Fears Conquered - Sky, Sparklez, Bashur, and Master Meowth

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

"So I was just taking a little walk by the ocean cliffside"

"Uh huh"

"And then I saw Bashur and Master Meowth"

"Uh huh"

"And Master Meowth was teaching Bashur how to fly"

"Uh hu- Wait, what?!"

Sky immediately flicked his attention from the book he was reading to Sparklez, whom had come to talk to him for some strange reason. He had been listening to him sure, but he had also been more focused on what he was reading. Yes, he knew that Bashur and Master Meowth were most likely a couple now and he was fine with it but teaching him to fly? Bashur was terrified of that! Plus if he failed, he would surely plummet to the ground and die.

Sparklez tilted his head slightly at his friend at his sudden outburst, taken aback from his shout of surprise. It wasn't everyday that Sky got angry. He was usually a bright ball of energy.

"What do you mean he's teaching him to fly?" Sky questioned, thoughts racing through his mind.

"Uh, that he's teaching him how to fly? That's what they're doing" Sparklez answered casually.

"Fuck..." the modder murmured catching Sparklez off guard. Sky didn't curse that much and when he did, it surely counted.

"And he's teaching him how to do the Battouga" the other modder added, not sure why.

This only seemed to make Sky angerier. "The Battouga? As in the Zetsu Tenrou Battouga?" he demanded more than asked as he jumped in front of his friend, his eyes narrowing.

"Uh, yeah. Do we use any other Battougas?" He didn't think they did.

Letting out a frustrated growl, Sky turned away from his friend.

"Okay, what's the big deal? We all learn the Battouga at some point" He tried to reason to Sky, not fully understanding his annoyance and anger.

"The big deal? The big deal?!" He turned back to Sparklez, the anger not dying down at all. "The big deal is that Bashur is not ready for that. The Battouga is a very advanced move that requires a lot of balance, power, and concentration. Even if Bashur has been able to learn to fly, trying that move could turn in a completely bad direction" He breathed deeply, trying not to think of what would happen if the watermelon tried and failed at the move.

"I'm sure he'll be fine. He does have Master Meowth with him after all"

"Look, I don't care if Amber and all of the Funnelers are with him. I'm going and you're coming with me" he stated as he grabbed Sparklez by the arm and began dragging him alongside him.

"Why are you so overprotective of him?" came the sudden question causing Sky to stop walking and look at him, a glint of anger filling his calm, annoyed eyes, hidden somewhat behind his dark sunglasses.

"What do you mean?" he asked, raising an eyebrow in slight confusion.

"You know, you're always worried about what he's doing and where he is. You're even now going to try to 'stop' him from learning the skills he needs to survive in his world" Sparklez said, trying to pry his arm free of Sky's tight grasp. Why was he trying, he knew he wasn't getting away. Not with the other modder like this.

"What, have you been living in a ditch for the past month? I'm not his adopted brother, I'm his biological brother, it's my job to keep him safe. Plus, he's weaker than the others so that explains why I want to know where he is and what he is doing. I don't want him to get hurt or do something he'll regret. In case you're wondering, I simply want to protect him from hurtful things, not control his life" Sky stated, turning back and beginning to walk again, dragging Sparklez along with him once more.

By this point, he had given up trying to fight him and simply walked besides him, though his grip on his arm never decreased though never increased either.

"I understand wanting to protect him but this is going too far. I don't worry about Husky or Chi like this. Neither do you about Nanners" Why was he trying to reason with him?

This time, he didn't stop or turn to look at him. "I don't worry about him 24/7 because I know he can take care of himself. Nanners already worries about me too much anyways"

"Same thing with Husky and Chi. I know they can take care of themselves, even little Chi has the abilities the protect herself in danger. Bashur should be no different"

"Well he's not. And I won't let him do something this dangerous" He paused in both talking and walking. Shoving Sparklez in front of him, he let go of his arm as he lowered his head and said, "Wherever this cliffside is, take me there" It sounded more like an order than a request.

"Are you sure about doing this?" Sparklez questioned, giving his friend one last chance to change his mind before they went.

With no hesitation, Sky answered. "Of course I'm sure! Now let's just go already before I just use my flower to locate them myself"

Sighing in defeat, Sparklez remained silent as he led Sky to the cliffside, not knowing how the night was going to end.

"Dangit!"

"Heh, ya're gettin' betta t'ough"

"This is actually starting to hurt and this all just seems too complicated" Bashur complained, sighing as he felt his leg ache in slight pain after attempting a small Battouga for an hour now. Yes, he was getting better but the many rules and focus and power for such a move, it was starting to hurt his brain more than anything.

"Come on, it can't be dat bad. Just concentrate an' ya'll get it eventually" Master Meowth snickered, understanding his new lover's thoughts on the matter. But it had been Bashur who had brought up the Battouga idea in the first place and now, he had really no right to complain.

"But it's just so hard!" the living watermelon sighed, not understanding how he didn't get the move done yet, even the most smallest of Battougas was coming off as hard to him.

Snickering, Master Meowth approached his side. "Rememba what I told ya. Ya have ta build up yer powa an' strengt' first by jumpin' back an' fort' off of somet'in', mainly walls but in yer case, invisible walls" he said as he flicked his claws, said walls flicking into visibility before disappearing once more. "When ya get enough of dat, ya balance yerself an' move forward. Ya should den bite down an' spin yerself forwards as well. Da wind an' powa 'round ya should make da Battouga. Trust me, ya'll know when ya've got it. Anyways, da powa should make hittin' da ground a swipe of a claw if ya know what I mean"

Bashur simply nodded, understanding what he was saying. Saying it, it sounded so simple but while doing it, it always backfired somehow on him and he could never figure out what went wrong. But he always knew he failed whenever he tried it.

"You make it sound so easy!"

Master Meowth smirked at this. "I make everyt'in' sound easy, now don't I?" he jokingly asked, lifting his down mood. He always seemed to be able to do that to him.

"Yeah, you do" Bashur smiled, gratefully. "Alright, I'm ready to give it another go" he added confidently.

"Alright, go for it" he stated, walking to the side as Bashur turned around and focused himself on his newfound flying skills as he began to confidently began to pick himself up off of the ground.
