The Watcher, Chapter 2

(1 year 4 months later) Celestia POV

I went down the hall and called my bird Philomena, as she appeared in a plume of fire, I thought back to the threat made on Canterlot. Along with the wedding between Shining Armor and Cadence. I sent the invitation along with a message to meet me when they arrive

I only hope this works.

(Present Day) Watcher POV

"So..... You're an un-aging, sun controlling, pony princess?" I asked in shear disbelief, because this was ridiculous.

"Yes that's correct." She replied with a completely straight face. "You haven't told me much about yourself aside from your profession."

"I don't remember much from before that time, the curse takes your memories, starting with those you love." I said clenching my fist. "But.... It seems I'm cured, even though that's supposed to be impossible without having lit the first fire." She responded to that with more questions and eventually I ended up reciting the prologue to Dark Souls 1.

"That's dismaying, the dragons of Equestria are far more civil than the ones here. And our demons are all locked behind the gates of Tartarus." Wait... Tartarus? Does she have a way to get to my world, maybe there are two entrances to hell. Maybe more. Regardless, we first have to find a way to reach her world.

"The demons here are merely misunderstood, they became monsters because of how they were treated." I spoke with complete certainty.

"Oh?" Sunshine wanted me to go on.

"Because of their grotesque appearance and outstanding strength, people were afraid of the demons, and hunted them." She sat with an expression of understanding. "They wanted nothing more than to protect that which created them, the flame of chaos, so they rarely leave the ruins even now. Those that have merely serve as a deterrent to enter the ruins. The only real difference between then and now is that they attack anything that isn't a demon now."

"The poor things." No later than when she said that, we heard the whirring of a mechanism, I head up to the elevators and sure enough, there's Vendrick, hollow and beaten to hell, but he was still there.

"Woah dude, you okay?" I asked, helping him to the bonfire.

"Mother. Fucking. Gargoyles." He said before collapsing at the fire. The flames reawoke him, I went over to the well and retrieved three black sprites from a corpse, Celestia was appalled. I handed him one and helped him crush it, even if he was healed he had to still be sore.

"You stay here Vendrick, rest a bit, you've earned it." He could only nod as he closed his eyes and slept. He still seems so familiar. "Celestia," I say as I turn to her, "let's go."

Celestia POV

Vendrick, he is a skilled warrior, but to see him beaten so ruthlessly was unacceptable. This had to be taken care of. We went up the interesting device into what seemed to he a Parish. Watcher held his sword up to eye-level, slid his hand along it, and it started to radiate power.

He sprinted up the stairs and we were stopped momentarily by what seemed to be a knight. Without hesitation, Watcher kicked the knights shield leaving him open, and drove his sword clean through its neck.

This violence, this rage, it's so similar to Luna. Dear sister, I miss you.

In my nostalgia I almost missed him sprinting ahead again. He ran into a room and was swarmed by these, zombie like creatures with broken swords. He was fast though and dead angled the swing of his sword in a full circle, cleaving half of them in half and scarring the others.

He drove his sword into the ground and used it to swing himself around and kick two of them in the face. When his feet touched the ground again he tightened his grip on the blade, raised it above his head, and split the last one down the middle.

"Such brutality, how are you capable of this?" I was next to horrified, and I would have been had I not just been holding an hour long conversation with this man.

"King Vendrick's name inspires undying loyalty, that man helped us escape, and these things are keeping him from breaking the curse. I'm not allowing that by any measure of will." He sheathed his sword and marched farther up. We eventually came upon a wall of fog, I went to pass but he stopped me, he turned to a golden signature on the floor in a language I couldn't read. He placed his hand on it and spoke. "I summon thee glorious Warrior of Sunlight, Solaire aid us in our struggle."

The signature vanished, and from the ground rose a man clad in iron armor with a symbol of the sun emblazoned on his shield and chest-plate, all of this complimented by a golden aura he gave off.

"Greetings traveller how may I assist thee." He spoke with a kind voice, but one that gave off power nonetheless. Watcher nodded his head in the direction of the fog, then pushed through, us chasing after.

POV Watcher

I have no idea why I've been acting like this or how I fought like that, but it's awesome. As I pushed through the fog I looked at my shining sword. And at my small but powerful shield. And I knew that even in a 2v1 the gargoyles wouldn't stand a chance.

The first one shook itself free and dived down at me in mid swing with its tail. I jumped forward and grabbed the non-bladed part of its tail in the upswing and drove my shield into its jaw, then I switched hands and on the sudden descent I slashed downward with my sword cutting the gargoyle down the center of its entire body before slashing off its tail.

This was when I noticed something was very wrong, not only around me, but with me as well. One, I started feeling slower, like my normal self. Two, this was bad because it turned out that all of the statues are gargoyles. Shit

In order to make up for the sudden lack of strength, I gripped the sword with both hands and stumbled a bit. Now let me get this out of the way right now, I wasn't very special before, I had an average job with low pay. I hated my family in comparison to my friends. But I always had one thing, I could easily fight with nearly any weapon, on an adept level.

All of this being said, I had my ass handed to me as I turned around. I took the flat of a tail axe blade to the face and was sent flying straight into the bell tower wall, making a dent. And that's when everything went black.

Celestia POV

I watched him sail into the wall in almost slow motion, all but helpless to stop it, as the gargoyles started approaching Watcher, Solaire ran forward and leapt. The gargoyle had its wing impaled by Solaire's blade. Only for him to be smacked off.

The creature brought up its halberd and I moved on instinct. A surge of magic flowed from my horn and collided with the gargoyle, melting its wings to its torso and sending it into uncontrolled flight off the roof. A gargoyle went to immolate me with fire, and was struck with a lightning bolt thrown by our new friend.

The gargoyle dropped, the lightning bolt shattered its entire head. I looked around and analyzed everything ; there were seven gargoyles left (all angered by our existence), Solaire was on the other end of the rooftop from me as I was in front of Watcher, and the former was approaching a claymore impaled into the ground. Why would he need that?

That question was quickly answered as he ripped it out of the ground and THREW it across the rooftop to me, I caught it with my magic and readied myself for what was to come. The magic was weaker in this world and I couldn't afford to waste powerful spells.

I flew over one of their heads and swung down with the claymore as hard as I could, but it brought up its halberd and blocked my strike with the shaft. I use my momentum to spin myself around the weapon and thrust my horn through its temple. I quickly pulled my horn from its skull and flew over to Solaire, readying my new sword into a fighting stance.

Watcher POV (last scene)

I woke up in what looked like the throne of want, but I was on the ceiling. The fuck?

"Finally we may talk." I turn around, startled, and stare at myse- I mean, the Throne Watcher. "Your first assumption was correct too, we are part of the same being right now."

"What the absolute fuck."

"I'm not sure how this came to pass either, but you have control of my body. I've been helping whenever I could, but doing more than talking puts a strain on my soul."

"How the fuck are you so calm about Y'know, not having control of your own goddamn body."

"I haven't had control of it for nearly a millennia, so seeing someone with an amount of decency come in ownership of it is almost euphoric." He said with a sigh. "I've been slowly transferring my knowledge of sorcery to you, in case one day I am no longer here to help."

"Uhhh, thanks?"

"You're welcome, now I ask that you wake up. And in regards to the princess, protect her, her purity is something I have not seen for a long time." He then looked as though he was about to remember something. "By the way, my staff of wisdom will be in your bottomless box." And with that I started being pulled back towards reality.

Celestia POV

The gargoyles began surrounding us and I knew that short of using all the magic available to me at the moment, this would be very close.

All at once the gargoyles readied their weapons and flew at us, weapons ready and maws gaping with fire.

"GET THE FUCK AWAY FROM THEM!!!" A ray of blue energy flew through each and every one of the beasts, harshly burning most, and cleaving through a few already damaged ones.

I quickly look over and see Watcher holding a large staff with a bluish-green gem atop it, while he himself was literally shining with power. He brought the staff above his head and it glowed briefly, before his head was surrounded by 5 orbs of magic. He then placed the staff on his back before drawing his sword and sliding his hand across it. This time was different though, this time it didn't just glow with power, it crackled with it as lightning sparked around the blade.

He charged forward like a beast, one of the remaining three gargoyles got in front of him and was immediately skewered by the orbs. Watcher pushed through, without losing any speed, spinning himself in mid air and splitting the next ones' skull in two. The moment he hit the ground he pushed up with all the fury of a god, cracking the roof and entirely goring through the last one, his blades lightning meeting the flesh like butter.

In the next few moments, his demeanor changed entirely. What I would come to know as "Unleash Magic" suddenly subsided, he collapsed on the ground, dropping the sword and spitting up blood.

I turned to Solaire to ask him for assistance, only to see him quickly fade away. I used my magic to move Watcher's arm around me as I helped him up.

Watcher POV

FUUUUUHUUYUUUYUUJGJDHUFJRJUUUUUUUUUUCK!!!!!!! My everything hurts, I knew that using Unleash Magic drained you're health, but I didn't think I would feel all of the fucking damage. Oh god.... Oh god..... I think I can taste my own esophagus.........

"You're gonna be alright Watcher, you're gonna be fine." I heard Sunshine say as she lifted my onto her back, and I couldn't say anything, so I just hugged her tightly. Falling into blissful unconsciousness.
