"Alright, Dashie. I asked Lyra Heartstrings from down the road and she said she saw my triplets and Freedom walking towards Sweet Apple Acres~I think that maybe they went to see Fluttershy or AJ." said Pinkie after she asked said pony. "Alright, let's head for Sweet Apple Acres, then." finalized Dash. "OH! What if...Oh no...My poor triplets... My beloved Free Wishes...The Everfree Forest, Rainbow! What if they got caught by a Timberwolf or a cockatrice? I can't Stare like Fluttershy, nor do I have any aiming skills like AJ or Spike!" Pinkie sobbed hopelessly, her mane flattening in an instant. "Oh, Pinkie."
"Pinkie, can I tell you something I haven't told anypony before? Can you keep a secret?" asked Rainbow softly. "Mhm," replied Pinkie, doing her Pinkie Promise actions at the same time. "Well... When Soarin' went to serve in the army a while back... Do you remember how for a while I didn't even come out of my house?" "Mhm," replied Pinkie. "Well... That's because I was so sure that Soarin' was going to die fighting, so I basically spent all my time trying to communicate with him. The reason he came home early was because the sargents kept having to tell him to patrol, but he had to respond to every single thing I sent him, so they told him that there was someone else who needed him more than the troops did. That, and he can't shoot very well." admitted Dash.
"So what I'm trying to say here is.. Pinkie, he will survive, if only to see you again. He has faith that you will find him again someday." ended Rainbow, whose efforts paid off when Pinkie's mane poofed up a bit again. "Y-you really think he'd do that for me?" she sniffed. "Yep. And the triplets too. No biggie, Pinkie. They'll be back for you."
"Climb, Pinkie, climb! It's not much further! We've got about 10 metres left to go!"
Dash and Pinkie had almost made it to the summit of Mount Everfree, which was on the other side of the Everfree Forest. They had taken about an hour to scour the entire forest, and even then their efforts brought no reward forth. Pinkie struggled to place her right hoof onto the rocky ledge, but then the edge crumbled to pieces, leaving Pinkie hanging by one hoof.
And, of course, the rope tied around her waist, which lead to Dashie's waist, on the summit of the mountain. "Here, Pinkie." Rainbow Dash flew up into the air and pulled a screaming Pinkie up to the summit. Mount Everfree was not the highest mountain in Equestria. It was only a quarter of the height of Mount Celestia, and about a third of the height of Mount Luna, up north. Yet Pinkie's bouncing technique did not work on the very narrow ledges, and very soon, she was forced to climb up hoof by hoof.
Indeed, climbing the 100-metre mountain took her just as long as it took her to scour the Everfree Forest.
"Omygod... Dash, how much longer? 'Till we get to the peak?"
"Pinkie...We're here!"
"Oh...OK!" Pinkie's sweat-drenched hair suddenly went back to normal. Her scratches and bruises faded a bit. Even that worried expression she had worn since she'd had her sudden mind spark that her husband and children may be dead dissipated a bit, but it still stayed ever-so annoyingly. "Let's get going!" She yelled like a mad scientist, thrusting her hoof into the clouds.
