all the while flapping its wings; the mane I mentioned earlier was styled into a mohawk, his tail was pretty much short. I tilted my head to the right, and right there, plastered on his flank, was a thundercloud with a yellow lightning bolt coming out of it.
Both of his eyes were still closed but after a few minutes, he too, was opening his eyes. When the black stallion looked directly in front of me, his mouth went agape, just like I did not too long ago. After a few seconds, my sense kicked in along with my voice and, at the same time with the all-too-familiar pegausus stallion, we both shouted:
“ARE YOU ME?!?!”
