The Confession (Blaze)

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

"Hey Bliz. How'd it go? Did you pass?" Blaze greeted as the blue pegasus plodded towards the bed. Oh no. This couldn't be good news.
"Blaze, can I tell you something? I know you won't like it, but I have to tell you, somehow." Blaze was sure that he was going to say he failed. Not a surprise. But when he opened his mouth to speak again, he said,
"When I was staring at the goo, I had this really weird vision," Huh. So she wasn't the only one. "and then there was this strange little picture of us going through all of the pony cities together, but we were much older. Also, there weren't any changelings following us. It was nice, but, I, well..."
"Yes, yes, go on." Blaze encouraged Blizzard. She wanted to know what happened to him.
"Okay, I've REALLY wanted to say this. For a long, long time, but I never knew how. I..." Blizzard rambled on again.
"Come on, spit it out! It's late." Blaze was starting to wonder why he was being so nervous around her.
"FINE! I'VE ALWAYS THOUGHT YOU WERE PRETTY AND I HAD A HUGE CRUSH ON YOU BUT I NEVER COULD BRING MYSELF TO TELL YOU 'CAUSE I DIDN'T THINK YOU LIKED ME!! THERE! I SAID IT!" Blizzard screamed, probably loud enough for Chrysalis to hear. Blaze was astonished. Of course they loved each other, but more like siblings, even if they weren't biological. But still, knowing that Blizzard liked her in a different way... it was a lot to take in. All of a sudden, Blaze felt really awful for how she had acted. He was just a lonely guy with no one but an overdramatic unicorn to talk to. He didn't have any other friends at all, even the nicer changelings would all die very fast. And with Queen Chrysalis and Ruin around, niceness was becoming a crime in the changeling kingdom.

"Just forget what I said, okay?" Blizzard said a few minutes later. Blaze wanted to tell him too, but she wasn't as brave as Blizzard was. He slowly walked back to the makeshift bed, making every step feel like an eternity. Only until a couple minutes, Blaze jumped on the side of the prickly bed made of pine needles and leaves.
"I never should have said that in the first place. I knew you were into smart ponies, not like me. You deserve someone better than me."
Blaze couldn't take watching him in this condition anymore. She turned to meet his dark green eyes and said to him,
"You're wrong. No one is better than you, Blizzard. I wanted to tell you too, but I was too cowardly to say so. I don't want anyone else... I always wanted someone like you, who never gave up, no matter how hard the challenge. The truth is, I... love you too. In the same way."

And there they sat in silence, for a great fraction of the night, until Blizzard pulled her head in and kissed her, right on the lips.
