Escaping from Celestia
Solar Sadness
Previous ChapterNext ChapterA few months have passed and while Twilight has adjusted to Ponyville, in Canterlot Luna has quickly matured back into her adult form. At the same time though, despite her being happy for Luna, Celestia has become depressed. This has caught her sister's attention and she wanted to know what was going on. After they did their royal duties one morning Luna asked, "Celestia, you seem so sad here lately, what is wrong?"
Celestia thought that since Luna has re-matured, that she would not understand her feelings. Celestia replied, "I don't think you would understand. It is late for you, why don't you go get some sleep. I don't want you being tired tonight."
While normally Luna would have already rushed off to bed, she was not going to take that for an answer. She said, "Something is obviously wrong with you. You are my sister and I am concerned about you."
Celestia snapped, "Luna, just drop it. Go get some rest."
Luna rolled her eyes and headed off to her bedroom to get some rest. Celestia headed up to the archives and sat there quietly. White Wings, a member of her royal guard noticed that she was in there alone. He had concerns like Luna did and wanted to know what was wrong. He headed into the archives and asked, "Your Majesty, what is wrong? You seem so sad here lately."
Celestia had tears rolling down her face and she replied, "I'm just lonely. Twilight and I would spend so much time together and now she is gone. I miss her so much."
White Wings asked, "Princess, why did you allow her to stay in Ponyville? Why didn't you have her come back up here with you when Luna was restored?"
Celestia began to sob and replied, "Because she finally discovered what friendship is. I couldn't bring myself to make her leave the only friends she had ever had. I wanted her to be happy." She paused for a minute and then continued, "I just never knew that I would get so lonely. Oh White Wings, I hate myself for letting her stay in Ponyville."
White Wings suggested, "Princess, I don't mean to tell you what to do but the Canterlot Garden Party is this afternoon. Perhaps making a special appearance would make you feel better. After all, they are expecting you."
Celestia replied, "I don't know if I can White Wings. Being around so many ponies without Twilight by my side will only make matters worse. Maybe Luna would go in my stead."
White Wings said, "Well I wouldn't count on it. Luna stayed up late asking why you were so sad and besides, you know how she is when she is woke up in the middle of the day."
Celestia replied, "Oh that is true." She pulled her wings over her face and asked, "Could you just let me have some alone time?"
White Wings nodded and left Celestia alone in the archives. Celestia pulled her wings away from her face and started seeing visions from the past. She saw visions of how when Twilight was a filly and the two would have so much fun when she was teaching Twilight basic magic. She then saw visions of once Twilight matured into a full grown mare how happy Twilight would be when she would successfully cast advanced spells. She then saw one more vision, a vision from her old castle. She saw the vision of Twilight running up to her and nuzzling her after she and her friends had defeated Nightmare Moon. Celestia remembers that look in Twilight's eyes and believed it to be a look of pure love. This only caused Celestia to cry harder.
She cried to herself, "Oh Celestia, why would she want to stay in Ponyville after giving you such a loving look?"
Despite the fact that she was supposed to make an appearance at the garden party, Celestia headed to her room and curled up in a ball on her bed. She continued to remember all the times that her and Twilight had, well those once Twilight grew into an adult. Whether it was true or not, Celestia began to think that every look Twilight gave her was one of true love. Finally it was time for supper when she heard a bang on her door. She rocketed upwards and crashed into the ceiling.
Celestia asked, "Wh-What? Who is there?"
Luna replied, "Celestia, it's me. It's time for supper."
Celestia opened her door to find a concerned Luna. Luna saw that her eyes were red and asked, "What is wrong? Why are your eyes red?"
Celestia realized that Luna would continue to ask her what was wrong until she told her so she just decided to tell her. She said, "Luna, I really miss Twilight. I miss us spending time together, I simply miss having her around. I just wish I could see her for a day or two."
Luna smiled and asked, "If that is the case why don't you just send her a message asking her to come here?"
Celestia smiled and replied, "Luna, you're a genius! I don't know why I didn't think of that!"
Before heading into the dining hall Celestia wrote a message to Twilight that read, "Twilight, I need you to come up to Canterlot tomorrow morning alone. There are some things that I really need to discuss with you. Don't even bring Spike, this must remain between just the two of us. I hope you will be able to make it. Princess Celestia."
Celestia sent it and asked, "Do you think she will be able to make it?"
Luna replied, "I don't know Twilight very well but I'm sure she will make it."
In Ponyville Spike and Twilight are visiting Fluttershy for some tea when "BELCH" Spike coughs up a message. Twilight said, "Hmmm, I wonder what this could be."
Twilight opened the scroll and read it out loud. Fluttershy asked, "Do you think everything is ok? You aren't in trouble with the princess are you Twilight?"
Twilight replied, "I doubt it but thanks for your concern Fluttershy."
Once Twilight and Spike got home Spike asked, "Twilight, why do you think Celestia doesn't want me to come? Do you think she is mad at me?"
Twilight replied, "I doubt it. There are some things that just has to stay between the princess and myself."
After doing some evening studying Twilight and Spike headed to bed. Twilight was having problems getting to sleep as she was a bit worried about what Celestia wanted to talk about.
