Star Blaze the Assassin

15 years before the events of Season 1 Episode 1 in the city of Canterlot.

'I knew about the war between the Assassins and Templars since i was just a little colt. I knew before my little sister Shining Star was born. We both knew. Mom and Dad began teaching us as soon i was able to walk and talk. When we turned seven, we began the physical part of the training. We were both awesome at it. I could not imagine life any other way. On my eleventh birthday, Dad told he was going to take us both to the local Assassin's bureau. Unfortunately, this was not meant to be.'

I was in my nice warm bed, dreamiong of the day i became an Assassin. My sister Shining burst in and yelled "Big borther! Big brother, Wake up!"

"Ugh. What time is it?" i asked. It was still dark outside.

"Star Blaze, we have to get out of here. The whole house is on fire" Shining said.

"What!? Where are Mom and Dad?" i asked.

"Mom and Dad are already dead. Rather they've been murdered. There's blood everywhere in their bedroom. I think the fire is to cover up the murder" Shining said.

"I think you're right" I said.

Without another word i ran to Mom and Dad's room. I found Mom lying in a pool of blood on her bed. "Don't worry Mom, i'll make sure you have a proper burial" i said.

"Blaze, what are you doing with Mom's body?" Shining asked.

"I'm going to bury her in the park. I refuse to let her body burn" i replied.

We ran down the hall into the living room. Parts of the ceiling had already come down and the flames were growing as tall as the house was.  I ran towards the door and broke through the door with ease. Me and Shining both ran out of the house just as the roof of the house completely collapsed. A crowd had already gathered on the other side of the street.

"Where is Dad's body?" I asked.

"I looked everywhere but i couldn't find him anywhere. I think whoever killed him must have taken his body" Shining replied.

"We'll worry about that later. Right now, we have to bury Mom" i said.

As we walked by, the ponies bowed their heads in respect. We walked down the street to the park. Upon entering the park, We walked to the nearest tree. I set Mom down and began to dig a hole. "What are we going to do without Mom and Dad?" Shining asked.

"I don't know. I just don't know" I said. I finished digging and i picked Mom up one last time and me and Shining gave her one last hug. I then lay Mom down in the hole. "May you find peace in the next life. And though our time together was short, we will love you always. Rest in peace Mom" I said. I moved the pile of dirt over Mom with tears streaming down my face. I then hugged Shining for what felt like forever.

After five minutes, a royal guard walked up to us."Did you two just come out of the burning house" he asked.

"Yes" I replied.

"Come with me. I'll take you to your new home" the guard said.

"What about our house?" Shining asked.

"There is no more house. The house has completely burned down. It is just a pile of rubble now" the guard answered.

"So where are you taking us?" I asked.

"To the New Life orphanage" the guard said.

The walk over to the orphanage was deadly silent. Nopony said one word the whole way. After walking four miles to the orphanage, we finally made it. We walked up the stairs to the front door. The guard knocked on the door and the head matron promptly answered.

"Welcome to New Life orphanage. How may i help you tonight?" she asked.

"These foals' house just burned down and both parents are dead" the guard said.

"Say no more. We'll gladly take them in" the matron said.

"Thank you kindly. You all have a nice night" the guard said as he left.

Me and Shining walked inside wondering how long it would be before we had a new home and a new family. The matron slamming the door hard snapped us out of our thoughts. "You all think it will be all rainbows and butterflies don't you? Well, i got news for you, it's not. When i'm through with you two, i'll make you wish you were never born. Star Blaze, Shining Star, Welcome to Hell" she said.

'How does she know are names? Just what is going on here?'

My thoughts were interrupted by the evil nasty matron grabbing us by the hoof and leading us into the mouth of hell.

1 Year Later

'Me and my sister have been living in this hell-hole called New Life for a year now. The conditions in here are horrible. Pieces of the ceiling come down every day, usually with mold on them. What little food we do get is either undercooked, spoiled or has bugs in it. Our only time in the sun is one hour of recreation a day. We are only let out of our rooms to eat and for rec time. The rest of the time we spend locked in our rooms. I have been planning our escape since day one. And tonight i launch my plan.'

"Hey, big bro" Shining said snapping me back to reality. " Are you ready for tonight?" she asked.

`"Yes, tonight the evil witch will die. After the matrons call for bedtime, i will kill her while you and the other foals keep her minions distracted" I said.

"Alright. I'll let the others know" Shining said.

Later that night

I paced back and forth going over the plan last time. While the Shining and the other kept the other matrons distracted, i would take the knife i been making for months and kill the evil head matron Black Rose. The sun had set now and i stood by the door waiting for the signal. After about ten minutes of waiting, i heard the screams of the other foals attacking the matrons and sending the orphanage into complete chaos. I walked out of my room and began the walk up the stairs that would lead me to Black Rose's room. When I reached the third floor i heard Black Rose talking to a couple of other matrons down the hall. I took cover in a closet and listened to her.

"Get downstairs and find out who is responsible for this little riot. I swear if it's that colt or his sister, they will not live to see tomorrow" she said.

'You monster. I'll make sure you do not see tomorrow.'

The other matrons ran down the stairs while Black Rose went up to her room on the fourth floor. She went into her room and locked the door behind her.

You will not deter me so easily you witch.

Noticing an open window, i climbed out of it and climbed my way towards Black Rose's window. Her window was also open so i snuck in and found Black Rose sleeping in her bed. I slowly walked over to her and raised my knife to end her wretched life. When i was right next to her, she punched me right on my nose. I dropped my knife as I fell flat on my back.

"Think i didn't know this was going to happen? I knew you would eventually try to kill me. But you are not because you are just an insigificant little colt that dreams of being an Assassin. Yes, i know exactly who you are, Star Blaze. The son of the well known Assassin, Falling Star" she said.

"How do you know about me? How do you know about my father?" I asked.

"Ain't it obvious? I am a Templar. In fact, I'm Equestria's Grand Master, which makes me your father's greatest enemy" she said.

"So you ordered the murder of Mom and Dad, and our house being burned down?" I asked.

"Yes, and since it's obvious that you and your sister will be a problem, I have no choice but kill the both of you" she said.

"You keep your filthy hooves off her !" I yelled as i got back up and charged at her.

She knocked me back down with just one swing off her hoof.

"So hasty and so arrogant, just like your father. Your talent is wasted with these Assassins. You could be so much more. Join the Templars, you and your sister, and together we can create a new world" Black Rose said.

"I'll never join you!" I yelled, firing off a magic blast. She got of the way of course.

"Such power gone to waste" she said.

I picked up my knife and charged at her again. This time, i succeeded in hitting her. She slammed against the wall, stunning her for a moment. I immediately stabbed her with my knife over and over again, about twenty times. Taking a couple steps back, I dropped the knife and bent over to catch my breath. Black Rose fell to the floor into a pool of her own blood. I turned her over and said "Your tyranny has come to an end. May everypony that you tortured find peace now. Rest in Peace." I closed her eyes and stood up. I walked out of the room and proceeded down the stairs. As continued down, the sounds of fighting grew louder. In no hurry, i walked down to the first floor to find that everypony was cheering. They had set fire to the orphanage and the other matrons had given up.

"Attention matrons of New Life. Your leader is dead. Your tyranny dies with her" I said. The foals all cheered as they heard me.

"Black Rose is dead? Yes! We're free! Come on ladies, let's go out of this damned place" one of the matrons said.

"My friends, we are now free to go out into the world. Go and live life as you choose" I said. The foals all ran out of the orphanage and out into the world to find loving families. I ran to Shining Star and gave her a big hug. "We're free Shining. We can look forward to the future with hope.

"What are we going to do now, big brother?" Shining asked.

"Now, we are going to live life as we choose to live it" I said.

We walked out of the burning orphanage and into the life of freedom.
