I walk in the shaded parts of the Everfree, finding a sheltered place to hide.
Taking out my auto tune device, I fix it in my mouth, testing it so it works. I say a few words, and my voice sounds tinny. I remove my goggles, squinting from the shock of how much light there was. I'm sheltered...aren't I?
I clear my throat. As much as I enjoyed being the Factory songbird, it was like prostitution...but singing instead of sex.
I begin singing Rainbow Factory;

"Now the rainbows tale isn't quite as nice.
Of the story we knew of sugar and spice,
A rainbows easy once you get to know it
With the help of the magic of a Pegasus device"

A twisted expression crawls onto my face and I laugh insanely, remembering the good factory past. I look around, but my singing and grimace ceased as Daren appeared in front of me.

"Bloodwing, are you okay?"
"Yes...are you okay?"
Daren was bewildered by my tinny voice. He was covered in dirt and scratches.
"I'm fine, don't worry about me"
"Okay"
"What are you doing?"
"Just...singing...I do it alone though..."
"Alright, I'll leave you to it."
He flies away, and I continue.

"Let's delve deeper into rainbow philosophy,
Far beyond that of Cloudsdales' mythology
It's easy to misjudge that floating city
With its alluring decor, and social psychology

But with all great things come with great responsibility
That and Cloudsdales weathers stability
How, you ask, are they up to the task,
To which the answer is in the simple facility!"

I had a wicked look on my face, my eye was twitching, my mouth turned into a insane smile.

"In the Rainbow Factory...where your fears and horrors come true...
In the Rainbow Factory...where not a single soul gets through...

In the rainbow factory..."

I fade the words out as the sun sets through the trees. Daren appears from behind me, applauding. My cheeks feel warm. He's been watching me.
"You heard?" I say, my voice still tuned.
"Oh, yes" he said, smiling. "Such a great song...especially when sung by a mare. An auto tuned one, too"
"Er, thanks" I said, the psychotic smile fading from my lips. I look at my goggles, which are now broken by a tree.
Daren looks at them. "Hm."
"Yeah...euphoria"

We both look at the stars after I remove my auto tune device.

"You don't see this in the factory, Daren. Seeing the sky is a wish for the workers up there"
He sits up and looks at me with half a smile. "But you're here now."
"None of us were friends either. I've never been in a friendship before Or felt affection...my stallionfriend never talked to me anyway"
"You have more than a friend, Bloodwing."
I smile. Maybe this is what it feels like to be loved?
"I guess...but it was stil...-"
Daren brought his lips to mine, and we made out under the stars. He was strong, but soft at the same time.

I began to think about the Factory...how we never bothered to talk to each other, apart from Sharpster.
But this was Daren, I met him two...three days ago? And despite his hatred for love, he still chose me. Even when I'm heartless, cold, psychotic...

A reject from the Factory.

He pulls away to breathe and I gaze into his eyes. He touches the scars on my face. His voice lowers slightly, sounding a little like my husky one.
"I can fix them up, you know"
"I don't think scars can be fixed, Daren. They're just accidents"
He looked hurt.
"I guess they're memories..." I assure him. I lied, the scars represent the bad memories.
"Alright." He picks up my goggles and looks at me one more time. "Your eyes are literally the colour of blood"
I chuckle. "So much for the corny pick up lines"
He laughs, and I wink at him before I leave.
