The King of Dragons

Spike smiled as he walked through the streets of Trottingham with the beautiful Octavia on his arm. They had been here a few days so far and if he was honest with himself she was a big difference that what he was normally used to in mares. She was calm, polite, and very professional when in public by herself.

But when behind closed door or with a loved one she was very affectionate. She and Spike had a blast going to dinner or just being with each other. Octavia seemed to be a beacon of calm in his crazy new life, with mares falling for him, a nation to bring back and not to mention the whole making babies thing.

"So Spike where would you like to go next?" She asked snuggling into his arm as he thought.

"Well why don't we head over to the movies? I hear they have a great couple of shows out right now. Buckbuster hits if I heard right." He suggested as she thought for a second.

"Sure I haven't been to the movies in years. Vinyl always yells at the screen when something is about to happen and just completely ruins the whole experience." She sighed as he chuckled.

"Ok hang on." He said scooping her up and taking flight to the otherside of town. That was another thing that he really liked about her, she LOVED to fly. She had been a bit shy to ask him if he would take her up the first few times when they would have had to walk all the way there or hail a carriage that was just to small for his size.

He could hear her sigh and relax into him fully trusting him to keep her safe as they went, he made sure to take it slow as they flew since he loved it almost as much as Rainbow did.

Before long the flight was over and the two landed in front of the movie theater and walked over to the side to see what movies were playing.

"So what do you want to see Octavia?" He asked as she looked over the movies.

"Hm? I don't know what do you want to see?" She asked as he shrugged.

"Last movie I saw was of the weather teams instruction movie." He said as she pat him on the arm.

"You never really got out much did you?" She asked as he chuckled.

"Not really when I was younger till I started hanging out with Vinyl, even then we just hung out at her place or went to clubs to party." He shrugged as she sighed.

"Well how bout we go to this one?" She suggested pointing to a poster that had a mare with her arms around two stallions laughing.

"Hm 'What is Love?', sure looks pretty good." He said wrapping his hand around her small one making her smile and lean into his side as they went to pay for the tickets as a blushing mare stared at Spike while Octavia gave a smug grin to her.

Once they were inside Spike grabbed the refreshments while she went and grabbed them a good spot inside. As he waited for their things a mare walked up beside him and ordered something while sneaking glances at him.

Spike noticed her looks and smiled and nodded to her before he grabbed their things and headed to meet with Octavia.

When he got into the theater he saw Octavia waving at him at the top of the stairs making him smile but he noticed some of the looks from a lot of mares even some that were with stallions.

"Here you go Tavs I got some hard rocks and a banana swirl smoothie." He said and looked back to see some of the mares still looking at him and some glaring at Octavia.

"Hey Tavs." He called to her making her look at him before she found herself on the end of searing kiss that made her moan into him as he ran his long tongue over hers, she wrapped her arms around him melting into the kiss before they had to pulled back for air.

'Sweet Celestia! I can hardly think right now.' She thought while panting as he winked at her and wrapped his arm around her pulling her into him as she tried to catch her breath.

"Wow! What was that for Spike?" She asked as he shrugged.

"Just because." He stated making her smile and melt into his side loving his scent and the warmth he was giving off in the cold theater.

All through the movie the two would tease the other back and forth hardly remembering the movie at all and before they knew it the lights came on and the credits were rolling.

Octavia looked over at her dragon who smiled down at her and stood up, pulling her up with him.

"Well my lady where would you like to go now?" He asked as they walked out of the theater throwing their things away before heading out into the street.

"Hm well it's only noon so why don't we get some lunch and then just walk around for a bit." She suggested as he nodded letting her lead the way to one of her favorite sandwich shops in town.

Spike smiled over at Octavia as they walked hand in hand still teasing each other here and there before she stopped and looked into a window to see a necklace that had a diamond musical note on it that matched her cutie mark perfectly.

"Oh my, thats beautiful." She gasped before she saw the price and nearly fainted.

"But not for 60,000 bits." She said as Spike smiled.

"Hmpf, that's probably why it's still on display." He remarked getting a nod from the mare.

"Indeed, now why don't we go get something to eat. I'm starving." She said as both of their stomachs growled.

"Lead the way my mare." He stated as she blushed and took his hand leading him through the gaggle of ponies.

The cafe that they were at was a small business that knew Octavia by name and knew what she wanted.

He had ordered and was waiting at their table for her since she had to use the restroom.

"Hello." He turned to see one of Rarity's friends Fleur de something. He smiled and nodded to her.

"Hello ma'am how are you? Can I help you with something?" He asked as she shook her head.

"No, you just looked very familiar. Have we met before?" She asked as he nodded.

"I was much smaller when we met, you were with Fancy Pants the last time I saw you. I was helping Rarity with her clothing line at the time when we crossed paths, I believe we literally ran into each other." He smiled as realization dawned on her.

"I remember now. Fancy and I were dating at the time until we called it off and decided to stay friends. What about you? Are you seeing anypony?" She asked as he smiled and pointed behind her.

"Yes he is." Fleur tuned to see Octavia standing there glaring.

"Hello Fleur." She said but Spike could hear the bite in her words as she said the mares name.

"Ah, hello Octavia." She replied while the two mares glared at each other.

"So I see you finally got yourself a stallion, about time if I must say." She smirked as Octavia growled.

"I see that you don't have some stallion following you around like a puppy this time around. What's the matter got bored of of your boy toys?" She asked as the other mare snarled.

"Are you trying to say something?" She asked her eye narrowed and her fist clenched.

"I think you heard what I said." Octavia smirked.

"It's not my fault that stallions find me attractive and only see you as some workaholic old mare." She snapped just when Spike stood up.

"Ma'am why don't you go sit at some other table. I'm on a date with my mare and would like some private time with her." He growled making Fleur back up and huff before looking at Octavia who was grinning from ear to ear. She glared at her before looking at Spike and smiled.

"Of course, but if you ever get tired of that nag you know where to find me." She said turning and walking away before he smiled and called out to her.

"I'm sorry but I don't associate myself with loose mares." He said as she looked back at him shocked while Octavia smirked and waved her away.

"You heard him Fleur, run along now." She said as the mare growled and walked out of the store.

Spike and Octavia sat down as she giggled and looked over at Spike smiling.

"Thank you Spike, that mare has been on my nerves since grade school." She sighed as he took her hand that was on the table.

"What happened for you two to be at each others throats like that?" He asked as she sighed.

"She's been jealous of me over my whole life, I was a honor student in school and went on to have an amazing career that I love. But all during middle school and high school she made it a point to make my life miserable, from bullying and stealing any stallions that I had a interests in." She sighed but smiled at him.

"But I'm glad she did now." She said watching him blush a little.

"Come on I'm not all that great." He replied while she shook her head.

"Don't sell yourself short Spike, you're a wonderful dragon and just with the short time I've been with you I can see you're a very loyal drake that would never hurt those that you're close to." She smiled watching him grin.

"Yeah, I guess so. But anyway tell me how you and Vinyl got to be friends." He asked while she grinned.

"Well we met in college a few years ago....."

(6 hours later)

Spike and Octavia sighed as they plopped down on the couch of their hotel room tired from the days events and walking around so much.

"Man I'm tired." He sighed only getting a moan from Octavia.

"Mmmhmm. My hooves are killing me, I'm going to go take a shower." She said getting up and turning to him pulling him into a sweet kiss.

"Thanks again Spike for the dates. I haven't had this much fun in ages." She said pulling back and heading into the bathroom leaving Spike smiling like a idiot.

'Seriously these mares have no idea what they do to me.' He thought with a sigh leaning back in the sofa.

"Spike could you come here please?!" He heard Octavia shout from the bathroom making his heart skip a beat as he got up and headed to the bathroom door.

"What is it Tav?" He asked through the door.

"I forgot a towel, could you grab me one please?" She asked as he gulped.

"Sure." He walked in and grabbed one of the towels out of the overhead cupboard before placing it on the toilet.

"There you go Tav." He said heading for the door.

"Thank you Spike, I'll be out in a few minutes." She said as he exited the room and took his place back down on the couch stretching out and put his arm over his eyes. He heard the door open and Octavia walk past him and to their room.

He took his arm off his eyes just as their door opened and she walked out in one of his large shirts that made him gulp.

"The bath is all yours Spike." She smiled at him as he nodded not able to take his eyes off her.

"Spike?" She called as he jumped a little and smiled.

"Right! Bath, got it." He said hearing her giggle watching him rush to the bathroom.

Inside the shower Spike sighed letting the water fall on his back letting out a groan feeling the sweat and grime wash away before he stepped out throwing on some shorts and walked out to see Octavia gone and the bedroom door opened.

He walked into the room and smiled seeing Octavia fast asleep on their bed with her mane fanned out above her.

'Wow.' He thought before he got a idea. Leaving a note he rushed out the hotel after changing heading downtown.

Octavia looked up to see Spike crawling into bed with her making her smile and wiggle her way over to him.

"Hey." She said as he froze and looked at her.

"Tav I'm sorry, I didn't mean to wake you up." He apologized throwing the cover over them while she turned and backed into his chest loving the feel of him so close to her.

'I could really get used to this.' She thought feeling his arm wrap around her and pull her closer making her smile wider.

"Goodnight Tav." He whispered as he kissed her behind the ear making her hum.

"Goodnight Spike." She said turning over and giving him a kiss before rolling back over and pulling his arm around her. It wasn't long before they were both sound asleep.

(That morning)

The train ride back was full of laughter as they told stories about some of their more embarrassing moments before they fell into silence with her between his legs on the small couch and her back to him, both sound asleep. Octavia woke up to find herself wrapped in Spikes strong grip making her smile and look up at her dragon.

'I really hope that we work out Spike, I really like you. I've never been treated so great before in my life.' She thought snuggling into him as she just looked around the cabin wide awake to go back to sleep but not feeling the need to move from Spikes warm hold.

It was a few more hours of her just enjoying him holding her before the door opened and in walked a mare pushing a cart with food and drinks on it.

"Hello ma'am." She whispered smiling at the two having spotting the still slumbering dragon.

"What can I get you two?" She asked being sure to keep quiet.

"Just a daisy soup for me and if you have it a egg and cheese omelet for him." Octavia whispered getting a nod from the mare as she set the food on the tray near them before easing out the room so not to wake Spike.

It didn't take long before Spike started to stir at the smell of food. He looked down to see Octavia finishing up her soup as he nuzzled her mane.

"Hey sleepy head." She smiled up at him setting her bowl down and grabbing his breakfast.

"Hey, how long have you been awake?" He asked as she shrugged while he let her sit up and turn to him.

"Here I ordered for you since you seemed to like the omelet on the train ride up." She said getting a smile from him.

"Thanks Tav. Oh and it has bacon in it to." He mentioned biting into the food.

Not long after Spike had finished his meal and Octavia was seated against him again but with a book in her hands while he read over her shoulder.

"So when's your next concert?" He asked out of the blue hearing her sigh.

"In a few days, it's in Las Pegasus." She said leaning back into him feeling his arms wrap around her stomach while a small smile came to her face.

"I see, do you want me to come?" He asked as she looked back at him in shock.

"You want to come to one of my concerts?" She asked as he nodded.

"Of course, why wouldn't I? I see how much you love your music and I want to see you in action." He said as she gave him a loving smile.

"Thanks Spike, but not for this one. I'll send you a ticket since it's already sold out, I'll be sure to get you in on the next one." She said feeling him pull her closer to him in a hug letting her know that he wasn't upset.

"Ok, next time then. I'll be sure to be there for you." He smiled down at her.

'I really did good in finding a stallion like him. No not a stallion but a noble dragon who would go to the ends of the earth for the ones he loves and cares for.' She sighed before wrapping her arms around his neck and pulling him down into a loving kiss.

(Ponyville)

Spike waved goodbye to Octavia after giving her a kiss and started to head home.

"Seru, I hope you were able to enjoy yourself while we were away." He said and turned the dragoness that landed beside him with a bag in her hand nodding.

"I never knew that ponies had so many interesting things to see and do. I've never been to a movie before now." She beamed as he chuckled.

"Well why don't you get some rest. It's still early so I'm going to head over to Derpy's house and see what she's up to." He said getting a nod from her.

"I'll have Akhe come and take my place to look over you." She said before taking flight just as a gray rocket slammed into him.

"HI SPIKE!" He looked down to see just the mare he was looking for hugging him around the waist.

"Hey Derpy I was just about to go looking for you." He said as the pegasus flew up to eye level with him giving him a peck on the cheek.

"Well I have the day off what do you want to do?" She asked flying up behind him and wrapping her arms around his neck.

"Well have you eaten yet?" He asked as she shook her head.

"Well come on lets go get breakfast, my treat." He stated getting smile from her.

"OK!"

The talked walked down the road with her tail wrapped around his while many a mare glared at her and looked at Spike with a longing look in their eyes while he seemed to pull her closer to him.

"Hey Spike." She said as he looked down at her.

"Hm?"

"Thanks for coming out with me and giving me a chance." She said as he smiled.

"Of course, your very special to me Derpy." He said as she blushed while she regretfully pulled away from him as he gave her a confused look.

"Spike I have to ask you something." She said as he nodded.

"Will you let me be one of your mares?" She asked looking down unable to meet his eyes and braced herself for the rejection.

"Ok. I was actually going to ask you out today myself but you beat me to it." He smiled watching her head whip up and looked into his eyes to see if he was lying.

When she realized that he was telling the truth she flew up and wrapped her arms around his neck and gave him a passionate kiss before pulling back and put her forehead to his with the biggest smile he's ever seen her with.

"Thank you Spike." She said as he grinned and held her closer to him giving her a loving kiss making her melt into him.

"Spike?" The two broke apart to see Rarity looking at them with a smile.

"Hey Rarity!" Spike said still holding Derpy.

"My, my, my Spike aren't you just positively beaming this morning." She said walking up to the two.

"What can I say, my life has been looking up since I got back." He said looking at Derpy who blushed.

"I can see that. Congratulations Derpy, he's a real gentle drake. Oh you two look cute together." She gushed making the new couple smile and blush.

"Thanks Rares. Was there something you needed, I was just about to take this beautiful mare out for breakfast." He stated grinning at the bashful look on Derpy's face.

"Thanks Spike." She mumbled as Rarity squealed.

"Oh you two are just so cute. Well anyway I don't want to keep you from your date, ta ta." She said hurried away leaving the two alone on the semi crowded streets.

"Why don't we go get some of Pinkie's muffins and head back to your place for a while." He suggested setting the mare down as her eyes lit up.

"Yes!" She smiled pumping her fist in the air hearing him chuckle while they made their way to the Corner.

Pinkie sighed as she gave another customer their order. She had been bored out of her mind the past few days with her dragon gone and really missed him. As if Celestia had heard her the dragon that's been on her mind walked through the door with Derpy leaning into his side.

Spike had just entered the and looked up to see Pinkie hopping the counter and rush up to him, she lept in the air as he reached out and plucked her out of the air as her arms went around his neck and her lips slammed into his.

Spikes eyes rolled into the back of his head as her scent rolled over him while he tightened his grip on her before they pulled back panting.

"Hi Spike, welcome home." She said as he set her down.

"Hey Pinkie, glad to be back. What did you do while I was gone?" He asked as she smiled leading them over to a empty table.

"Worked and hung out with all the girls. What did you and Tavi do?" She asked as he gave a fond smile.

"Got to know each other more, went on some walks through the town, had a few dates, watched a movie and I even got her a present." He smiled getting one from the two mares.

"That's really sweet Spike, when are you going to take me out?" She pouted a little before he leaned down pulling her into a kiss. Pinkie melted into him and moaned slipping her arms around his neck again before they pulled back.

"Sorry for putting it off for so long Pinks, how bout the next time you're off? Sound good?" He asked chuckling as her head bobbed up and down.

"Good now I have a starving beautiful mare that would like some muffins." He said smiling and winking over at Derpy who blushed.

"Ok, what kind to you want?" She asked pulling a note pad from her mane.

"Um blueberry please with nuts." She said as Pinkie nodded and looked at Spike.

"I'm good I had some breakfast on the train ride home." He said getting a nod from Pinkie.

"Okie dokie lokie, I'll be back in just a minute." She stated and headed back into the kitchen as Derpy smiled at him.

"You and Pinkie are really close huh Spike?" She asked as he smiled looking at the mare as she came back from the kitchen and winked at him getting one from him.

"Yes we are, she was one of my first real friends I had when I came here with Twilight and it just evolved from there. Just like our relationship has." He said smiling at her while she giggled.

"You're really sweet Spike." She said as a plate was set in front of her.

"There you go, that'll be 5 bits." She said as he pulled out the money handing them over to Pinkie.

"Thanks Spike." She said giving him a peck on the lips.

"You're welcome Pinks." He said as he pulled her back as she started to leave.

"Hey how bout we head out to Canterlot for our little date, I promise to make it worth your while." He whispered in her ear making her shiver.

"Deal. I'll hold you to it Spikey." She said before pulling away and getting back to work.

Derpy smiled at the two as she ate her breakfast as Spike turned to her and smiled at her making her blush and look down at her food.

'Oh man I can't even look at him without blushing like a little school filly, Dinky is going going to have a hard time even talking to him if she's as bad as I am.' She thought as she finished her last muffin.

"Well how bout we get out of here and just have a day to each other?" He suggested getting nod from her.

"Ok. What do you want to do now then once we get home?" She asked liking the way that sounded as he thought for a second.

"Well how bout we just chill at your place till it's time for lunch and then I'll think of something." He replied getting a nod from her as they stood and waved to Pinkie who was helping another customer that just walked in before heading to Derpy's house.

Spike sighed on Derpy's couch as the mare was sound asleep on his chest. The two had spent the day just taking and getting to know each other more before heading off to lunch at a high end restaurant that Rarity had treated him to when he was younger.

After that they had taken a walk through the park just enjoying each others company before getting tired and headed back to her house to rest. The two had fallen asleep with her snoring lightly on his chest while he ran his claw through her mane.

He looked up as the door opened and a tired looking Dinky walked in and froze when he spotted him on her couch.

"Shh." He said and pointed to her mother as she walked over to them.

"Hey Spike. What are you doing here?" She asked as he smiled.

"Well I spent the day with Derpy on a date and we ended up crashing on the couch." He whispered as she nodded.

"Hey Spike could I ask you something?" She asked tapping her pointer fingers together.

"Sure, what's up?" He asked looking down at Derpy as she snuggled into him more mumbling his name.

"Um would it be ok with you if we went out?" She asked as his head snapped over to look at her shocked.

"What? Really? I didn't know that you liked me like that Dinky." He said as she blushed.

"Well I've liked you for a while now but I've just been scared to ask you out. So what do you think?" She asked shaking a little hoping and praying that he would say yes.

"Sure, it'll be fun." He said watching her head snap up to look at him with beaming smile.

"REALLY!?" She shouted making Derpy pop up and look around before spotting Dinky and smiled.

"Hey muffin." She said laying back down on Spike as he continued to run his claws through her mane lulling her back to sleep before he looked back over at Dinky and smiled.

"Really." He whispered as the young mare squealed latching onto his neck kissing his cheek.

"Thanks Spike." She said before rushing upstairs to do her homework as he chuckled waking up the sleeping mare on his chest.

"Mmm, what time is it?" She asked as he looked back at the clock above the door.

"About four, why?" He asked as she sighed.

"I need to go get dinner ready. You want to stay for dinner?" She asked as he smiled and rolled over so he was above her watching as a blush crept onto her face.

"Why don't I make dinner for you and Dinky. You just relax and let me handle everything." He said getting up leaving a panting mare who watched him head into the kitchen as Dinky came down and saw Spike starting to fix dinner.

"Hey muffin." Derpy called over to Dinky as the young mare tore her eyes from the hunk of a dragon in their kitchen and looked at her mother.

"Hey momma, so I take it that Spike is staying for dinner?" She asked looking back into the kitchen as he concentrated on preparing their meal.

The two looked up as they heard Spike start to sing to himself never having heard the song before but smiled listening to him.

"I can feel it coming in the air tonight, oh Tia, and I've been waiting for this moment for all my life, oh Tia. Can you feel it comin' in the air tonight? Oh Tia, oh Tia." The smooth sound of his voice had the two mares swaying from side to side as he continued to sing before stopped humming the rest of it while the mares grinned at him.

"What was that song Spike, I've never heard it before?" Dinky asked as he looked over at them and blushed.

"Sorry I kind of lost myself there, but the song was 'Phili Canters' he's a up and coming artist that I heard before I came back home." He said rubbing the back of his head.

"You got a really nice voice Spike, I never knew you sang." Derpy said watching his face get redder.

"Well I only do it when I'm cooking or cleaning, things like that." He said bashfully as he grabbed two plates handing them over to the mares before grabbing his own and joining them while they swapped idle small talk.

After they were done Spike gathered their plates washing them and putting them in the rack to dry before he looked at the clock surprised at how late it already was.

"Well ladies, it's been fun and I had a great time today Derpy. But I need to get home before it gets to much later." He said heading to the door before Dinky called out to him.

"Why don't you stay Spike?" She asked looking at her mother who nodded.

"I don't want to impose on you girls." He said as Derpy got up and took his hand guiding him back to the couch.

"Please, I insist. You can you our shower for tonight and I'll wash your clothes for tomorrow." She offered as he sighed and smiled looking back at the door.

"I just can't say no to your girls I swear." He said getting two beaming smiles from the mares.

"Well I'll take the couch for tonight and-"

"NO!" The two shouted making him jump.

"You can sleep with me Spike, the couch isn't that great to sleep on. It's really bad for your back." Dinky said looking over at her mother who sighed and nodded getting a smile and hug from her daughter.

"Ok, well I'm going to take a shower and I'll walk with you to school before heading over to Applejacks to help with with the farm." He said getting a nod from them before he headed upstairs leaving the two mares alone.

Derpy looked over at her daughter with a stern glare surprising her a little and backed away.

"No funny business Dinky, I know that you asked him out today but that doesn't mean that you can have sex on the same night." She growled as the younger mare nodded but rolled her eyes.

"Mom don't worry so much, I'm only just now really getting to know the guy. I'm not just gonna bend over for him. Besides Spike isn't the kind for guy that would ever try anything like that on the first night." Dinky said getting a nod from Derpy.

"That's true but you're still my daughter and I worry." She said getting a nod from Dinky as she pulled her mom into a hug.

"I know mom, I think we're just lucky to find a guy like Spike to try to move on with." She said getting a nod from Derpy as she returned the hug.

Later Spike was setting up a bed on Dinky's floor when the mare walked in and gave him a confused look.

"What are you doing?" She asked making him jump and spin around to see her looking at him.

"Just setting up my bed for the night." He answered and continued to set his bed up before he was pushed onto Dinky's bed.

"Don't be dumb, you're sleeping with me." She said blushing hard as she looked at the shirtless dragon in front of her.

"Are you sure that's ok Dinky? I don't want to make your mom think I was trying to make a move on you." He said but couldn't help but stare at her. She was in a loose tanktop and short shorts with her mane down and two locks framing her face.

"Mom knows that you won't try anything and I trust you so hurry up and clean this up then come to bed." She ordered as he saluted making her giggle.

"And hurry up, I'm ready for bed." She yawned watching him pick up the blankets and head downstairs.

Dinky let out a calming breath as she fell back onto her bed pulling the covers up over her and waited for Spike.

It wasn't long before he came back in and climbed into bed with her wrapping a arm around her making her blush feeling the muscles around her before she wiggled a little closer to him. She was shaking a little since she never had a boy over before, like EVER and she was more than a little nervous.

She pulled the covers down and clapped her hands making the lights turn off and covered back up.

"You ok Dinky?" He asked feeling her shaking.

"I'm fine Spike, um could you hold me a little closer?" She asked and felt him pull her closer to him feeling his warmed that seemed wash away her nervousness as she sighed happily.

"Goodnight Spike." She said snuggling into her dragon.

'Yeah, I like the sound of that. I could really get used to it.' She thought as he nuzzled her neck making her shiver.

"Night Dinky." He yawned pulling her even closer as they quickly fell asleep.
