To Equestria the Germans go!
Chapter 2 - Connecting Communications
Previous Chapter"AAHH!"
Somewhere nearby, Rainbow Dash heard a scream. Not a big surprise, she thought grimly, considering this situation. After that initial yell, lots of noise came up. Most of it was doors and windows opening, along with lots of "What are those!?" It sounded pretty bad in the town, and Rainbow couldn't take it.
"We need to help them!" She said to her friends, who were fleeing with her.
"But how would we do that?" Rarity asked. No one knew. The only thing that could possibly deal with this situation is the Elements of Harmony, but they're gone. Twilight spoke up with a suggestion,
"We may not have the Elements, but we do have magic! We need to get all the - willing - Unicorns in Ponyville so we can use magic against the creatures!" Rainbow Dash nodded her head.
"Sound like a plan!" She said, then rushed off with her wings to do what Twilight said. The rest of the five also galloped into town, yelling for all the Unicorns to come out. A few stuck their heads out, but some, much braver (partly because it was the Elements of Harmony telling them to) actually went and shakily greeted the Ponies.
Then Fluttershy told the group who had the guts to come out that they needed all the unicorns to stop the invading creatures. A white Unicorn with black tousled hair spoke up after their plan.
"But how are we supposed to actually stop them with our magic?" He asked. Is was a bit hard to explain, seeing the mane five didn't actually know what Twilight was going to do.
"Well... Uh, Twilight knows what to do." Said Rainbow. This raised some disgruntled reactions, but everyone stayed with Fluttershy. They stood there for a few awkward seconds, then Rainbow Dash’s impatience got the best of her,
“Well then, C’mon! Let’s go!” The crowd of Unicorns hurriedly trotted by rainbow-maned Pegasus, who was going slow so the crowd could actually keep up with her. Dash even kept her front legs crossed, showing her boredom. After a painstaking slow (For her) trip everyone caught up with Twilight, who was pacing around in a circle, ear twitching.
“Oh, there you are!” She nervously greeted.
"So, I've been thinking that maybe we could stop the things invading Ponyville with magic!"
After this slightly obvious statement, Twilight went on.
"If all of you combined your power, we could simply levitate the creatures right out of town! Until Princess Celestia arrives, of course."
After Twilight was done briefing everyone, she waited for any objections. Strangely enough, no one disagreed. It was a sound plan, and it was simple.
Following Twilight, the assembled Unicorns trotted to a small hill that overlooked the village. When they got to the top of it, Twilight looked back at everyone.
"Alright, now focus your magic with mine"
With this, she lowered her head, and focused on the invading creatures as a whole. As she did this, her horn glowed brightly. Nearby the other ponies also focused their magic, making the hilltop a mirage of bright purple, blue and yellow lights. After concentrating on the creatures, Twilight thought of them, and then pulled them to her with her magic, as did everyone else. In Ponyville, the creatures, who were quite confused, suddenly started floating. Unfortunately, randomly teleporting to a weird land leaves you very dizzy, and flying without a clear surface in the air doesn't help. If you can put two-and-two together, you already know what just exited lots of mouths. After the group of creatures passed over the final house they were set down at the bottom of the hill that the Unicorns were using their magic on. Finally, the brightness coming from the Unicorns subsided. A collective panting followed, after all, its hard to lift about three-thousand pounds with only a dozen of Unicorns and an Alicorn Princess. Being the bravest one there, Twilight trotted down the hill to the dizzy creatures. That had actually worked out well, Twilight thought, how they went through their air-adventure, making them deathly sick. But she was interrupted on her way down by a sleek voice.
“Wait! Princess! They could be dangerous!”
Turning around, Twilight saw who voiced the warning. He was an Olive-Green Unicorn (and had a brown mane) with a blue, golden-edged jacket that had many pockets that were full of gears, scrap pieces of bronze metals and wires. On his face sat a twisting, confusing pair of glasses that were made of interlocking gears. And to finish off the pony’s steampunk look, his cutie mark was two connected bronze gears.
Twilight recognized him as the eccentric engineer that lived in Ponyville that went by the name of Icarus. Twilight waited until he caught up with her to question him.
“Icarus?” She asked. Looking up, Icarus nodded his head.
“Yes Princess, I don’t think you should go near them. Even in their… confounded state”
Twilight sighed. Icarus was a unique case. He was a nice fellow, and even though some of the things he has built were in no way safe, he still tries to put safety first, usually making himself the Pony that should go into a dangerous situation. He could be a nuisance sometimes his projects blew up and the town’s Princess had to sort it out, but Icarus usually meant good.
Note “Usually” Meant good.
“It’s okay Icarus, I’m sure I can handle it” Twilight said kindly. Icarus responded with a “If your sure” and stepped back. Continuing, Twilight walked up to the dizzy creatures. She kept her voice strong this time as she greeted them.
“Hello?”
Some of the things looked up, lazily. One of them looked surprised -even more than the rest- and managed to say a single word:
“English?”
The Princess looked over, intrigued. Somehow the creature knew what language she was speaking.
“You know English?” Twilight asked. The thing looked up, know very surprised.
“You speak English? how?” The creature, upon closer examination, reminded Twilight of Icarus. He had a long black coat on that went over his entire body and wore a pair of smart glasses, complete with ruffled brown hair. The creatures reminded Twilight of something she had read in a book, but she couldn’t put her hoof on it. Then it snapped into her head.
Humans
“Humans can talk?” The Princess asked the distinct man that seemed to speak english. He replied stoutly,
“I only thought equines could talk in a show i watched, but now this seems quite real, Twilight”
Twilight gasped. Somehow, he knew her name and seemed not all that mad in the current situation. Thinking about it, he could be mad, in the sense of completely mental. But, at least ponies could now communicate with the new creatures in Equestria, if thats anything.
