I live my life one day at a time. Most of those days spent at school, or hanging out with the few friends I had back then. Life to me was rather dull, always going through the same, boring routine. But on a day that started out just like any other day, something extraordinary would occur that would change the way I lived my life forever. It all started on that one morning....

"So where are you guys going while I work on a few of my projects?" asked my Dad. Sipping on his morning cup of coffee in the living room.
"Well, I've decided that we'd go to Tanglewood park and take a walk. I heard that not many people go there this time of year." My Mother exclaimed. All dressed and ready to start the day.
My mom had never let me make any decisions of my own even though I was 14 years old now. In fact the only decision I had really ever made on my own was that I'd never tell them that I was a brony. They knew I watched the show, but they didn't know just how much I really crazed over the show, nor the fact that millions of people WAY over the viewing age are big fans of the show. They just thought since I generally watch a lot of cartoons that I just watched the show for being a cartoon. Which wasn't entirely wrong. After all that is what got me into the show, but I ended up liking the series a lot more after I discovered just how many people there were out there who were just like me. Anyway, we got into the car and headed off to the park. I felt that right then would be the best time to talk about that.
"Mom?" I said, a bit hesitantly "Can I ask you something?"
"Well of course, you can ask me anything." My Mom exclaimed.
"Well......I-I wanted to know why I never get to make any decisions on my own."
"Why, I didn't realize that it was like that for you, I promise the next decision that needs to be made you can decide on your own. Is that all right?"
"Yeah, I'd like that." I said kind of ticked that, after years of no freedom, this is how she compensates for it all. But it was better than nothing, so I might as well take it.
So we arrived at the park, to our surprise nobody else was there, we couldn't even see any employees. Regardless, we started on our walk. We saw a field off in the distance, the sun's glimmer making it look as peaceful as a woodland meadow. My mother suggested that we play a bit of Frisbee to pass the time. I still felt like I was being treated like a kid, but hey, maybe it'd be fun. So we both walked out to the field and started to throw the Frisbee back to one another. Despite being ticked still, I enjoyed the game. I always was a big fan of outdoor activities, especially those that required some sort of skill.
"Heh, I guess being awarded captain of my school's track team wasn't for nothing." I mumbled to myself.
My mother then requested that I give her a more challenging throw, saying that she wanted to 'put her skills to the test'. In my mind I kind of rolled my eyes at that statement. I mean, come on, what skills? She's clearly out of shape, and she might even hurt her back if she dared jump higher than three feet. But, on the other hand, I kinda have to do what she says..... So I twisted the Frisbee in my hand and practically launched it across the field, and it actually ended up landing in some woods that I didn't even bother to notice until just then. I was about to go retrieve it, but as I started, a certain shade of rainbow appeared in the corner of my eye.
The doors to the Canterlot Castle slammed open, and Rainbow Dash flew through it and continued to the Celestia's throne. Followed by Twilight, Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy, Applejack and Rarity all galloping behind her. Once they got there and bowed to the princess, Twilight began conversation with one of her partners in royalty.
"Princess! We all came as soon as we heard, what's the situation?!"
"Thank you for coming, all of you." said the Princess, seeming quite relaxed.
Twilight was surprised by the fact that Celestia didn't want to take immediate action with whatever the problem was.
"I gathered you all her today because I needed a portal to be tested by one of you." exclaimed the Princess
"Oh, oh, oh! That sounds fun!" Pinkie chimed in, as soon as she heard 'portal'.
"Great, maybe this time I'll be the one going through it." Rainbow Dash responded sarcastically, remembering the two times there has been a portal involved with anything, Twilight was the one to go.
"Well, where exactly does this portal lead to?" asked Twilight, as curious as always.
"Well, do you remember when you had to go through the mirror portal to retrieve your crown from Sunset Shimmer? Well it turns out that worlds creatures were not actually humans, but just creatures that resembled humans in a big way."
The mane six all gasped at Celestia's words. "So does that mean you found the portal that leads to the real human world?!" Twilight asked, in shock that the friends that she made in the world thought to be inhabited by humans, weren't actually 'humans' at all.
"Yes, indeed I have, and I need a reliable pony to test it to make sure it isn't too dangerous to travel through. Preferably a Pegasus, since not even I know if somepony will end up two hooves above the ground, or as high as two thousand. But sadly Twilight, you can't go through it until we find a way to allow you to go through the portal without your link breaking. For if you went through it, your magical connection to Equestria would be broken, and you'll never be able to use your magic ever again."
"Don't worry Princess, I completely understand. So who will it be, Rainbow Dash or Fluttershy?" asked Twilight, looking over at the two.
"D-D-Dangerous?" said Fluttershy, being as frightened as ever.
"Don't worry Fluttershy, I'll test the portal. After all Danger is my middle name. 'Rainbow Danger Dash'!" said Rainbow Dash full of confidence, as always.
"Are you sure you want to do this?" asked Twilight, walking towards her with a concerned look.
"Twilight, have you even met me? I'm the bravest pony around!" Rainbow Dash boasted, thinking that Twilight was underestimating her totally awesome abilities.
"Twi' didn't mean it like that, Rainbow. She just wants to be sure ya know what yer' gettin' yourself into is all." said Applejack, with a reassuring smile on her face.
"Well, before you can go anywhere, there are a few things you need to keep in mind." the Princess intruded.
"Like what?" said Rainbow Dash, with some curiosity of her own.
"Well for starters, you will not turn into a human when you enter this world, you will remain as you are now. Second, the portal will only stay open for about two minutes. Once the portal closes, it will not reopen for a whole year." exclaimed the Princess.
Rainbow Dash's mouth was agape from not expecting to only have two minutes to get back to the portal once she landed on Earth.
"Do you understand he importance of your task?" asked the Princess.
Rainbow Dash regained her composer as best she could. "Y-Yes Princess! I understand fully just how cautious I must be, and I am ready for this mission!" said Rainbow Dash, in a voice that sounded as if she had just been given a spy mission from the military.
"Alright then, the portal will opening any moment now, we must hurry." said the Princess, who seemed to be in much more of a rush than earlier.
"One question, where is this 'portal' that you speak of?" asked Rarity, in confusion.
Then out of the blue, Princess Celestia used her magic to make a door appear in the middle of the room. They all walked in, figuring it'd be best not to ask and found that the room was much like the one with the mirror portal. At the end of the room, there was a portal getting bigger by the second.
"Are you ready, Rainbow Dash?" asked the Princess.
With the portal now at its maximum size, you'd just barely be able to put in two mares without them touching.
"Y-Yeah, I'm ready!" Rainbow Dash shouted, trying to hide the bit of nervousness inside her.
"Come back soon Dashie!" said Pinkie Pie, as 'nervicited' as ever.
With that, Rainbow Dash flew through the portal with a leap. Knowing fully of the dangers that lurked for her ahead. Or did she?
The perspectives of double
When I got through the portal, I felt a strange feeling in my body. I couldn't move, and I started plummeting towards the ground quickly. I couldn't regain control. I notice my more feint rainbow trail that I left behind. Thinking it meant my life in general was losing hope.

I turned towards the object that had caught my eye just seconds ago. Whatever it was, was leaving behind a rainbow trail as it flew-er, fell. I wasn't positive which one it was. Not so surprisingly, the first thing that came into my head was Rainbow Dash. I mean, she was my favorite out of all the mane six, I don't know what else could have possibly popped into my mind. I tried to think of something else that could possibly leave rainbows as it passes. But the thought quickly came back as I looked more closely at the source of the rainbow. I could see a body, four legs, and a certain shade of blue. Definitely along the lines of baby, sky or cyan. It was hard to tell from a distance and they're already so closely related as it is.
I suddenly found myself sprinting as fast as I could towards the object. Which by now, was certainly falling.

I was getting hundreds of hooves closer with every passing second. 'What a way to go down, and for the fastest flyer in Equestria of all ponies.' Rainbow Dash thought to herself, almost losing all hope of possible rescue.

It was getting pretty close to the ground now, probably just a few hundred feet. I started to worry, if by some magical way that thing that's falling was actually Rainbow Dash and I didn't catch her, she would probably die! These thought stormed through my mind, but they're quickly stopped as I find myself in position to catch whatever it was that was falling. I slipped my arms under what felt like a back, and then dived towards the ground to break its fall.

The ground was close now, too close for comfort. So I closed my eyes and waited for the worst. But then I felt something, it felt like there were arms going under my back. Then I hear a thud, followed by a short "-Mmph". Did I get saved? Or did I perish and leave the world surrounding me? I feel too dizzy to get up, dead or alive. Rainbow Dash thought to herself.

I looked at the thing I had just caught, not really knowing what to expect..... What I saw put me at a loss of words. I was fairly certain that this was either just a dream, or my eyes showing me what I probably wanted to see. My heart skipped a beat trying to process this. Lying there was a real, living, Rainbow Dash....

I felt like never moving again, even if I was truly still alive. But then I heard a voice, an unfamiliar voice at that.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
"A-Are you okay?" I asked, hoping for a response. Hoping that I was able to break her fall enough for her to survive. After a minute, I started to lose hope. But then I got the response I was hoping for. At first it was just a groan, but then she answered my question.
"Yeah.....I'm fine, I-I think." I looked up to see what had caught me. What I saw hurt my brain.. It was.... A human. Rainbow Dash was in shock that somebody who didn't even know her, had just saved her.
"Why are you here? On Earth?" Was all i could think to say, with my brain still in mix of weird emotions. She was now up on her four, slightly trembling hooves, and shook her head. "Y-You know this isn't Equestria.... Right?" I said that, hoping that she wasn't surprised by the fact that I knew all about - well, everything.
"Well, umm... You see, back where I'm from, we have princesses. One of those princesses needed a portal to be tested, and I volunteered to do that, which is a decision I'm regretting . But when I got here, I couldn't flap my wings and started to fall, and you know the rest I guess.... Wait, the portal!"
Once she said those words, she bursted up with the acceleration of flying cheetah on steroids. She flew straight upward and started heading for, well, what I can infer anyway, was a portal. Most likely a portal that leads back to her home, Equestria....

I could now see the portal, a few thousand hooves away now. But I could also see that it was looking smaller by the second! I pumped my wings even harder. "I have to make it back to that portal!" But then I see the waffle cone forming around me, getting more acute with every second. Which symbolizes that I'm getting close to performing the sonic rainboom. If I have to perform this to make it back to Equestria, I will! I push my wings just a little further, then I hear a big boom, nearly deafening me. But I don't bother looking back, all I can look at is what's right in front of me.
But then, it disappeared. It disappears and I zip past the spot where it once was. I slow down and come to a halt in mid-air.
"What am I going to do now?... I won't be able to see my friends for a whole year. Where will I stay? Where will I go? A whole year...." Rainbow Dash spoke out loud to herself full of sorrow, tears forming at the rims of her eyes.
What I saw only seemed to last a few seconds. It seemed like one second, Rainbow Dash was explaining why she was here, the next second she's flying towards, what I'm guessing was at least, a portal, then she performs the sonic rainboom overhead. Now though, she's gliding down to the spot where I am, with a heartbreaking look on her face. This fills me with worry. Did she not make it through the portal? Even going at her top speed of over mach ten? Impossible is what I was wanting to think, but she landed on the ground, and I looked at her, thinking of something to say. Finally I think of something that isn't stupid.
"Are you okay? Is the portal going to open back up anytime soon?"
"No, in fact its not going to open again for a whole year. I don't know what I'm going to do now, where I'll live for a temporary home, how to get food, or really anything." Rainbow Dash says, in a teary voice.
My mother was only a few feet away now, staring in awe at the cyan flying pony with a rainbow mane right in front of her.
"Hey mom?" I ask, with a small smirk involuntarily forming on my face.
"Uh...Yes Jake?" My mother said, struggling to cough up her words at all.
"You know how you said that the next decision that had to be dealt with, would go to me?" I ask, almost beginning to chuckle at this amazing timing.
"Yes, why?"
"Well, I've decided that Rainbow Dash will stay at our place until the portal reopens!" I say, practically smiling ear to ear.
"Really!?" asked Rainbow Dash excitedly.
"Of course! Who wouldn't give somebody as awesome as you, a place to stay?"
"Thank you! Oh thank you, thank you thank you! Your name is Jake right!?"
"Yeah, that's my name. Don't wear it out!" I reply sarcastically.
"Well then, thanks Jake!" Rainbow Dash replies, her tears of sadness looking as if they've turned to ones of happiness.
She brought me into a hug. It was a little awkward at first, since I know for a fact from the show that she's not much of a hugger. But, settling into It I realized that this is really happening... This is just another one of those moments in my life that I've always kept in my memory, as well as my heart.
