Chapters It seemed like a normal morning. I was about to find out that it wasn't. I was awake, but I didn't want to be. If only I could just get a little more sleep, but once I'm awake, there's no going back. I opened my eyes, and I find that I'm lying on the ground, looking up at the blue sky. I have no idea what I'm doing here. I rack my brain trying to remember something, anything from the previous night, that might explain why I'm here, but nothing comes to mind. In fact, I can't remember anything from yesterday. I seem to laying on something that isn't very comfortable. (besides grass) I sit up, and reach behind me, and I can't feel my fingers. I bring my hand around, and I decide that this must be some sort of LSD trip. Instead of a hand, there's a hoof. I feel my back again, and, sure enough- wings. So that's what I was laying on. I think this is the point at which I'm supposed to go crazy, and find me some mental help. Somehow, and I can't possibly fathom how, but somehow, I have woken up in Ponyville. As a pegasus, no less. I'm a brony, so, at the same time as it is mind-blowingly awesome, my mind is just shutting down from shit not making sense. LSD trip or not, I'm a pony. I should probably get used to walking around on all fours. Now that that's outta the way, I gotta figure out where the hell I am. Suddenly, quite from nowhere a pegasus pony comes out of nowhere and comes speeding at me.
"What the-", is all I have time to yell, because I am tackled and pinned down by Rainbow Dash.
"Oh, uh, hello. I thought you were someone else.", she said, getting off me.
"Well, I don't know who you mistook me for, but I'm...", here I thought that maybe my name would be a little weird, so I decided to use my OC's name instead. "...Cobalt Night", I said, offering a hoof.
"Cobalt Night, huh? Are you new around here? Name's Rainbow Dash, by the way. I haven't seen you around here.", she said, shaking my hoof.
"Actually, it's a long story, that.", I said, sitting down. As she sat down beside me, I told her my story, not that there's much to tell, but I told it.
"So, you have absolutely no idea how you got here?", she asked, confused. "No idea.", I confirmed. I still really had no idea, why I was here, or, more importantly, how it's even possible for me to be here. "This sounds like magic, some sort of magic that only my friend Twilight would know."
"Well, what are we waiting for? Let's go figure out who decided to mess around with my morning.", I said, eager to get out of here.
"I didn't want to rush you, you wouldn't be able to keep up with me. I am the best flyer in all of Equestria, you know."
Don't say anything, don't say anything! I thought to myself.
* * * * * * * *
While we flew to Twilight's library, Rainbow told me about how a portal had opened up between Earth and Equestria.
"Maybe it has something do with why you're here.", she suggested.
"I don't think so. I can't remember a thing from yesterday. Also, I kind of just... appeared here, but other ponies and people came out of the portal, according to your story, so that can't be it."
"Right..."
We flew until we reached Twilight's treehouse. I stood there for a moment, admiring it.
"It's smaller than I expected.", I observed. It was smaller than I had imagined. I had expected it to be this big, hulking mass of a tree, but it's just about the same size as any of the other trees.
"Ha ha, just wait 'til you see how many books are inside it."
We went up to the front door, and Rainbow knocked. Almost instantly, the door opened, seemingly on it's own.
"Hey, Rainbow Dash. Who's your friend?", said a voice.
I looked down, and I saw who had opened the door. It was Spike, Twilight's... erm- assistant.
"Oh, him? He's...", she scratched her head. "Uh, what was your name again?"
"Cobalt Night", I said, looking at Spike. "And I'm lost, I have no idea why I'm here, and Rainbow Dash thinks Twilight can help."
"Right, what he said", said Rainbow Dash, going inside.
"Okay, then, Cobalt. I'll go get Twilight and then we'll try to sort out your little problem", said Spike as he went to fetch Twilight.
As I waited, I noticed the large number of books. I mean, from watching the show, I knew she read a lot of books, but seeing it in person is a completely different thing.
"I think you were right about the books.", I laughed, taking in the sheer number of books.
"What did I tell you? Twilight is Queen of the Eggheads."
"But, Rainbow Dash, I thought you liked reading now?", said Twilight, as she came down the steps.
"Uhh, I do. But only the Daring Do series, because they're cool, and Daring Do is awesome and brave and fearless, just like me!", she said, flying into the air as she said so.
"So, is this Cobalt Night?", Twilight asked.
"Yeah, that's me.", I said.
"My name is Twilight Spark-", she stopped rather abruptly, and got a good look at me.
"What? What're you staring at me for?", for she was now staring at me.
"It's you. You're here."
Conversation With Twilight
"What do you mean, 'It's you?' You don't even know who I am!" I shouted, confused.
"It was one day when I was on a secret mission for the princesses, and I traveled through time into the future. I still can't tell anypony what I saw, but I did see you."
"Okay? You saw me. Didn't you see a lot of ponies? What makes me so important?", I asked her, still confused.
"You were..." she trailed off, obviously thinking. "You were an important pony. Somepony that I would need to keep track of.", she said, clearly having difficulties trying to keep it secret.
I looked at Rainbow Dash. She shrugged. "When you say that I was somepony you'd need to keep track of, is that in a good way, or a bad way.", I asked, hoping that I didn't become a bad guy in the future.
"I can't tell you. It's the future. I can't interfere with it." she said, but the expression on her face said it all. What things could I possibly end up doing in the future that make me such a bad pony?
"Wait, why can't you tell me? I don't know much about time travel, actually."
"It's really complicated stuff, let's just call it 'wibbly-wobbly-timey-wimey stuff', okay?", she said, looking at me again. "Wait a second, when I saw you in the future, you were a Unicorn", she said, confused. "But, right now, you're a Pegasus."
Maybe she didn't see me, then. Maybe it was somepony else who looks like me.
"Heh, maybe he was an alicorn, Twilight!", Rainbow said, laughing.
"No, he didn't have any wings. He couldn't have been an alicorn..." she trailed off again, in deep thought.
This is quite confusing. How could I end up losing my wings, and end up with a horn? I mean, it's not like ponies can be both a Unicorn and a Pegasus but not an alicorn, right? I decided to ask Twilight that.
"Well, there have been a few ponies that can change between being a Pegasus and a Unicorn, but that's extremely rare. They would be able to change forms just by thinking about it."
Just by thinking about it, huh? I decided to give it a try. I concentrated hard, and imagined myself with a horn, instead of wings.
Suddenly, I heard Twilight gasp. "You-you just..."
Yep, I think it worked.
"You look funny!" said Rainbow Dash, trying to hold back laughter.
"Gee, thanks." I said sarcastically. I concentrated on turning back into a pegasus, and I after a few seconds, I could feel my wings, which I still couldn't use.
"Interesting..." said Twilight, who then came to look at my cutie mark, which I then hid with my wing. She used her magic to move my wing out of the way.
"Huh. You don't have a cutie mark. That's very odd..."
"Ah, yeah, that's a long story" I said, not wanting to have to tell the whole story again.
"Don't worry, I've got plenty of time.", she said, getting comfortable.
So, I told her the story, of how I'm actually a human, how I got here, that I have no idea how I got here, and how I don't remember anything about my life from before. When I was done, Twilight looked very confused.
"So, you have no idea?" Twilight asked for the third time.
"No idea", I said again.
"Well, until you get used to being a pony, you're gonna need a place to stay."
"I got that covered!" Rainbow Dash said, smiling. "You can totally stay at my place! It's the coolest place ever!" she said.
"Uh, Rainbow?", Twilight asked, staring at Rainbow. "He's a human, so he's not really going to know how to fly." she pointed out.
"I can teach him, duh! I'm the best flyer in all of Equestria. You think I wouldn't be able to teach him?", she said. Twilight looked at Rainbow Dash, then back at me. She stared at Rainbow Dash for a second, who chuckled, and then blushed. Ah, shit. She better not be blushing because of me.
"Alright, as long as you teach him how to fly.", Twilight agreed.
"AW YEAH! This is going to be so awesome!" Rainbow said, beaming. "Time to go see my place, and where you're going to be staying, roommate!", she said to me, excited.
"Um, Rainbow?", Twilight said. "He... can't fly?"
Rainbow rolled her eyes. "Yes, Twilight, I know that already, jeez! I'm going to fly him up there!", she said, grinning. I gave her a look that said 'are you crazy?'
"Don't worry, it'll be fine!", she said to me.
It'll all be fine?
"Okay, fine, but if anything goes wrong, I'm blaming it on you!", I said, not in the mood for any more problems today.
Author's Note
Sorry this took me so long to finish, guys.
Rainbow Dash and I left Twilight's treehouse, ready to head to her place, which was fine by me, because I needed some sleep. I was still trying to get used to being a pony. Walking on all fours wasn't a problem, I just couldn't wrap my head around the fact that I was now a pony. I'm still having trouble believing that this is actually happening! While we were walking, she was asking me all sorts of questions, about my life back home, what being a human was like, and all sorts of questions like that.
Rainbow Dash stopped walking, and I almost walked right into her. "Hey, watch it!", she said, turning around.
"Sorry", I said sheepishly.
"Ah, it's fine.", she said, smiling. "So, I'm gonna fly you up there", she said pointing up at, what appeared to be a cloud, but what was obviously was her place. I wasn't really able to see it that well from where I was standing.
"How do I know you're not gonna drop me by accident?", I asked her, though, I was joking, as I had watched the show, and seen that she was a very good flier, so I was just kidding her.
She gave me a look of disbelief. "You mean you've never heard of Rainbow Dash? The pegasus who won the Best Young Flier competition?", she asked me, pointing at herself, obviously indicating that she was the winner of the Best Young Flier competition. I was trying to hold back laughter, but I've never been good at that.
"What?", she demanded to know, after I had started laughing.
"I know who you are. I know you were the winner of the Best Young Fliers competition, I was pranking you", I said, laughing the entire time, which probably made it difficult for her to understand what I was saying.
"Oh. Heh, that's a good one. You got me good, Cobalt!", she said, falling over, laughing. We both laughed for a while, and then we got back up, and she got ready to fly me up to her place.
"You ready, Cobalt?", she asked me, grabbing on to me, and I got on her back, ready to fly.
"Yep. Just remember, if anything goes wrong, I'm blaming it all on you.", I told her, repeating what I had said earlier.
She rolled her eyes at me. "Nothing's gonna go wrong, I'm the best flier in all of Ponyville, no, scratch that, best in all of Equestria!", she said, taking off.
I used to have a fear of heights. I don't now, but this was pretty damn high. Being a pegasus now, I can't really have a fear of heights, that kind of makes it pointless to be a pegasus. She flew higher and higher, until I was able to see what her place looked like. It had a lot of architecture that reminded me of what I had seen of Greek architecture.
"Nice place", I said, taking in the rainbow coming off of the top of it, and looking all around. It was a pretty big place. I gotta say, it was a pretty nice place.
She smiled as we landed on a cloud. I was a bit skeptical that I wouldn't fall through the cloud, but I landed on it, and I didn't fall through it, so I guess I didn't have to worry about that.
We walked into her place, and I admired everything about it, there was more of the greek-style architecture that I really like, it was very big on the inside, possibly bigger on the inside, light blue, and rainbows everywhere. It was, overall, a pretty sweet looking house.
I looked at Rainbow Dash. "So, where am I gonna be sleeping?"
She looked around, obviously not prepared to have someone over. "Erm, you can sleep in my bed?" She said "I usually sleep on a cloud, anyway. They're better for sleeping on than a regular mattress."
I nodded, thankful. I was definitely going to need lots of sleep after today. I woke up in Equestria, not remembering any of my past, was now a pony, and there was some sort of mystery involving me and what I'd end up doing in the future. I still wasn't sure what Twilight had meant. Was I going to be some sort of evil pony in the future? I laughed. That was impossible. I thanked Rainbow Dash, then told her I was going to catch some shut-eye. She said that she was feeling tired, too, and she flew up, and she curled up in a cloud, and started to go to sleep. I went over to the bed, and laid down. I wasn't able to get to sleep right away, and I was still troubled over what Twilight said. I thought about it for a while. I came up with a million different theories, but each of them I discarded, almost as soon as I came up with them. I just couldn't figure it out. After a while of this, I eventually became tired. I figure that all that thinking must've tired me out. I remember thinking that maybe Twilight's just crazy. I then fell into a deep sleep, as darkness overcame me. I also had a rather weird dream.
As usual, my sleep was not dreamless. I didn`t know where I was, but I was with Rainbow Dash, and Applejack. From what they were saying, we were obviously making... battle plans. "Battle plans for what?" I felt like asking, but I couldn't talk in this dream. "Great, one of those dreams." I thought to myself. This could be something that happens in the future, which would explain why they were acting like we were all old friends. Apparently, the two sides of this battle were led by Luna and Celestia, respectively. The Solar Empire, and The New Lunar Republic, and we were on Luna's side. Of course, I had no idea why they were fighting, but I probably don't want to know, if it's enough to make the princesses want to go to war. Our side had most of the pegasi on our side, and some of the earth ponies. There were also a few unicorns, but not many. Apparently, I had also been made the second-in-command of the Lunar Republic's forces, with Rainbow being the leader, other than Princess Luna herself, of course.
Suddenly, the dream changed, and I was out somewhere, and I didn't know exactly where, but I was somewhere in Ponyville. There were ponies all over the place, fighting each other. All discord had broke loose. Ponies were dead, dying, about to die, bleeding, missing wings; it was horrible. Suddenly, I saw myself, as if I was watching from somepony else's perspective. I looked terrible. I was bloody, and once again, I was a unicorn. Suddenly, my horn started to glow, and it kept getting brighter, and brighter, until it became blinding. There was a loud noise, like an explosion, and there was a bright white light. When the light went out, all the ponies that I could see were dead. I looked at the me I saw in the dream, he was looking grim.
"This is what I have to do..." he said, looking down at all the dead ponies. "Now I only need to..." was all I heard him say, as the dream shifted again. This time, when the dream shifted, I was at the Carousel Boutique. I was waiting for Sweetie Belle, for some reason.
Sweetie Belle appeared looking worried, and said "Rarity's not here..."
I felt worried, and I asked her "Where is she?" She frowned, and it was then that I noticed the tears in her eyes. "Sweetie Belle, what is it? What's wrong?"
"Rarity. She's not here. She's been missing for a week now..." is all I heard Sweetie Belle say, before the dream went black.
At this point, I woke up, and my forehead was covered in sweat. I put my hooves to my face, wiping the sweat from my face as I did so. I noticed that it was very hot in this room, which was why I was sweating, as opposed it being because of the dream. The dream only made me even more confused as to what Twilight had seen in the future. Those scenes could've been the exact same thing that Twilight saw in the future. Then again, it could simply have been a dream. I decided to go back to sleep, as I was pretty tired. I decided that this whole mystery could wait until tomorrow, after I had gotten some sleep, and maybe eaten. I laid back down, and quickly fell back asleep.

Sorry that this chapter was so short everyone.
And that it took so long.
:I
Another Interesting Morning
After having that dream, the rest of my night was dreamless. When I woke up, I was having difficulty remembering the dream. I tried to remember the dream, but I couldn't remember most of the details. There were a few things here and there that I was able to remember, but the harder I tried to remember, the more the details slipped from my mind.
I looked outside, and saw that it was morning. What time in the morning, I had no idea. I got up, and I stretched for a bit. I yawned. I slowly remembered the events of yesterday, and I realized, once again, I was now a pony. Somehow. Magic was the obvious answer, but I still wasn't entirely sure if this was a dream, or some weird LSD-induced acid trip, or what it was. I felt an itch on my back, and I remembered I had wings. I looked around to stare at my wings, and I still had no idea how to fly.
"Yeah, great use these things are." I said, as I grabbed at my useless wings. I decided that I should probably figure out how to fly, or at least to try to. I left the room, and wandered around until I found my way outside. Once I was outside, I decided to find something I could jump off of, and maybe get some momentum. I wasn't going to jump off the cloud that the house itself rested on, as that was a huge drop, and if I messed up, that would be a long fall. Out of morbid curiosity, I suppose, I walked over to the edge of the cloud, and I looked down at the ground, just to see how far down it was. It was pretty far down. "Far" was an understatement, as everything was a bit blurry. For some reason, as if by instinct, I crouched down, like I was about to be in a race. I had no idea what I was doing, yet it felt completely normal, like I had done it before. I pushed off the cloud, jumping into the air, and extending my wings, and for a moment, I was flying. Then, as I started thinking about what I was doing, flying turned to falling. I then began falling through the air. Seeing how fast the ground was coming up at me, I did the only thing that was logical for a person who was falling, likely to their death. I screamed at the top of my lungs. I saw Rainbow Dash up on the cloud that she was sleeping, as she began to fly down toward me, to rescue me from falling to my death. I turned around, to face the ground, and I tried to start flying again, flying hard and fast towards the ground. I started to gain speed, and I started to gain control over my flying.
"Tch, I don't need Rainbow Dash to come to my rescue." I said, grinning, as my instinctual flying skills came from nowhere again, and I had both of my front hooves extended in front of me. I started to gain speed, and the wind in my face was almost too much to handle, but just then I heard a loud gasp somewhere behind and above me. At that moment, I broke the sound barrier, and I did a sonic rainboom. When I looked behind me after hearing a loud bang sort of noise, there was the telltale coloured shockwave of a Sonic Rainboom, except that instead of being rainbow coloured, it was all different shades of blue, and some bluish-green colours. I laughed as I sped towards the ground, and pulling up right before I would have hit the ground. I was enjoying this feeling of the wind in my face, and after eventually slowing down, I flew back up to where Rainbow was, as I was apparently not having any difficulty with flying now.
"How... you... what!?" She looked at me in awe.
"I have no idea. Apparently, I know how to fly." I shrugged, just as confused as she was.
"That... was... awesome! The only other pony who's ever done that before was me!"
"Hey, you're pretty cool, Cobalt." She said, grinning. Obviously, my sudden ability to fly really well impressed her, I guess. I still had no idea how I was able to do that. It was pretty cool, but I've never had wings before.
"I still have no idea how I was able to fly..." I said, still confused as ever.
"Well, try to figure it out again!"
I decided to give the whole flying thing another shot. This time, I tried not to think about it as much as I did before. I only thought about it a little, just enough to make sure I didn't end up flying into anything. Once I was in the air, I was having a blast. This was the most fun I've had in... ever, actually. I flew around for a while, going around, above, and below the cloud that Rainbow's place was on. After flying around for a while, I landed back on the cloud.
"That was fun. I'm gonna do that more often." I said, laughing.
"Hey, maybe we could have a race sometime!" she said, grinning.
"Nah, I'd win way too easily! I'll have finished the race, and you'll be halfway done!" I said back to her.
"Ha! You forget that I won the Best Young Flier Competition! I'm the best flier in Ponyville!" She said, convinced that I wasn't going to be able to beat her.
"Well, you're lucky I wasn't in that competition, or I'd have won, instead of you!"
"Oh, really?" She said, now giving me a competitive stare. "Then how about we race now?"
"Right now?" I laughed. "Yes, let's do this!" I said, excited for a little competition.
"Alright. First one to Twilight's place wins!" She said, getting ready. "No cheating" She said after.
"Can't make any promises." I said, grinning.
On the count of three, we both took off and started to fly towards Twilight's place. I decided that I was going to play fair. At least, as long as she did.
